I've already posted this on the Utilities board, but I thought I'd post it here as well, because I know you folks are always full of great ideas which I've come to trust.

So - This morning, I have received my Interim Gas Payment Review from Seeboard. We are currently paying £35 per month .. they now want us to pay £48. I have no idea how to work out what kind of percentage increase that is - but it seems like a lot. I quail at the thought of what the Electricity one is going to be!

Anyway, the bill they sent details charges for the period 1 Dec - 3 March (I religiously give meter readings online each month) of £161.18. That works out, roughly, as £54 a month.

So it would seem as though they have factored in the theory that in the coming months we will not have cause to use the CH as much. Our only useage is the heating and the four burners on the hob. The cooker is elec.

    Our previous bill (2 Sept - 1 Dec) was £84.57. Roughly, £29 a month.

    Prior to that (24 June - 2 Sept) was £28.48. Roughly, £10 a month.

I would anticipate returning back to that level of useage, for the next three months and the three thereafter.

Having added up the bills for the last 12 months, it averages out at £32 pm. So where do they get off, requesting £48???

I just wanted to run this past you folks, before I go and create merry hell on the phone whilst utilising my best negotiating skills. :) Ideally, I'd be aiming for no increase, but if they insist, £40pm. I'll be darned if I'm going to let them accrue a credit against me - and earn interest off my money - while I'm scratching to find it in the first place!
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

PoshPaws I had a similar thing from the water board, rang them and they told me I was in credit, but they wanted to put the payment up by over 50% 'as there was a price rise in the pipeline' stuff that, agreed to pay them the % rise and no more.

    Morning everyone,

Not a happy bunny today, parents evening for DD last night was a pure joy, she is doing so well and the only problem is her speach, but we are waiting on the speach therapist to sort that out (shes on their waiting list) so really pleased with her. However, DS was a different story, i really do not know what his teacher has been doing this year, but even though i have been giving them 100% support, things arnt changing, in fact they are getting worse!!! Im feeling absolutly dreadfull about it all, i think i might have to make an appointment to see the head teacher, because although he is only 9, if they let things carry on like they are, its going to ruin his whole attitude towards school, and it is really difficult when im praising his sister, but not able to do so with him, its not encouraging him to be good at all!!!!
So, after all that last night, today ive had to go for a blood test, got to the doctors, booked in and then had to sit for nearly an hour waiting!!! I booked the appointment because i didnt want to be waiting (i have 3 little ones today) but they forgot to put on the computer i was there, so they didnt call me until i went and complained, and now the vein has swelled up and is aching, so typical of my day really. I now have to wait for a phone call from the hospital to see if i need any transfusions next week, but i bet they dont call this afternoon, it will be Monday, so i will spend all weekend worrying!!! Never mind, back home now with a large mug of decaf and ive had some chocolate!!!!!(was going to give up for lent, but never mind, still havnt had any crisps)
Hopefully my day will now get better, will put Dora the Explorer on for the little ones so i can nip upstairs and clean the bathroom, then after lunch they will all have a sleep, and i will have a rest!!!!

    Racy Red = HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Kiwi chick = Sorry about the test, but at least you have your new home to look forward too, not much longer now, and hopefully the time with the in laws will be fine too!!!!
Moggins = Hope you and your son are ok today, and things are being sorted out.
Mossy = I used to have a problem slug, followed the trail and put salt at the end of it, he didnt come back!!!!!
WOAS = So glad the council realised they made a mistake, well worth making those phone calls yesterday!!!!

Hugs to anyone who needs one (and anyone ive left out)
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Catowen Sounds like the kind of morning that required a medicinal dose of chocolate, sorry to hear it has been so tough.
I am just wondering if it is worth you ringing the hospital later today. we often find that DH results are in but they just have not got around to phoning us. It is very hard to do all that waiting.

    Night Night everyone,

I'm just off to bed. Not that I need any beauty sleep mind. :D No it's cos we are going to Brissy tomorrow morning & need to be at 5am. Been very busy this week with family at my place & work. Hope you've all had a great week. I had some great news earlier this week, our UK Ancestry Visa is being processed. :jSo that's one hurdle overcome.

Kiwi - hope the move went well and enjoy yourselves at SIL;) Next driving test you'll just have to wear something more fetching. What about your sheepskin jacket? 4_1_72.gifJust teasing. Third time lucky hey.

Have a great weekend & Happy Birthday Racy. Catch ya later.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Johanne.... Well done. :D :j

I would think of the train as a positive thing. If your were in a car you would be in traffic and get nothing done.

Trains have tables, electric and internet sockets. I would use the time to eat breakfast, have a coffee, write my letters, make lists, catch up on text message replys, read a book, fill in forms, etc. you will not want to get off!!!!

Congratulations johanne! Is the money ok in your new job - i.e. an amount you can live on AND make a dent in your debt?

Re: the train journey - why not do a dry run over the weekend to get yourself used to the journey? Then you won't be panicking on Monday morning when you're already nervous about the new job. Also, if possible, buy your travel tickets in advance over the weekend. You may well be able to get a weekly ticket which should work out cheaper - probably one for the train and another for the bus.

Then set off as early as humanly possible on Monday, to be on the safe side. After all, even if you've already tested the journey out, the traffic's likely to be worse on a weekday morning. After a couple of days you'll be used to it.

Edited to say: and don't forget that if you're working Monday to Friday and you buy your weekly bus/train tickets tomorrow, the tickets will take you through to the end of the working week and you won't have spent any extra money on tickets if you test out the journey tomorrow :D

    Best of luck, Rzl xx
