TT broadband-Hard to leave, Beware! (merged)

As the OP, I would like to add my two pennies worth in particular to espresso:
1. I can't fathom you out. I have come across you elsewhere on occasion and you have been really helpful to people; myself included. Yet on other occasions you have been frankly unpleasant and rude to people to the point of having your posts removed.
Why? What do you gain from this? Do you feel better for it? This is such a useful forum. I and many other people gain valuable information from it. Unpleasanteries are so unnecessary.
2. It would seem many other people have very negative experiences of TT so my experience clearly was not a one-off. When people have been more positive, I have noted that TT is still their ISP. Please reread the title of this thread: "TT Broadband-Hard to leave, Beware!". As I’ve mentioned before, I too was quite happy with TT until I wanted to leave and needed to contact CS.
Maybe I should amend the title to:
“ Unless you want to stay with TT forever, Beware!”
I am sorry you feel the people here rant about TT. Looking back maybe I was ranting. I remember being utterly frustrated with this company. I do not regret starting this thread though. I feel people should know the downside of this high profile company and boy does it have a downside.
I am very happy with my new ISP. I had never heard about it until coming on this forum. I shall continue to monitor this section of the forum over the months to come so that if I choose to change ISP I can make an informed decision. I will privately decide if people’s comments are valid ones or not.
See you around, hopefully in nicer circumstances.0 -
Hi sloughflint,
As I said in my post to dan2002, "The title of this thread is TT Broadband-Hard to leave, Beware! which may well be true!" and I do think that you were right to start this thread for the benefit of others.
I can fully understand your frustrations when trying to leave TT and I am pleased to hear that you are now happy with your new ISP.
However another poster was ranting on about the TT service, although the service worked with the TT supplied equipment and the problem was due the users own equipment. I thought this was a rather unjustified rant in this thread, which is why I posted and I apologise for hijacking your thread and the resultant flaming.

My Dad has been obsessing about switching to Talk Talk ever since they launched their deal and it's getting increasingly hard to persuade him to not switch.
Although there are many reporting hassles with Talk Talk, there are also some happy customers as far as I can see.
I'm relatively happy for him to switch to try them out, as long as he knows I don't approve and he won't blame me if it all goes pear-shaped!0 -
I'm not having trouble getting away from TT, I'm having trouble getting a darned broadband connection. Although we ordered it on 11April 2006, as exchange has not been upgraded to allow fast broadband TT cancelled the order. Didn't bother to tell us though even after sending them e-mails asking what was going on. Apparently we will be getting a 512 broadband connection soon. I don't think I can hold my breath much longer.
SO BE AWARE, BE VERY AWARE0 -

well their 'free' broadband isnt going to take place until september & even then its a maybe0 -
finally managed to break free from these scammers on the 8th May when my broadband was migrated to Eclipse, but lo and behold have just received a Broadband bill wanting me to pay until 21st June.
These people should be called "all TALKTALK no action"0 -
^^ :ditto:
These !!!!!!!s still want paying for time when I wasn't even connected to their service. What have you/will you be doing about it ricky? I called to complain but never got the promised callback (surprise surprise). Will be writing to them this week.0 -
Well i called Talktalk-NoAction and CS monkey said i was 'in the process of being disconnected', (wow how long does it take - gave them the 30 days notice on 7th April) but then he took the strange step of advising me to cancel the direct debit just in case!!! Did that anyway, but now lets see whats on my NEXT bill!!!
Bets are on that it will be exactly the same....0 -
When I called, they reckon that my 30 days notice starts when they give out the MAC number - which unsurprisingly was 3 weeks after I requested it (which IMHO was when I gave my 30 days notice).0
