ok... so the boy has shoved a bit of bread into his ear... its too far in for me to want to try and get it

    any ideas?

You could try adding oil to his ear to see if that will work it out. Almond oil is best but olive oil works too. I did that when my son lost the foam pad off his headphones and it was wedged right down in his ear canal. The oil moved it forward enough to be nipped out with tweezers.

Sorry to hear about your friend Mrs Tine. When hubby broke his hand recently the doctor said you should always get suspected broken bones checked out just in case.

Had a good day at uni yesterday. It was nice getting out and just being me without the children in tow! Hubby stayed home and looked after all three and managed to get some housework done. He was absolutely knackered last night and said it's hard work staying at home - errr yes I know! :D

Hope things look better today cazcoob. We're still here if you need us xx

feelie - i am so very pleased for you and toby. i try and put my baby girl to my breast when she is like that but still wont take to it. seems expressing what i can is still the way to go. still umming and ahing about going to the breastfeeding clinic at the hospital for their take on it but worry they will moan cause she is 12 weeks now.

I've done alot of reading on various forums about babies who struggle to latch. There seem to be quite a lot of cases of babies who get it later that others, on one forum a ladies triplets suddenly got it at 4.5 months!

If you want to keep trying her, then do. It can be heartbreaking though, so if you decide enough is enough, don't feel bad.

I might try and go to the breastfeeding clinic on friday. He is latching quite badly and it is a bit painful most of the time, so hopefully they can help. I'm sure they wouldn't moan, lots of people have trouble in the early days, and a lot of ladies relactate.

How are things with the milk?

feely - it's great to hear you sounding more upbeat and positive :) keep it up and go to the clinic! It can't hurt!
AF - it's NEVER too late to go along and get some support and advice :) They won't mind in the least and would rather you came along than struggled and gave up entirely. Not being funny but have you asked MW etc to check she's not tongue tied?

I asked HV to check DS for tongue-tie, and as I held him up to show her, he stuck his toungue really far out! He is great at doing things like that on cue. Do you know what day he chose to 'get' breastfeeding? The day my hospital pump arrived! Also the day my Mum (who is my main support in all this, OH doesn't get it) went on holiday, so I can't talk to her about all my silly worries for over a week!

Mrs Tine that is such a sad story ...(and got me a little worried)

Foot not too badly swollen so pretty sure its not a break (although to be fair as I've never broken anything I wouldn't know what it feels like) still sore though so will be at a&e tomorrow if no improvements.

    Thanks for the concern.

Wasn't meant to worry you, just highlight why any injury should always be checked out :) And whilst a toe might not warrent calling an ambulance then please don't feel you're wasting A&E or a doctors time to have it checked :) My guess is that the reason Silv didn't get her ankle checked was that she didn't want to bother anyone with a swollen ankle... we all "know" a sprain isn't that serious right? :)
Since then I've never felt guilty for asking for medical advice (I still struggle with being a bother to the GPs but I do ask :) ) because I guess I have seen the worst case scenario...

Feelie, give the number in my sig a ring and someone will be able to talk you through your latch and help you make it a bit more comfortable. It's fantastic that toby is getting it now but you really shouldn't struggle before you get to the breastfeeding clinic!

Should I wait till he is awake so I can do it while on the phone, or now while he is asleep and quiet?
