Can't you claim from Royal Mail? If enough people do so RM might suddenly realise Envirophone are a source of a surprising number of claims for damaged items.

  • Hi I would like to say thanks to the person that started this forum. Thanks to you because I sent my HTC Incredible S to envirophone where they said they would pay £75.08 however when they received my "working" phone I got a email back from them saying that the phone had a blank LCD and I could have £11.28 or get my phone returned. I of course asked for the phone to be returned. Then when I found this forum I followed this up with a phone call and voiced my concerns. now surprise surprise 24hrs later I've just received an email from envirophone to say that the phone has now passed and the original amount of £75.08 will be in my bank in the next few days. I am delighted so thank you for the advise and my advise to everyone is don't let them away with it get on the phone and be harsh but polite.

I'm a little late writing this but last October I bought a new iPhone 5 paid off my contract for the 4S I'd had for a year, which was in pristine condition not like the 4 I'd wrecked previously in a shallow gutter of water. Paying off the remainder of my contract cost £250 Envirophone offered me £255 for my 32G 4S, happy days! Not really, I got an email claiming the pho e was water damaged and offered me £55, I immediately refused and they sent the phone back that weekend I decided to give it to my wife, SIM card in charged it up, restored from backup, the following day it went off and never came back on. What's all that about! Took it to see an Apple Smartiepants and its water damaged. Not on my watch it wasn't. I smell a rat.

    Is it the same IMEI?
  • I fell victim to this as well unfortunately. Sent in an iPhone 5 in fine condition. Only a few months old, and got an email to say that there was a 'pink hue'. I argued against it and got some odd response from the customer service rep saying you only see it on certain backgrounds. It sounds like a lie. They quoted 100 pounds and dropped this to 40. Such a joke. AVOID!
  • My experience is almost identical to the previous message. iPhone 5 with pink hue on the screen so offer reduced to an insulting amount. Clearly this business has established itself to take advantage of customers who send phones in by apparently inventing faults with their devices to limit the amount they pay. It seems that they have a standard list of faults too!

My intention is to receive my phone back and then make a formal complaint through the relevant authorities.
  • I have just signed up purely to post on here! I am so angry with them!

Sent a Samsung Galaxy S4 off to them on the 8th of August. Got an email today saying they had not received my phone. I obviously immediately replied that it was posted on the 8th and I have kept the proof. Magically they then emailed back that yes they have received my phone, but it is faulty and the original price of £96 had been dropped to £9!!!

I called them straight up and very politely asked what the fault was as it couldn't have been damaged in transit, it was very well wrapped and I even sent it with the case still on, (one of those hard leather ones that cover the complete phone). Wouldn't you believe it has an LCD fault....or LCD burn to be specific. Apparently I wouldn't have even noticed because this can only be noticed on certain background, such as a white background.

Luckily I found this forum BEFORE calling and have requested a re-test. This will take 24-48 hours and they will email me when it has been done. I mentioned that many people seem to have an LCD fault on all different phones when they are sent it, which they guy really DID NOT like. I told him if it came back with the same fault I'm about an hour away I will collect. This guy says they are now in Scotland. Hmm...Also mentioned the possibility of reporting to watchdog. Now waiting for the re-test result...
  • Just sent back a Sony Xperia Z5 (only 6months old) for which I was offered £190.

Got a text today to inform me that the valuaion has changed, and that I should go to the website to check. Went to the website, and was informed that they were now offering me £47.50 due a faulty screen.

Just to clarify, phone was in good working order and there were no issues with the screen. According to the Envirofone person, the fault was 'Screen Burn'.

Working in IT, I'm all too aware of what screen burn is (essentially, that is why Screen Savers were invented)

Basically the only phones that will NOT suffer from screen burn are
    • Brand new phones
    • Phones that are only used for a couple of hours a day, and then get switched off.

So if your phone does not tick any of those boxes , I would not bother ( I pointed out , that as they deal with recycling used phones, the vast majority of valuations will get changed anyway).
