Does anyone know when they shut? I've been on the phone for ages waiting to be transferred to the right department!
ALthough they shut at 8 I think if you've been in the queue to them since before 8 you'll still get to speak to someone regardless of the time. I think :D
  • Hello all, just thought I would share my experiences in cancelling my contract in case it helps anyone.

I only have 3 mobile broadband with the Dongle, don’t have them as my mobile phone network provider thankfully. It was an 18 month contract and the only reason I got it was because of 3 Like Home which seemed an amazing deal and because I am moving to Dublin for 8 months next month. The connection is terrible btw, if you move the laptop an inch you can lose it and I am not exaggerating!

Firstly I went to a 3 shop to save myself some phone bills, and as usual the staff were abrasive, useless and just lounging around. Every question I asked was greeted with I dont know, you will have to phone customer services. It seems the only point of these stores are to sell you something, they cant help you once you have got it!

So i phoned customer services today, and got put through to, in my opinion, a very arrogant gentleman who said as I hadn’t used the service it didn’t affect me, even though explained that I was moving country but offered me £10 a month off my bill. I asked if I could transfer to 3 Ireland and told no.

Was transferred to disconnections. Spoke to a lovely Lady who said this was the first call she had received about this problem so was put on hold constantly everytime I asked questions but she was very helpful. Originally she said she could only cancel with a fee which would be £150 in my case, or I could transfer it to someone else for free. She said I would have to write email to complaints dept to try and get it done for free as she wasn’t able to. I talked to her about their T&Cs, stressed that I was would change to Ireland 3 if I could and asked how much it would cost me to use it abroad, and she replied truthfully, a lot. She seemed really sympathetic and wanted to help me so I got put on hold while she checked with manager and about 15 mins later she said she was allowed to cancel it for me now with no early cancellation fee! Said I could phone back end of May so I could use 3 Like Home until end of June, but didnt trust that the comment on my account would remain!

So took me about 45 mins, (in which time I was ‘googling’ the issue and surprised how many people were having problems!) and about £9 credit on my pay as you go phone but finally got it cancelled so my advice is just to explain why it will affect you, and just be polite and patient and ask lots of questions as to why they cant or wont!

    Good Luck :D

I'd have to agree with you there. A handful of savvy customers here who know their rights is not an accurate representation of the x thousand/million customers of 3 who have no idea about this. Still can't be doing them any favours!

    I was just curious

I didn't last night. Phone at 7.50pm and sat on hold for 1 hour 42 minutes before I was cut off.

Thank you for all your advice on this forum guys, been on the phone countless times but finally today I got my PAC code. It seems that saying the same thing 100 times changes your contract somewhat and you are able to leave without the ETF :)

I cannot stress enough how important it is to perceveir (sp?) on this case, it may feel like you are banging your head against a brick wall, but keep reiterating the fact that it is a detrimental change, and you have a legal right to leave the contract without the ETF, and they will cave.

Does anyone know if i can/have to cancel the direct debit now or will it be stopped automatically? Thanks again everyone

    SUCCESS !

PAC issued on 1 number that mate needs to keep but as he will be roaming has to PAC to o2 before leaving UK as you cannot PAC across to another UK network when roaming, Mobile broadband & MnM numbers are not important for losing so customer options offered to cancel NOW or use till 30 June with 3Likehome ( as mate will be using it in June ) then cancel FEE FREE on 30th June, or 30 days notice on 31st May ;)

Customer options politely argued to death on call ( again ) - I advised them from start I was recording call for Exec Office monitoring, Exec Office confirmed ONLY requirement is pre April 2009 connection for me, 3LH usage before April 2009 is irrelevant....as it will DIRECTLY impact the remainder of your contract period for pre April 2009 customers.

ALSO, not that I told 3, so it had no bearing on SUCCESS of invoking 10.1d clause, but....

A/c had no 3likehome usage EVER - last month in Sardinia could not connect to 3Italy & had to roam on SFR ( French) & Orange France, and due to a stuff up last year while in Ireland could not use sim at all through Europe & Ireland - yes had ROAMING activated before a smart bum mentions it LOL, had roamed previously worldwide
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

In regard to the dates, I am not sure if I can use this excuse to get out.

I purchased the phone on the 29th of March 2009, one of the letters that came with the phone has this date.

Another letter, the actual receipt is dated 31st March 2009.

My welcome letter is dated 1st April 2009.

The bill period on my first bill is 1st April 2009 and bill date is 2nd April 2009.

I will be trying to cancel tomorrow using the same excuse, but until then, based on the dates, am I eligible?

    Thanks alot.
