Glad I found this, thought I would post and then will send them a link also.

I am a bit of tech gadget person for a hobby, ive replaced 100s of screens for friends on iphones and htcs, ive replaced all sorts on tablets and laptops, i sent in my office htc desire that used to be my gfs, i had put a brand new lcd in it 6 months ago and knew the phone inside out, i took lots of pics of my daughter on it before i sent it. Double checked it, wrapped it up and sent in via special with extra packing for £76 in Argos vouchers, 2 days later i got an email offer £39 saying the camera lens was cracked, total scam if you ask me, when i asked who they were governed by the woman on the phone got really irate with me and started losing her composure, saying they were not governed by anyone so i said basically you can do what you want then, she would have none of it and offered to return it broken said i need to claim from RM!

Weird thing also is they emailed me at 430pm on friday after they had closed then emailed me again saying that if i didnt reply to their accept or reject offer before 24 hrs ie 9am monday I would be automatically sent the lower fee, it just alll felt wrong, the emails, the womans attitude, and the fact the phone was 100% perfect and they wouldnt even let me speak to the guy who checked it nor talk tech with me and explain what exactly it was.

So im waiting on a broken phone back £6 out of pocket for sending it special and no idea if i can claim off RM but sounds like a lot of messing about, I would avoid this company like the plague, they are not sincere if you ask me

further update just for me adds to the fact that its a scam!!

Further to the recent sale of your HTC Desire.

Due to the financial cost and environmental impact to return your phone I would like to offer you an additional £12.50 to the price of £39.01 instead of returning your phone to you. Which would amend the revised offer to £51.51.

Would you like to accept this offer or have the phone returned?

Please notify us by tomorrow 05/05/2012 if you want to accept the offer or for the phone to be returned back to you.

so they are now willing to offer me another £12 all of a sudden! well considering the original offer was £76 i turned it down

further update, received the phone back with a damaged screen, butchered screws inside and full of fluff and hair between the screen and the lcd has clearly been taken apart by an amateur and have broken the screen which was brand new!

I am CLEARLY not the only person with a problem with Enviorfone I sent 2 phones Iphone 3g and experia x10. The iphone was in reasonable condition few scuff marks on the back, screen had ALWAYS been protected with a screen protector the phone had NEVER had earphones connect to it as it was only ever used as a phone by me! the experia was in exceptional condition and had had a hard case cover from the day it was taken out of the box a screen protector on screen and a smaller one on the camera lens!. They offered me £78 for the experia and £65 for the iphone I was a bit miffed at the offer of the iphone but sent both phones off to envirofone BOTH double wrapped in bubble wrap and I took photos of both phones as proof of condition. 3 days ago after nearly a month since sent I had a email telling me that they were reducing the offer to £6 for the iphone due to damaged screen, an LCD fault and broken off jack in earphone socket. They offered £38 for my experia claim the screen was cracked and volume buttons not working. I immediately contacted them by email refusing the offer and asking them to revise offer or send me back my phones in the same condition I sent them in, I enclosed photos of both phones I recieved a email back today telling me TOUGH that it was to late payment had already been sent (even though I have never agreed to it) and both phones had been sent to "stock" and could not be returned

They must think I am dumb............I am not letting this rest I will keep on at them and I WILL report to every consummer show govening body, offcom TV if I have to!

    I AM SOOOOOOOOOOO MAD
  • Wish I'd come across this thread before. I sent away three phones last week. One to Envirofone, one to RPCRecycle and one to MobilePhoneXchange. RPC were very quick to settle up, but I got a mail from Envirofone tonight.

Apparently the Nokia N95 I sent them has a "loose back cover", so they're reducing the amount they offered by a third. Now I'm pretty anal (or so my family says) about using screen protectors and cases, so I'm very, very dubious about this. Needless to say I rejected their (insulting!) offer.

Reading the posts here makes me dread that I'm going to get a jiffy bag full of "wreckage" back rather than the pristine phone I sent them. Not happy at all!
  • Hello

Just got a call from Envirofone, saying my LCD on by HTC Desire was cracked.

Strange because it was originally a 'fault' which I asked them to check out again, 2 days later a phone call saying it's cracked. They needed a second look to check it's cracked?

Well, asked for it back, pretty certain it will be cracked since my phone call but 99% sure it wasn't when they took it out of the envolope.

This phone survived 2 years of living in my pocket in which I mostly stumbled around from pub to pub never breaking it. Yet I'm to believe it couldn't handle a Special Delivery from Manchester to Macclesfield? Liars.

    Any one have any advise?

    NEVER USE ENVIROFONE
  • Has anyone tried reporting this company to the Trading Standards Dept ? I believe that you have to contact Citizens Advice first and get forwarded on to TSD through their channels. If they are breaking any laws then TSD have to legally take action against the company.
  • sorry update...have just written to ENVIROFONE asking about their trading practises with a copy sent to my local CAB office asking this to be passed on to Trading Standards...so we will have to see what happens.

nearly a month later now since i sent my phone back to them, they are asking me for proof that i had fitted a new screen to it before i sent it to them, obviously just looking for a way out.

I do have a receipt for a brand new lcd but its not the point, should i not have it the problem would be the same.

I now have had no phone or no money for 2 months from these jokers.

I sold my phone to the above, when recieved I was informed the back case was cracked and theat the sum would reduce by 50%, I asked them to send back as I could get 2 new backs for £3 on ebay.

I ordered these, and recieved them the same day the phone was returned (the phone had no crack)

I sent the phone back to envirphone, along with a covering letter and the 2 additional backs, as I have no use for these with my new phone.

I again recieved an email saying the back was damaged. When I called to challenge stating that there were 3 backs in the envelope etc.. and I had photos of the previousley returned phone with no damage after they stated there was, they said they would look again.

Suprise when they looked again the crack had repaired itself, but they would not refund the cost of the additional backs posted as a gesture of goodwill, as they did not ask for these.

Conartists, looking for peole to accept the phone is damaged and pay them less.....
