Morning everyone!
It's a right chilly morning here - we've got a thick blanket of snow covering everything. It's very pretty until you have to either walk or drive in it. I am dreading the journey to work.
Pancake day went well for me, made my first ever batch and really enjoyed them.
Today I will be staying put at work, I am not coming home at lunch time due to the weather. It's also a college day so I will go to the library between work and class this evening. Unfortunately this means I will be out of the house from 8.30 am until around 10.00 pm - which is a very long day. Unless the snow melts then I'll nip home after work.
I am not really the religious type, but I thought it's as good a time as any to give up swearing. For some reason my language has got really bad since I came back to N.Ireland. It's an unpleasant habit with no redeeming features at all so it's gotta go.
KiwiChick...I totally sympathsize with your move date being brought forward so much. You're definitely doing the right thing getting the movers to pack everything for you. They don't hang about wondering about things. When you get to the other end have a roll of bin bags handy to fill with things you wish you'd chucked, don't give unwanted things house room.
PP hope you're alright today dearie. And everyone else, I know there was quite a bit of proper woman flu about yesterday, so lots of real suffering. Keep warm and spoil yourselves ladies, you are worth it.
My sleep has been v.patchy tonight, worrying about the journey to work ho hum. Think I'll see if I can get another hour or so's kip as tonight is a long way off.
Have a fabulous day everyone.

No snow here, but very chilly this morning. Couldn't sleep and have been awake since 3.30. Been pottering around the house doing ironing etc. I suspect I'll fall asleep in front of the TV tonight :rotfl:

Spendless - you made me chuckle this morning - my OH borders between being like your OH and SOMO1 OH - he actually edges more to the good side luckily.
KC - well done on sorting out the removal problem - 10 days and counting now
Harmony and peace has now returned to the Smokey household - we had a couple of drinks and dinner out last night - talked a lot of things over - we have been under a lot of pressure the last year - hopefully now things are okay - we both need to talk more and not bottle things up.
havent decided what to do for Lent as yet - like you Snowy I sometimes let rip swearing wise and I know it is not right - so that is on the list. crisps is another one (these are my diet weakness) and probably drinking through the week (sometimes sneak a little bottle on wine during week)
Had done a budget plann/meal plan for the next 12 weeks - will have to re-jig that once I look at finances (spent money last night that wasnt in budget)

Still a white out here, spent day sledging yesterday and have a feeling today is going to be more of the same. Just waiting to hear if schools are closed or not.
DW, WM, TD all still to go on, floors hoovered and washed just before bed last night so that saves a job for today.

Morning everyone :hello:
It is freezing here, brrrr...... No snow yet, but we had a mini blizzard yesterday evening which was fun!
I bought 1kg of chicken crown from iceland yesterday for a fiver, I cooked it last night and carved it all up - so today I've got chicken and stuffing rolls  for lunch. DH has got chicken and pasta and sweetcorn and DD has got plain old chicken rolls for lunch - and it's going to taste soo much better than that mainly water wafer thin c**p!!!! And there's a load in the freezer for later in the week!!!
WM is on, meatballs are made and chucked in the slow cooker with some tomatoes and red wine for tea tonight - I'll just have to cook some spaghetti to go with it.
Well I suppose I better jump in the bath and make sure DD is getting dressed for school, DH has already left.
Have a good day everyone - keep warm!
JoSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Am trying to give up wine AND chocolate. Not sure this was wise. In previous years I've got as far as Laetare Sunday aka Mother's day when you're allowed a relaxation of Lent and that was my down fall. so I'd like to see if I can go the whole way this year through to Easter
My DH and DDs may be begging me to give up giving up long before then, of course!!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
OH asked me what I was going to give up for lent, I told him that I would give up tripe and kidneys and refrain from hoovering. Going to be tough but I'll do my best.
After a sleeping on it I decided to give up biscuits - now that really will be hard - Jaffa cakes are cakes aren't they, that has been decided hasn't it?
edit - forgot to say, I don't drink at all so nothing to give up there and my chocolate consumption is purely for medical reasons, did anyone else listen to the Dutch professor on Johnny Walkers prog saying how there is something in cocoa that reduced risks of heart attacks and strokes? - assuming that you don't have too much that is.0 -
Morning everyone.
I have been given the day off work today even though i feel well. I was sick yesturday and i need to stay away for 48 hours.
I will past more later when i have more time
Bye0 -
I've finally found the answer to something that's been bugging me for a while. Why,if lent is 40 days does Easter Sunday always fall 47 days after lent? Not something that bothers everyone I know!Well I've done a bit of googling and found out that you don't count the Sundays because they commemorate the resurrection.Glad I've sorted that one out
Anyway this lent we are going to think about people who have so little to eat that they don't have the luxury of being able to give up any food.I have a fantastic book called Hungry Planet. It is by some American journalists and shows families from around the world with the food they would eat in one week.It is a real eyeopener. The contrast between the haves and the have-nots is stark. The British family featured is definitely not OS!! and the American families seem to exist on convenience food whereas the family from Chad have almost nothing. It seems that the richer the country the more unhealthy the diet(apart from very poor countries).
A quiet day at home for me.Must bake some bread, get the potato, bacon and onion hotpot ready to start cooking at 4pm and make the boys' beds, and I'll probably be on here for most of the day0
