Actually, termination of the contract is not the issue (as she's already completed her 18 months), it's reversal of the £172 charge. Using the "3 Like Home" service was never about saving money; it just made it convenient for her to call home. Up until having this service, I used to ring Hong Kong for 2p/minute via TELEDISCOUNT.CO.UK. Had we known that she was being charged £1.50/minute, I think it likely we would have reverted to using that!
UPDATE:
Despite "3" saying they would call back in 48 hours, they didn't - so she's just rung them. Going through the whole tale again, this time she was told that she was notified by TEXT and the charges would stand. She definitely wasn't notified by text...she doesn't communicate by SMS, so virtually every one she has ever received in still in the handset. There's nothing on that topic from "3".
She pointed out that the guy she spoke to on Sunday had agreed that this service was still on the web-site, which was a major issue for them, but - guess what ... it's not there now!!. It's a good job I've got a hard copy and you lot to 'bear witness' ;-)
Anyway, CS rep #2 is going off to speak to CS rep #1 - if he acknowledges that the service was still on the website on Sunday, the charges will be reversed. Otherwise, it will be time to investigate the workings of the Small Claims Court...0 -
I was randomly browsing and remembered this thread .. wondering if Phil had any joy ?0

It took quite a few more phone calls, but yes, they finally managed to refund the £172.
They wriggled and procrastinated over it though, so you won't be surprised to learn that she's no longer a "3" customer (and neither am I). When my daughter's contract is up, that won't be renewed either.0 -
Excellent stuff. Glad to hear it0

3 still owe me I think £1.36 over this (according to them, although I think its £8something). I keep meaning to sue them over it. Charging the £10 an hour I said I would when I wrote to ask for it months ago, of course. Unsurprisingly the cheque within 14 days never appeared.0
