Envirofone damaged phone?

I also sent my iPhone 3G 16GB to Envirophone and was told it had a 'cracked back', with the revised offer being more than £100 less.
On phoning Envirophone they told me the crack was a hairline fracture around the USB port, and the operator actually used the words 'barely noticeable'...
Needless to say I asked them to return the phone to me.
Does anyone know if Money4MyMobile is any better? Their site specifically says they'll pay out the full amount on phones with minor cracks due to natural wear & tear.0 -
I cant even get my phone back from Envirofone. They have "seized" it because it was reported lost once during the phones life (wasnt me that reported it stolen, previous owner) - the owner must have phoned back to get it unblocked after finding it, and o2 havent updated the national database. So when Envirofone checked the IMEI number, they think I'm trying to be dodgy, so they have seized the phone and wont return it or pay up.
Lucky it was only a £12 phone.0 -
Envirofone really messed up with me (see above) and I demanded that they recheck my phone for damage. Upon revision, they then changed their offer from £80 to £130 without me even asking! I assume this is because the person who tested it was in a better mood than before? Ok, it's not the full £185 that I was originally quoted, but it's a start.
I was also given the same explanation as some of you, in regards to a barely noticeable "Hairline Crack" around the USB port, and if it's such a pathetic amount of damage why can't it be covered by their Terms and Conditions, under their "general wear and tear" policy? I'm appalled that they tried to offer me such a low amount, but still managed to "up" their offer without any prompting. If it was so easy to offer me £130, why didn't they do that in the first place? Did the crack slightly heal itself during the week, therefore increasing the phones value by £50? I somehow doubt it. I'll never use them again, and I won't be recommending them to anyone either.
They're also justifying the damage by saying it's a common fault with Iphones, and even if it is, isn't it nice that they took note of the information and continually use it as an excuse, just to screw Customers? I know my phone wasn't damaged, they know my phone wasn't damaged, but they're abusing a possibility, just to get one over on us.0 -
following on from my 1st post above... Envirophone have now decided my old iPhone 3G is actually totally fine, the 'small crack' has mysteriously disappeared, and they're back to offering me the full £155.10.
I strongly suggest anyone getting the same "damage" email response as I reported above to call their customer service line, and argue a) it wasn't damaged when you sent it, and b) that its ironic that other iPhone users have been getting the exact same email, with the exact same price reduction.
anyone thinking of using Envirophone for their old iPhones, I'd a) take photographs of it from all angles, showing no damage (albeit apart from scuff marks, etc) b) wrap it in bubble wrap and parcel tape in such a way that Fort Knox would be proud of your security measures, and c) defend your full sale price until the cows come home.0 -
i have used a company called fonebank they are spot on, really quick to pay out, i have sent some really crappy phones to them before some that were in really bad nick and they did not quibble what so ever.
they may not pay as much on some phones, but do pay more on others.
fonebank = iphone 3g 8gb they offer 142.00, 16gb = 165.00
envirophone = 8gb - 130.00 and 16gb 160.04
envirophone may advertise allot but they are not the highest payer in the market:j:beer: :beer::j0 -
I actually got £155 for an Iphone 3g 8gb three weeks ago from Envirofone. I did shop around and there was barely anything in it. I didn't check the wear and tear small print though.... glad there was nothing wrong with it.0

I think the trouble comes when you try to recycle a phone you havent owned for the whole of the phones life. Second hand phones could have been reported lost/stolen or could have been blocked for another reason. Once the IMEI number has been blocked, regardless of if it has been unblocked again, it comes up with a red flag on the phone recycler's computer and they wont buy it, but they wont send it back either. Government rules apparantly.........0

My hubby sent his iphone off to Envirophone and was also told that it had a cracked back and we would not get the full value! We knew this was not the case as we sent it insured and very well packaged.
Out of principle we got them to return the phone and there was not a mark on it! Why don't they just stop taking iphones if they can't shift them...or they are just trying it on!0 -
