BT should have sent your GF a letter at month 11 to ask if she wanted the rolling contract to continue.I assume if she didn't receive that letter or didn't reply then I think the contract got renewed.

She can't find the letter, but having done some research on this, this is what must have happened. This is obvious sharp practice by BT and I'm surprised OFCOM have been so weak.
Has anyone had any luck getting out of this? My GF said she's have never accepted anything if she knew the contract rolled.

If she hasn't got hers calls with BT then she should know who she is paying for those calls, especially if its been like that for over a year.

She's had no bills from anyone. The line is for the internet and the occasional incoming call.
Any idea how she can find out who her call provider is?

Where is this "you must leave Sky for 12 months before you can become a new customer" written, because its not in any of my 2003 or 2007 Sky conditions & policies. Even Sky can't supply me where it is stated. They just repeat it over and over again, but cannot support it!!!!

Isn't it up to them who they consider to be a 'new customer'?
I abhor sharp practice, but this just seems pragmatic.

I would tend to agree, I think that they could use whatever definitions that they like. If a company was offering a discount on your first order with them or had sent you a single use voucher code, they would not let you repeatedly use the discount.

I see that the cashback deal ended on the 17th (I had assumed that it ended on the 25th :o) and the whole Sky deal seems to end on the 25th.
I was wondering if there were any other deals in the pipeline or should I just take the HD offer with free line rental now and forget about the cashback / any other offers.
I am moving to a new address and I have never had Sky before.
I am not that bothered about HD, but would get it if it was cheaper / free as with the phone line offer.

Has anybody received any email confirmation following their take up of this offer?

I got an email minutes after ordering, but nothing since, and considering my install date is next Friday, I figured I should have heard something by now??

    Hi,

I am an existing customer. Their cancellation dept is offering "A Grade" Sky+ box for £30 and free installtion. The box is either refurbished or returned during the cooling period.

I spent considerable time on the phone requesting to send me a new box and charge for installation but the guy stood his ground.

He assures me that that if there is a problem with the box, I'll be covered by the by the guarantee as I'm tied in for 12 months.

It's a joke that after being a loyal customer over 15 years, I'm tied in again.

My question to all. Does anybody have a "A Grade" box and happy with it.

I think it's a disgrace the way they try and fob people off with sub-standard offers. Do you subscribe to Sports and/or Movies? They obviously take in to account how much money you're currently giving them or have given them in the past.

As I stated earlier in this thread, I got a free SkyHD box, free installation and 12 months free phone line rental from them when speaking to cancellations. So, I can't see why you're only being offered this deal, unless you only have a standard Sky box with no premium channels?

Just as a heads-up, i noticed topcashback have reduced my cashback to £60 even though I signed up when it was £130. In my opinion this is very wrong, as many people will have calculated the £130 cashback into the total deal price. I checked with quidco and they said if you sign up when the cashback is £130 you will get £130, if its reduced afterwards only customers who signed up after the reduction get the reduced amount.

Ive just haggled with Sky as per Martins comments, as an existing customer out of my 12 month subscription/contract I wanted to upgrade to Sky+, to do so I would have to of paid £149.99 for the box + £59.99 for installation. After threatening to cancel they accepted just £59.99, careful though I had to sign for 12 months again.[/FONT]

    Hi All,

I took the sky offer with HD etc and with the free line rental for a year i.e. £31.25/ month and I rang today as directed to get them to action the BB(I didnt have a landline and had to pay for installation of that - £25 charge). At the end of the call the girl on the phone went through all the charges on the line and it was working out at £41.25 i.e. landline offer not applied.

So I'm cancelling, as SKY is saying as although offer is available I'm no longer a new customer and it cant be applied.

I have contacted simplifydigital and they are seeing if they can help but I am not hopeful.

A word of warning as I was lucky as was still in my DSD i.e. cooling off period and can cancel without serious costs. But i would advise anyone who took to offer to double check everything ASAP.

    Cheers,

    rabc77
