Orange Broadband - 50% price increase !!

I've been getting free broadband with Orange for 3 years after taking out a mobile phone contract with them, a 50% rise would be devastating for me lol.
Seriously, should I expect to be charged anytime soon?
Quite probably; they are obviously working through all their customer groups as indicated by the first letter/post in May and mine in July. Good luck!0 -
I got the same letter today and just came off the phone to Orange.
They said the only improvement was that I'd be changing to an unlimited package.
(I'm currently on a 10GB limit for £12.99 a month.)
I get frequent disconnections which sometimes causes my download speed to drop to 120k for 3 days.
I've wasted hours on the phone to them trying to resolve the matter so this letter was the final straw.
They said they would email my MAC code within 3 days and I'm moving to Sky.0 -
We had our letter Friday.Have been with them since the Freeserve days.Ours is going up 100% from £9-99 to £19-99 a month.........Needless to say weve asked for our MAC code...We don't use the phone side of it and we only get 1.2 meg ...only problem is nearly all of the other ISP you need to have a BT landline and we dont.
We have our landline with talk-talk and are saving £40 a quarter compared to BT. When we signed up for landline phone with talk talk about 2.5 yrs ago they said we would have Free broadband after the 1st Christmas , needless to say it didn't happen as Its not available in our area..From what i've heard I dont think we'd want Talk - Talk broadband anyway.........Any suggestions would be appreciated..0 -

They require a BT based landline (that's one that uses BT's network), not that you need to have a BT line provided by BT Retail... you'll be able to use almost any ISP when using TalkTalk as your phone supplier...0 -
I've had exactly the same letter today, tomorrow I'll be ringing up for a MAC code and then finding out who's cheapest in my area currently unless they can come up with some sort of offer.0

They are not making any offers - suffer the increase "being forced on us by BT, blah, blah"; or do as everyone else is and get your mac code to leave Orange forever.0 -
With my MAC code in the post, I decided to join O2 yesterday. I thought the process was brilliant with text messages and emails sent from O2 immediately. Shortly afterwards, I realised that I didn't do it via Quidco
Do you think I can cancel the order and reorder or should I chalk it down to stupidity?
BTW, the helpful Orange CS person said there wouldn't be a early cancellation charge as they were changing the service0 -

Got the same letter yesterday £9.99-£19.99I phoned Orange and at first they said there would be a fee of £52 to cancel my contract that expires in January but when asked they said there was no charge if i cancel within 30 days of the date on the letter. I think the 30 day thing applies to any change to your contract. At first i was all for leaving Orange but most of the deals available with other isp's aint that much cheaper, is it really worth moving to save £4 per month ? then again it's the principle i guess.
Anyone with Virgin ? recommend them ? I would like to go with O2 but i am not in their area0 -

If you are happy with the service they provide and cant find cheaper then stick.
Also ask yourself does the £19.99 include line rental (worth £11.25) and phone? If not or partially , those costs will be added on top or being paid else ware so you may be better with another package or provider.
Post office for example do Unlimited Broadband and phone + line rental for £25 a month. Orange on LLU still do this for £24 a month but non LLU customers are being moved to £32 in line with other providers. This is because other providers not on LLU in your area have to pay to use the line basically. You can check who is on LLU or not by going to Samknows and using exchange search. Just enter your phone number and it will tell you what services are available. http://www.samknows.com/broadband/0
