Any ideas for getting a sky + HD box for cheaper then £200 (OMG!)
I have recently gotten a HDTV and would like to know if the HD unit upscales the normal signal. (dont know if I wanna pay £10 per month for the HD channels just yet)The will to save every money saving penny we can0 -
We saw this on the email and we're existing customers, who have the Sky 2mb Broadband, phone (but not rental) and basic sky box with decent channel packages etc. I've been harping on about HD (Family Guy in HD, Burn Notice, Knight Rider) to my other half, so she called up and spoke to someone and referenced the deal. We now have the HD + box, free line rental for a year and only had to pay the installation (like they've got to anything to install.)
So it's worth calling!!l
Prior to this, we also had a dish that came with the house, which caused terrible reception during bad weather, we called them and spoke to disconnections and said we never had an installation and weren't prepared to pay the fee, result enginner came out and fitted new dish to the roof (Though he did complain though, wimp).
So if in doubt existing customers go through to disconnections, you'll get a result:money:0 -
Okay, how about this..... I want a second SKY +HD box and I want it for free.
Currently I have a regular Sky+ box and a Sky +HD box account registered in my name. My 12 month contract is up on August 20th. I am paying £58 / month (all channels, movies and no sports, plus HD charge and multiroom charge).
It just so happens that we are also moving at the end of August. The new house is already setup for two satellite receivers and to make it better. My wife and I have different last names. The only thing in common between us is our joint bank account number.
So here is the grand plan.
1) Cancel the existing Sky account minimum 30 days before the contract is up.
2) Login to Quidco using my wifes quidco account to get the £130 Sky cashback and free install.
3) Sign up for a new 12 month contract with my wifes name
4) go for the £49 free install Sky HD option at the new address.
5) once we have moved and Sky has installed the new HD Box, call them up and tell them we have bought from a friend a old Sky +HD box and want to connect it.
6) They charge me another £10 / month for a multiroom setup.
In the end, I should not be paying any more that I am right now and I get a second Sky +HD box, £81 (130 - 49) cashback and the option to sell the regular Sky+ box.
So....... Will it work and what am I overlooking?0 -
Be warned that this broadband deal is only available if you happen to be in a Sky LLU area.0

Be aware that for a second HD box on multiroom they charge the normal £10 p/m for the multiroom Sub but also an extra £10 p/m for a 2nd HD Pack.
I'm not so sure about that. I've called them twice to ask generic questions without telling them who I was and they said both times that it is only one HD charge per account regardless of how many HD receivers you have.0 -

I can assure you it is one HD pack per HD receiver on multiroom. You can not pay it and still get FTA and FTV HD channels (BBC HD, Luxe and C4HD) but none of the others.
It is a major complaint by people wanting two HD boxes and they have a point.0 -

Finally found the relevant small print on the websiteMultiroom subscription: Provides the same Sky TV channels as your main Sky TV subscription on a box in another room. You must subscribe to Sky TV throughout and an extra box is required for each Multiroom subscription. Each box you have must be connected to the same fixed telephone line at all times. To receive your HD subscription channels in another room, you’ll need another Sky+HD box and HD Pack subscription.

Hi, I applied for the Sky+, broadband & Telephone offer last year when I was with the post-office tel. service. Was told by Sky that I would get broadband and telephone calls as part of the monthly package but I would need to over to BT so they could help me get broadband & free telephone calls. Spent unpteen £zillions re-arranging telephone transfer to BT. Called Sky when it was all changed over after about a six week delay and was told that they could not supply broadband or free telephone calls as promised (and as contracted for in my signed agreement) because they do not run a Sky broadband / telephone service in central Cornwall where I live. Ended up paying full monthly £16.50 for a service I can't receive from Sky and having to pay for telephone and broadband separately through BT!! So beware and take care !!!0

My Sky box has broken 3 times now. Each time it costs £65 for an engineer who usually takes about 2 weeks to get to you. It broke at christmas and cost money to repair and now it has gone again but apparently it only had a warranty for 90 days. Not mentiones at the time. This is not a good company to deal with. It is difficult to reach the department you want and to get the servrce you want. Think about it first!0
