Just had to deal with PC Support online - hassling my PC novice parents telling them they were from Microsoft support and had identified a problem in their area with their software. Scared them into changing settings on PC (have yet to check what) but luckily Mum got so confused that she said they would have to call them later. Phone number to call back: 01422 893785. I phoned them - Indian call centre, denied saying they were from microsoft - they sell PC support. Grrr...0

Funny that, I have just had a call from BT Help and Support saying exactly what Supportonclick are saying. Unfortunately I subscribed to Supportonclick a year ago and at the time they did a good job, although I haven't needed them since! I have just tried to ring as my computer is on a go slow but the phone has been changed and there is no answer on the new number just now. Its all very worrying. Can't decide whether to contact them to help me as I paid for three years or leave well alone!0

Are you just trolling or plain stupid? I think we should be told.0

Just received a call from "My PC Care" telling me that Windows PCs in my area are being infected. This person asked for me by name and identified his company name at the beginning of the conversation.
It sounded like it was a call centre as there were others speaking in the background, although that could of course have been a recording. There was also a momentary silence at the beginning.
The scammer asked if I was in front of my PC a number of times, which I did not answer. I asked him how I could be sure to trust him, at which point he told me his company had a website.
Pen and paper in hand I waited for the website address. He asked me if I was in front of my computer again, to which I said I had a pen and paper and was going to take down the web address.
He gave up and ended the call.
A couple of recordings of these scammers:

Probably both.

My 88yr old mother keeps getting calls from 'Windows Repair Centre' saying they are coming round about her computer. She keeps telling them she doesn't have one. Today I happened to be there and told them not only she doesn't have one, I kept asking where they got her phone number from but they wouldn't say. They insisted 'her daughter' (ME) had told them she had a computer and they quoted her address and said they were coming round. They also kept calling me 'old woman' which I found offensive. She lives on her own and I am really concerned if anyone did turn up on her doorstep. This guy then put me onto a woman, but neither could speak English very well, it was very hard to understand them. I am assuming they are calling from India, that somehow it is a scam, but my mother DOES NOT HAVE A COMPUTER. What can I do? Telephone Preference Service have been a waste of time. I feel this is now getting to a stage of harrassment. If she had a block put on her phone line to allegedly stop withheld numbers (which she would have to pay for) would that stop the calls? Any suggestions greatly appreciated thanks. If she doesn't have a computer then why do they keep pestering her?0
