My hubby sent his iphone off to Envirophone and was also told that it had a cracked back and we would not get the full value! We knew this was not the case as we sent it insured and very well packaged.

Out of principle we got them to return the phone and there was not a mark on it! Why don't they just stop taking iphones if they can't shift them...or they are just trying it on!

Sorry to hear your experience with Envirofone didn't meet your expectations. For us to pay for a phone to be sent in and then return by special delivery costs us in the region of £10. It is a sure fast way of us as a company loosing money.

The iPhone 4 has a common fault. Please google 'iPhone cracked back'.

The crack is a fracture and is hard to see. It sometimes can look like a scratch, especially on the white casing. Components are attached to the back casing and need to be detached and then welded back on if the phone is to be refurbished.

If you look on line the average price for a iPhone back casing is £60. This is before the 40 minutes for labour to replace the casing is taken into consideration.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you and wish you luck in getting a good price for your mobile phone.

Although i had a good experience selling to envirofone others didn't.

But when envirophone say theres cracks on the back case or so why should it matter as the phones are being recycled.

Especially not taken seriously since he says the iphone 4 has a common fault then goes on to ask you to google a fault common with the iphone 3g.

As a side note, white iphone 4 should be released in the next week :T yet to look into it as i've been busy with a sick friend but last month they said mid-July :D I'm oh so tempted.

    For £60 see around a tenner: http://www.cocogadgets.com/product_info.php?language=en&currency=GBP&products_id=523

And for 40 minutes see about 15: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVKjCi35GGk

Thought I should post an update on my iPhone 3G with supposed 'cracked back'...

Envirofone returned it, and after looking with a magnifying glass, there was indeed a *hairline* fracture between the headphone socket and the bezel - but certainly something I'd never noticed in all the time I used it (and I'd kept it pristine, with a Zagg shield on) - no way worth a £100 deduction.

I sent it instead to Mazuma, and had a cheque back for the full value within 48 hours. Draw your own conclusions...
  • I have a problem with envirophone also, I sent them a phone which i was told it was worth £60 in an argos voucher and after a month I had not heard from them so after a telephone conversation was told they had sent me an email to explain the phone had red flag attached to it...and had been destroyed!!

I then emailed the company to which I recieved a reply explaining they always email you and if you do not reply with 28 days they then destroy the phone BUT DO THEY????

If I had recieved and an email I would have contacted them they said they sent it on 7th July I checked all email they hadnt sent 1 at all (I always keep email only delate social network ones)
I will never recommend this company to anyone we always had used the other company before but thought we would give them a try well they blew that one didnt they..
  • My daughter sent her mobile to Envirofone, received two emails saying that the phone had been received and then that it had been tested and passed. Four days later she received a letter saying that they'd received the packaging but no phone and enclosing a Royal Mail claim form.

I wonder how many people are told the phone hasn't been received when in fact it has. They wouldn't have to pay out and I doubt very much if Royal Mail would, so the only loser (as usual) is the customer.
