we got the same letter last week. contacted orange and because we complained within 30 days of the letter have managed to get out of a 18 month contract without penalty.we have already got the mac code off orange. They did not try to keep us at all.
Got my letter yesterday. As I upgraded to Home Max a year ago I am still in contract until November-ish, but will I be able to get out of it unpenalised because of their unfair price rise? How hard have people found this so far? Want to change to cheaper provider (prob with TV too) but don't want huge penalties.
I got cross enough with orange when I moved house recenlty and it took them 6 weeks to get my broadband running again (though they inconveniently moved my homephone days early!). Although I had a LOVELY CS lady who got me 2 months free and free dial up for a week in the end. But I think I was just lucky there!
Also, how do I find out my connection speed? I have no idea where to look!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I received the same letter regarding the price increase. My new monthly tariff would be £19.99 (I only receive 1/2 meg speed at the best). This is 1 increase too many. I have been with the company since the days of freeserve. I rang them for my MAC code and they said they would email it to me. I have not received it yet so I rang them again and was told it takes 3 to 5 days?? Does anyone know if I can keep my email address if I switch to another broadband provider? I am considering the Post Office package at £24.99 including inclusive evening and weekend calls and line rental. Can anyone recommend it?0

I empathise with you all...have just received a similar email notification from AOL (been with them years) and my monthly charge is increasing from £9.99 to £17.99 - an 80% jump. Am in a rural exchange which isn't unbundled so not much hope of getting anything else lower.butterfly )i(0

I also am looking at the post office (having made my displeasure clear to orange!) for both broadband and phone. Checked on Which site, and appears reasonable, but not enough respondents to the survey to give feedback on service, support, etc. Could someone who has this bundle please help us out here? Thanks
I have just requested my MAC from Orange... actually got through to a British person who didn't feed me lies and the script and was very pleasant and easy.
I'm moving to Post Office Broadband as its the best value I can get in my area.(£25) My exchange has no LUU services and all providers basically charge extra (like Orange) because they have to Pay BT. TalkTalk for example in my area is £32 no the advertised price.
So if your exchange is like mine then you shouldn't notice any difference in quality of service as its the same line switched over to a different provider.
look at Samknows to see what services your exchange has and if any LUU providers are on- LUU will mean price will be cheaper.0 -

have you done some sums? remember that you may also have linerental (£11.25) and calls to pay for. It might be cheaper going on a all-in-one pack like Post Office Broadband.0 -
Hi everyone, im also going to move from Orange due to the extortionate price increase which in the letter stated it was for the benefit of its customers. On the phone they admitted it was because BT are charging them more . Ive been with them from the start and never had any problems but i cant accept this price increase. Ive pretty much chosen to transfer to the post office broadband and phone package although before i commit to it im just wondering if anyone has already taken the plunge and can they tell me how long it took for the changeover from orange to post office to take place and how smoothly it went. Thanks - Adam0

Well I range for my MAC on Monday and they said its 5 working days to get that!... why on earth its 5 days just to generate a code i don't know but change over can take 2+weeks.
I'm not shure what they do about the monthly bill either. mine is on the 6th of each month and I cant see myself being switched over by then.0 -
got the letter today, on home max so its an £8 jump. i have wanted to leave before but this is definitly making me want to go. i reckon they know they have us by the b**ls if you live outside the zone and that we cant get a better deal anywhere. Unless you are with o2 of course which my girlfriend is so i will be trying to move to that.
maybe if a lot of people start leaving they will revert back to the old price0 -
