Well true to form, I migrated on 08/05/06 and have just received a bill for charges from 10/05/06 to 09/06/06.

I requested MAC on 04/04/06 and received the email with the link to the online form on that date (I assumed this is the date that I gave my 30 days notice). I finally battered them enough to get a MAC on the phone on 25/04/06. And the service migrated 08/05/06.

I rang up to complain and got put to someone in India. They tried to tell me that the 30 days notice starts when I get given the MAC, and that I owe them for service up until 30 days from that date (i.e. 23/05/06) and that the bill is correct and I need to pay it.

After 30 minutes of shouting at the !!!!, he promised to get a supervisor to call me back after investigating it within the next 24 hours. Hmm yeah pigs will fly!

Anyway, going to leave it and see if they do what they say. Got the guy's name and going to ring the CPW press office/HQ on Monday and pretend to be a newspaper reporter to !!!! them up if I don't hear from them tommorow. From then on, it will be recorded delivery letter and then small claims court if they try to take the money.

Also going to complain to HMRC that they are producingand sending VAT invoices which are false.

HMRC aren't going to give a stuff, TBH. Companies produce incorrect invoices all the time, and as long as they charge VAT on the amount invoiced, that's all that HMRC care about.

I'm sorry Ms-Money-Penny but you are probably not going to have an easy time of it. Let's assume TT do the procedure correctly!!!!
It's a bit hazy for me now but I think the form requires a date. If you fill in the form today and put say today's date on there, the mac code should be given to you in 14 days (from the date you enter) time allowing you enough time to give the code to new ISP before you go on your hollybobs. I think you'll need a holiday after that. You could call tomorrow and see if the email is showing on their system. If they say no, get them to send you another form, fill it in while you are on the phone to them and get them to complete an escalation form and also send you a test mail as proof of your conversation. Best of luck!
PS are you within your 12 month contract? If not you shouldn't have to pay a DF.

Im only in the third month but can only access their service through laptop and their modem, as it will not work via my pc although my pc works in other locations. Totally fed up , like i previously said dont care how much it is only i can't see my pc now as it is covered in cobwebs through not being used since March. TT are not interested quote "i can access their service through the laptop so tough luck basically to me"

Seeing as you are going to have to pay anyway, I would suggest any date ASAP because they are so unreliable in their interpretation. They have told some people that the 14 days start after the date you put on the form before getting the mac code.
What is supposed to happen is the date you put down should be the date you get the code.
That way hopefully you will get the code before you go away.
What I have never understood is why it should take so long to generate a code. I was with BT before going with TT. The guy did his utmost to convince me to stay and when he saw he wasn't getting anywhere with me, he gave the code there and then.

We were also with BT and never had any problems with them and also had the mac code straight away.

Read another thread about drtcp and it seems to have solved the problem - fingers crossed - but as soon as i can ditch TT the better

Thanks for the advice - the thanks button has disappeared again

Is your constant slagging off of Talk Talk in various different forum threads actually justified?

You have now admitted your problem was down to your inability to correctly configure your own wireless router to work with their service. i.e. the modem supplied by Talk Talk worked fine with one computer.

Took a while for the penny to drop didn't it Ms!

Talk Talk don't need moaning customers like you, but at least they will get their well deserved £70 early contract cancellation fee and several months line rental from you!

    :T

Yes my slagging off Talk Talk is justified if you had to put up with just being able to use a laptop via their modem , there was no problem with the router settings as we were talked through the configuring by the supplier.
Perhaps you haven't read other peoples threads and their problems with TT as well , i'm not the only one , yes i have been frustrated i am not a computer expert, i just follow the instructions . So my dont you shove off - other MSE's have been helpful - not everyone are computer geeks. This board is for helping other people so why dont you stick your comments where the sun dont shine and inf you can't say something helpful shut up

hi espresso you must work for talktalk because if you read all the forums you would see how bad this company is and if you do work for them you must like to see people get in to a rage about trying to leave a useless company ,if they were that good you would think they would be glad to get rid of us asap not try to hold on to people who just cant wait to leave, these people and by the way the more people read how bad they are the more might not join ,as I did say before ,if I were to stop 1 person joining I would be happy but I can tell you now I have persuade at least 6 from joining and just think if each 1 of them stop 1 person joining then word will get around ,so espresso get another life outside talktalk

To be honest I know that most providers will only test line if you are using there supplied equipment rather than a router

Been with them over 12 months, and no real complaints- better then my previous 2 providers - only issues seem to be with actual BT line to the exchange

All that I pointed out, was that it's not fair to constantly rant on about this ISP, when in fact it was the user who was incapable of setting up their own equipment correctly.

It's a bit like Ms-Money-Waster signing up for an 18 month Y-Mobile contract, and then after 3 months of trying to get her own ex Lemon Motorola V3 pink handset to connect to the net on Y-Mobile, giving up and asking if she can cancel her direct debit!

There are two sides to every argument and as with all service providers, you will find those that like to rant about their bad experiences as well as those who are satisfied like payless!
