Have you heard anything back from 3, I know phoning them is an ordeal but you may be lucky and get to speak to someone half decent at billing and get them to explain, I see you phoned to cancel on the 19th of May, and used your PAC code on the 29th, could the extra be due to the balance of the 30 days notice or something similar?
No - I'm afraid. had a bill for 30 last month. This bill is clearly marked cancellation charges and is over 4 months line rental.
No reply as yet. Will give them til monday to email, then I will ring exec office. I will not be able to communicate with the call centre as this is a non-standard enquiry and the script will be that I have to pay the charges.0 -

Good luck mate, hope you get this resolved soon, please keep us updated.
My sister in law and I both cancelled around the same time as you but went to PAYG.
We both have our final bills and Direct debits due to be paid shortly, but because you have to wait the full 30 days to be transferred to PAYG its nearly 2 months since we cancelled, hoping we don't get any nasty surprises at this late stage!!
Like you I wonder if anyone else has had a cancellation charges letter?0 -

Heard nothing since then.
I wonder why some people got a final bill with a bank giro for payment, some didn't, got a bill saying "we will take your payment by direct debit as normal" and then had there Direct debits cancelled by 3?
Just sums them up I suppose, a total farce!0 -
Strange problem here, I pay £35 a month line rental and got my PAC 15th June think my month starts around the 12th so if I owed anything it would be 3 extra days rental.
Since I moved house around same time I wasnt able to get my final bill(and my ex flatmate is visiting family himself) I just had my DD set up as usual.
Checked my bank account yesterday and found £50 taken off in 1 transaction, another £10 for something else and £5 for mobile BB which is strange since my mobile BB account is currently £15 in credit and I got an invoice online saying my account is in credit, no payment required!
Anyway a bit more info, 3 kept pestering me with calls about staying and eventually gave me my £35 tariff for £15 and offered me a new Sony Ericsson 7 megapixel phone if I took a 12 month contract out, I agreed since the phone is worth £300 new and I need cash so was gonna sell it(or sell my old one and keep this one)
The phone arrived on Tuesday literally an hour before I planned to go away for the week, it wasnt till the next day that I realised they gave me a different cheap phone(like £50 new)
So theres a few problems!
I tried ringing 3 but as its the weekend they were closed.
My theory is they have taken the old price of £35 and £15 the new price so are charging me for 2 phones despite only have 1 sim card!0 -

Had a call from the Exec office (who originally said they had passed this to CS!!). Now if three could have CS staff who were like this lady, they would have kept more business.
Anyway, the upshot is that the call centre hadn';t processed the "no charges" bit of my contract cancellation on the system by mistake. They have cancelled the reissued bill and are emailing me to this effect to confirm this. I also got an apology!0 -
Glad that I subscribed to this thread, I just checked with my bank as 3 where due to take final payment off me today.
Bank confirmed that 3 have cancelled my direct debit so how could 3 get their moneyI made a payment over the phone via my bank to 3 and they said it should get there today or tomorrow.
My final bill did not have a bank giro slip attached, are 3 trying to get extra charges or something?
Anyway bank said their is no way for 3 to take any money out of my account as they would need me to authorise the direct debit to be reinstated.
Please let this be the last dealing I have with them over this.Money saving newbie but learning fast:D0 -

That is excellent news mate, thank you for taking the time to let us know that things worked out OK for you, I am sure more than a few people would have been worried about getting the same kind of letter so now they can relax!0 -
I've been reading through all these posts trying to find out if anyone has successfully canceled their three contract AFTER the 30 day limit.
My boyfriend called up to cancel his contract when he heard about 3 like home ending, as he'd only taken out a contract because of that offer, and spends most of the year touring in the countries where it would have been available.
The woman on the phone told him to WAIT until the new roaming tariffs came out on 1st july, and if these were not satisfactory to him, he could cancel then. There was no mention of any 30 day cancellation period.
He called back on 1st july to be told he'd left it too late and could no longer cancel. After arguing for over an hour on the phone that he'd been mislead, 3 agreed to review the situation and call back the following week. Around 7 days later they left a voicemail saying it was fine to cancel his contract. Great, we thought.
However, as there are no direct extensions in the call centres, he cant get through to the same person who said this, and now every other person, including managers, he speaks to insist he is not allowed to cancel. They claim there are no notes of the discussions he had previously, so there is no proof he was either told he should wait to cancel, or even that it was agreed he could!
We recorded the voicemail stating the cancellation would be allowed, and told them that we had this as proof but they said still there was no-one who could approve the cancellation in the whole company! Which is obviously a lie if they have managed to cancel so many other people's. And why would they agree to it in the first place, and then backtrack?
It says that written complaints can take up to 6 weeks to process, and then another 6 weeks if it goes to an arbitrator - that's 3 more months of paying for service he can't use, so my boyfriend is refusing to do this and has canceled his direct debit, until the situation is resolved. He knows this could mean a bad credit mark but all they will do is cut off the phone eventually anyway, then demand an early termination fee which he will contest - and hopefully by the time this happens the situation will have been resolved through the complaints department anyway.
Has anyone else managed to get their contract canceled having requested to do so AFTER the 30 day cut off date? Any advice greatly appreciated on where we stand now.
Thanks,
Hannah :mad:0
