EXSISTING CUSTOMERS CAN GET THE SAME DEAL WITH A BIT OF CHATTER!
Today I called Sky Cancellation Dept and stated: " I am just calling to find out what the procedure is for cancelling my sky as I'm looking to do this in the next couple of weeks." the obvious question was why. I then explained the fact that I'm not happy that New Customer get a free Sky plus box and £30.00 installation while we have to pay £99!!! She said she could understand why I was not happy. To push things along I said I have been a loyal customer and I have the top package, in which case I needed to know the process so I could call Virgin to get them to come and install a new package for me. At that point she said I'll see what I can do. Within seconds she then said WE WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO OFFER YOU THE SAME DEAL!!! FREE SKY PLUS AND £30.00 INSTALLATION! I said that is great further more I would like to pay for this on my pay day she said no problem we will add a note to your account and gives us a call when you are ready! RESULT!!!!! Also a few days ago I called them as my sisters had said they offered her a deal on her package I expressed that I wasn't happy and once again they offered me a deal the top package which is everything on sky normally £46 they gave it to me for £36.00 for 6 months!

They can do better than that - 18 months ago or so I got a free SKY+ box with free installation when I threatened to leave.

I am just waiting to see when they start giving hd boxes for free to existing customers - it must happen soon as they will want to encoursge us to pay the £10 for HD.
    To infinity and beyond!
  • I have been with Sky for 7yrs approx. I rang them and spoke to their cancellation team to ask how much notice I needed to give to close my account. They gave me the answer of 31 days and then asked if they could help me. I explained that I was not happy that new customers were being offered varying deals and was therefore considering moving to freeview.

I only pay £20 per month and dont have TV or Broadband or any of those things - just the TV.

The lady I spoke to was particularly helpful and offered me both the installation and the box for free!!! providing that I signed up to stay with them for another 12 months - sure I said I will sign up for 2 years if you want me to!

Thanks for the post..... saved me £160 I'm well chuffed

We get our basic TV programmes via Sky satellite, having bought our own box long before the recent (BBC) Freesat service was launched. This means we don't have to be plugged into a phone line or pay a monthly subscription. Is there any way we could get the Sky+ facility for recording programmes without having a contract or plugging into a phone line?
  • Iam an existing customer & have just phoned Sky regarding the HD+ Box & i told them unfair it was for existing customers not being ables to get the same deals as new customers. I was told their was noway i could get the same deal, but was told the HD box was going back up to £199 at the end of june !!

If you have the Sky+ box you can get the recording facilities as a non subscriber for a fee of £10 p/m. You do not need a phone line but I don't know if there is a minimum period you must take it for.

    Full marks to SBLACKWOOD77

I have been with sky for about 10yrs now and wasn't happy about the fact that these 'deals' for sky+ / hd were only for new customers.

Anyway, after reading sblackwood77's post, I thought I'd try my luck by going down the cancellation route, complaining about how loyal ive been, the fact that i also have my calls and broadband with them....and low and behold....

My free sky+ box will be arriving next week, charge for installation £29.

    Im happy with that!! :T

i was looking to get sky installed at our house we have just bought, just phone out that i have to have the phone activated as the previous owners had took that with them... (how nice they didnt tell me) so i have to get a phone line, sky charge £10.00 a month and £30.00 for installation. whereas bt charge £12.00 per month.

i wanted to have sky+ and a hd box and a broadband, will try to work on it again but i guess that the free line rental option is the best one to go for rather than £130.00 cashback. very confusing.
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!

Oh dear ! BAD news I'm afraid. Just been on Quidco and the cashback offer has now drop to just £60 !

Hi DonnySaver, I've been on and ordered our Sky+ HD and it looked like the cashback was £60. I thought that was still a good deal so we've gone and ordered it, but when I checked back on my Quidco just now, £130 has tracked! :j I just hope its not a mistake!!

The offer also includes a £50 Tesco Voucher and the first month of HD is still free - I'm really pleased with this, its yet another good deal I've got through MSE and these forums! :T
  • I got sky HD back in April for £49 and got £30 of M&S vouchers from Sky and have just recieved the cashback from TopCashBack of £121.20, not sure if TCB are still doing this but well worth a look!!:j
