Envirofone damaged phone?

  • I recently sent my nokia n97 into envirophone only to get an email stating it was water damaged & they offered me £30 instead of £82. I new my phone was not water damaged as I packaged it well. I requested they return my phone so I could check if it was ok. Having got the phone back it was in full working order so I decided to send it off the Mazuma where is passed testing & I was paid the same day.
All in all I would not use envirophone again & would recommend Mazuma

You dont really have many rights if it was damaged in transit.
I know this is a very old post, but you DO have rights if it was damaged in transit. You claim the damage from the courier / postal service.

As long as you use the appropriate service for the value of the goods - over £41 would be Special Delivery if you use Royal Mail.
  • Old thread but worth resurrecting to confirm that envirofone are still behaving in exactly the same fashion. I found this thread after I sent two phones to them - a Samsung and a Sony. I know they were working perfectly when they left me as I had been using both up to the point of sending them - they were well packaged and could not possibly have been damaged in the post, unless a lorry ran over the package in which case both would have been trashed.

However, according to envirofone, the Sony - which was worth more, will not power up and they'll give me £4.00 for it.

I rang up and pointed out that I had been using it minutes before I packaged it up. I don't believe for one minute that it doesn't power up and find it amazing that the cheaper phone is fine and they've refused to return that one, but the more expensive one isn't.

They claim they will send the other phone back.

Horrible company, definitely wouldn't deal with them ever again.

I think it's fairly obvious none of the faults happened in transit.
  • The exact same thing has happened to me. Sent off two phones one of which had hardly been used. They emailed a few days later offering a lot less money, I rejected the offer and received my phones back damaged. One of them had a vital part removed from inside so definitely can't blame transit. This post dates back to 2009 I can't believe they are still getting away with this.
  • Oh dear this doesn't sound good. My daughter sent her 3 month old Blackberry to them last month. When they received it they emailed reducing their offer by more than 50%, she refused. They then up their offer by £5 and she still refused. two weeks on she's still waiting for it to be returned. Sounds like theres a high likelihood of it being returned in a damaged condition.
  • Thanks to all for highlighting what a shower of ***** Envirophone are. Glad I checked here first. Looks like I'll be using Mazuma mobile.

    Thanks again.
  • Glad i read this, i sent my Iphone 3GS off last week as they offered £105 and received and email today offering me £82 as they said back was cracked. Fortunately i decided to send it off in a hard protective case i bought for it as i decided i didn't need it anymore . I also put it into a jiffy bag which was big enough to roll over it twice before putting into thier jiffy bag. There is absolutely no way it would have been broken in transit so i have told them to send it back to me. It'll be interesting to see if a) its the same phone. b) it comes back with the original case c) they wrap it as good as i did.
I will post the outcome, if there's any wrong doing as a business they'll end up with some paperwork from MCOL.
  • It's not always easier to sell on ebay because people are unlikely to buy a phone with, for example, scuffs in the paintwork etc. whereas envirofone will buy a phone that is in any condition. However, before you send your phone off to one of these websites, make yourself aware of what is damaged and what is ok with your phone. I was quoted £92 for my Nokia E7 but after i sent it off i received an email saying that they would only pay £54 because the headphone socket was damaged. I didn't believe them so asked for my phone to be returned and when it arrived I tested 3 pairs of headphones. All of them worked perfectly fine and there is no visible damage to the exterior of the headphone socket or surrounding area. Just keep your wits about you if you do send your phone off to one of these companies and make sure your phone is packaged properly and safely.
