    Hi
I received my letter last week and, like just about everyone else here, I was suitably stunned.
    But ...
I have the Broadband Max package giving me 8mb uncapped, second phone line which gives free calls to Orange mobiles (all our family is on Orange), free calls to 30 countries (relatives live in one and others regularly visit another) as well as free calls 24/7 to UK landlines. And it includes line rental.
Changing to this package from BT landline and separate ISP, taking into account all the above freebies, saved me in the region of 60% of our average total bill, so I still don't see that I can beat the package at the new price.
Obviously I am pretty unhappy about the increase but, contrary to so many posts, I get in excess of 6mb download consistently and have done from the day I signed up. I have never had a dropped connection nor an interruption.
Before anyone asks, I do not work for Orange, all I can do is tell you all my experience.
If anyone knows of a better package giving similar benefits to the above I really would like to know.

    Post Office Broadband.
    £25pm..
    8MB Unlimited
    Wireless Box
    Evening and Weekend Calls
10 'Loved Ones' numbers for 10% discount on all calls during the day inc. mobs
Free Mobile calls at Weekend (Friday Evening to Monday Morning)
    Linerental Included
No other charges - Free set-up.

Only difference to Orange is no VOIP Second Line and free Orange mobile calls 24/7. There are questions over network capacity and speed. I'm thinking about PostOffice BB but also looking at Sky TV and Broadband.

How are people saying it is costing them £30+?

£32-plus, to be exact.....from approx £23, [plus the cost of chargeable calls]

The reason is, no orange coverage here, so orange broadband [roughly 4 megs on a good day] delivered via BT [wholesale]...and it's BT who have raised the price to Orange [and others]...

[I only get one bill, as Orange provide broadband AND phone]

I have also attempted a feeble investigation of O2 as an ISP....again due to being decidedly rural, they can only offer the standard package, at £17....I have an O2 pay-as-one-goes mobile....and the discount applies if I top up £10 now and then..which I do so anyway....

The first two months are offered free....so it's £170 and a bit, for the first year.

On top of that there's going to be line rental....which is...? anyone??

'POst Office' include line rental, and their promotion works out slightly less than O2.....however, with two free months, I get the feeling O2 may just pip them over the year....

    am I right?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Depends on who you choose as your landline supplier. O2 dont offer a landline/calls service.

I moved from Orange to PlusNet nearly a month ago after getting my letter, but after checking my orange email account (which I was quite surprised was still active) I received an email saying that they'd be doing work to upgrade my line...

Sigh. Wondered if this was a standard email and if anyone else got it who has switched?

spacer.gifspacer.gifspacer.gifspacer.gifYou recently received a letter from us about changes to your broadband service.

During the next week, we’ll be completing some work at your local exchange, which should mean you’ll get a more stable connection and possibly even an increase in your broadband speed...............

I got my letter on Monday stating that my package is no longer available and that I would be moved to a new monthly tariff of £19.99. I was paying £12.99.
I have asked for my MAC but so far I haven't found a new supplier. O2 does not cover this area. Any advice?

Just received my letter, spoken to Orange. Clearly they do not care about our business. I was on 9.99 per month with 6 months free. Now they want to put it up to 19.99........ no chance!

I have requested my MAC key / migration code, should be with me in 5 working days. When I receive it o2 looks the best deal for me (local LLU) will let you know how I get on.

Can't believe that any company would be so stupid as alienate their customers with such sharp practices.

Over the next few months I will ensure that the other 3 family broadband accounts and the 5 Orange mobile phones that I set up for family and friends will all be moved.

    Good business move Orange

Thats because they have no choice. If your not on an Orange LUU then the fee will go up as Orange used to pay BT for using the lines. Now Orange (like many other ISP's) has passed the bill onto the customer.

When going to another ISP always factor in the price of linerental and phonecalls. With O2 You then have to pay linerental and calls are not included.

Does this mean the exchange is going to LUU? Currently its all BT wholesale. I'm very confused as Orange dont 'use' my exchange. Should I stick and see what happens or keep the process of moving going?
