If you use "3 like home" read this- possible reason to cancel??

  • Thats good news givemethemoney. I'm going to have another bash with them tomorrow. I'm not prepared to give up on this one, I've quite got to enjoy arguing the toss with three (its not the first time!).

    Hopefully with all these people cancelling, Three might think twice before dropping a service their customers like so much! I chose them over their competitors because of it... now it's gone they're going to be dumped, unless they come up with something absolutely brilliant for rates around Europe to replace it. Would have to be as good as 3 like Home was though, since I'm only really in Austria and Italy in any case.

    Well I guess what's happening is its being dropped due to the new EU price caps coming into force; 9p per text, 25p per minute outbound call, and some other cap on data charges which I can't remember.
    Looks like 3 are trying to make up for the drop in profits as a result of this.
    Meanwhile have you seen the new vodafone passport service? They're dropping ALL roaming charges in I think 37 countries as a promotion for 3 months this summer.

    Exactly. I'm going to cancel 3 and get a SIM only Vodafone contract for this summer.

    Well seemingly you have to have had the text, I know someone recieved it on 2 of 3 contracts but not the 3rd but its not showing up on the account as having recieved the texts & 3 Contact Centre are saying to wait for a 24 hrs update period....away to call back on behalf of that person as 24 hrs is up
    SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

    I have 3 accounts with Three and all were taken out because of the Like Home, as we spend about 2 months each year in Sydney so this change is a huge problem for us.

    I want to cancel all of them, has anyone who has not had the txt managed to cancel their accounts without any penalty??

    I wonder why they are taking their time to let some of us know about ths change?

    Did anyone else get the message from three - It opens a link ( which I appear not allowed to post!)with a page about this
    at the end it states
    "finally because of the 3 Like home change, it's only fair that we point out your right to end your contract with us, without paying an early cancellationfee. However we are very much hope it won't come to that ...."

    I tried to telephone 3 but no shift apart from ofer to credit £20 to my account. Does anyone think this would change things??

    The link states that it is only fair of three to point out to you that you have the right to end your contract with them but that they hope that is not the case.

    I didn;t think 3home was a promotional offer at all. I've never subscribed to it (knowingly) and work in Austria quite a lot and found my calls are 'free' as they use up my inclusive minutes first and then onto the Eu rate calls.

    I'd have though any change in pricing structure would be a formal change of contract terms - whether those changes are brought due to EU law or whether a free offering is eing withdrawn, it still has a 'value' attached to it (ie, if those free inclusive minutes are now going to cost customers x pence then that is a fundamental change in the contract pricing.

    I'm happy enough with three so not wanting to change, but just adding to the debate.

    Absolutely unbelievable!

    I received a text message advising of the change today and called 3 looking for a PAC code. After an extended conversation the customer service agent denied that 3 sent me any such message!

    I have no idea what 3 are playing at. But, of course, it only encourages me further to pursue this to the bitter end.
