WHAT I NEED TO ASK IS< HAS ANYONE CHECKED THE CONTRACT DETAILS, I am on a twelve month agreement and wish to change. Is there anyone out there who knows the legality of changing pricing structure mid term, more importantly, can I get out of the contract because of the amount of the increase?

Have you had a letter increasing your costs? If so you have 30 days from reciept to get out of contract.

I received a letter today saying "Youll be pleased to know that were making some important improvements to our broadband service and you should notice an all-round better connection"

but then goes on to say " these changes mean that your current package is no longer available unfortunately your subscription will increase within 30 days and youll be moved to our new 'Broadband Max(Off Net) package and your new monthly tarrif will be £19.99."

Im currently paying 12.99 but does this sound like they are changing to LLU in my exchange or is it a standard letter everyones getting?

Im just baffled about the first statement and whatever the NEW Broadband Max(off net) is!!!

    Thanks

Boradband Max is £23pm and included calls. Unless the £19 is without calls>?????

Well I have just gone with PostOffice Broadband today. The second letter/email Orange have sent out might be a desperate grasp at straws. Perhaps a lot of people are leaving and they are trying to keep them. My exchange has no LUU so orange shouldn't be dong any work unless they are going LUU. If thats the case they should have told us all that first and not increased the price.

I hope they are not going LUU now after all this- if they were however why would the price be going up?? if your exchange is going LUU it should be the same as current LUU customers are not effected by the increase.

Orange price list hasn't changed either. This is all very confusing. Anyway I'm moving from them now, the paperwork is all done. I should save more money on PO with the mobile rates they have.

  • i like others here have had the letter from orange of the notice of increase of my broadband, mine from £12/month to £19/month. rang them up, asked for my code. the operator explained it was all to do with BT, as they had increased the charge to orange for use of the exchange.
after much searching for new provider, found many of the main providers have put a charge on the service through the BT excahnge like orange have. so much for choice in this country!!!, seems BT are just trying to squeeze the others out of the frame.
i would never go back to BT, have not had there service for several years, they are expensive, slow, and the call center is a days work to get anything done.
i changed to Primus several yars ago, on the option 2 saver, unlimited calls 24/7 for £5.99/month plus line retal all for £14.99.
as much as i see others have had problems with Primus, i for one have only had good service. i just set my Mum up with them on their Broadband and talk package, for £29/month. this included line rental, unlimited calls 24/7 and broadband unlimited(fair usage).they do charge £30 for the wireless router, which is not the best, a thompson, which is ok. but there again a netgear or similar would not be much more so you can keep your own or pay the one off price for the router.
the call center is in india, which i hate, but when setting up router, i must give credit, the chap on the end of the phone was very helpful and got me through it.
i am not promoting Primus, nor any other provider, but for me the phone service has been fine.the cheapest i could get in my area was from TalkTalk which came in at £32, but limited usage on download.
Orange did offer an alternative....get a mobile with them, and you can have the broadband cheaper, £17/month....yeah ok orange mobile contract £15/month...add the £17 ...sorry dont see where the saving is in this one.???:rotfl:
hope this is of some help

Just a small point boys and girls; the letter from Orange gives you an 0844 number to call which is costly - use their free number 0800.9801492 which will get you through to the UK customer service centre, who will do the spiel and then transfer you to the people sorting out literally hundreds of migration requests.:D
  • Orange are cack at providing signal in a big city i live in!
