    Morning to all

Just a little snow here so nothing to get too excited about but some ice which is nasty stuff.

I am way behind all that is going on in people's lives here as we had a powercut for half of yesterday. Makes me realise how dependent on electricity we are. However, hugs to all those who need them or who feel poorly or have a difficult day ahead.

Trying to get a bit organised here with bill paying, correspondence and shopping lists. All things I procrastinate over so I will be trying to keep away from MSE if possible

Take care anyone who is going out today, don't want to be reading about lots of sprained ankles tomorrow.

Eeeek, the road through the development where I live is like an ice rink. I tried to get out, but slithered back down the hill. Somehow I managed to get my car back onto my drive without wrecking fences etc. I've decided to wait a wee while until it has melted and I'll try again. In the meantime I am amusing myself watching other people slip sliding all over the place. Some twit in a fancy Audi did a spin on his third attempt to get out, he waited five minutes, tried again...and he's now back on his drive!!!

Tonight's college class is abandoned (by me anyway). I am not driving up this hill after dark when it's freezing, it's far too scary.

Ivyleaf, I'm sorry to hear about your husband being forced to stop work. We all like to think we will be able to choose when to give up work, so it must be hard for him to accept that the choice is taken away from him. I hope he's got lots of interests and hobbies to fill the gap - he could take up old styling, that'd be fun...

For those of you who are going to refrain from wine and chocolate, please let me wish you the very best of luck. You are each and every one of you infinitely braver than me and I salute you...hee hee...

On a slightly more serious note, I think I'll get hold of a copy of Hungry Planet. I might even buy a few copies to give as presents to people who complain loudly about how they can't afford a bigger house, bigger car, faster computer blah blah blah. In case you haven't realised it makes me cross that people who have an already indulgent life are rarely satisfied for long. Some of us in the UK/Ireland have experienced utter hardship, but most - including me - have little idea about how lucky we really are. OK, gonna stop now and get off my soapbox.

I think I'll have a go at getting up the hill and down the other side now. Wish me luck!

    Bye!!

    Morning :hello:

Am still ill in bed. Until yesterday I'd never taken a day off sick since working in my current department, and though I rang my boss yesterday, I couldn't quite remember the protocol for phoning in on subsequent days, so I started by ringing our team administrator on her mobile. Turned out she was at home in bed with symptoms which sounded suspiciously like mine

Am giving up chocs for Lent but have decided against quitting drinking. Was v. annoyed that being unwell, I didn't fancy making pancakes yesterday, or scoffing a last-ditch bar of chocolate! I was hoping I'd get to church this evening too, but can't see that happening.

Headache's somewhat improved today so I hope I can get back to work tomorrow.

The weather's beautiful and I think I should get dressed and pop out to the shops. Not just for the fresh air but for morale, and for the fact that not having a single item of fresh fruit or veg in the house is not going to aid my recovery!

Hugs to everybody else who's ill or otherwise needs a bit of moral support.

    Rzl xx

Still tired from anniversary weekend away. Had busy catch up day yesterday.

Seriously dieting with one day off for Mother's Day and having a jar on St Patricks. February is like Christmas in our house with birthdays, anniversary and Valentines. Lost some weight in January.

For the first time very little to do. Had a very stressful 2 years with buying, selling our place and doing up the house, with a major op in between. Taking a well earned rest but will work out what to do next, re property etc, in a bit of a rut.
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:
I am no expert in property but have lived in many types of homes, in many locations and can only talk from experience.

    Good morning everyone,

I believe that Lent is 40 days because it is the festival celebrating the events leading up to Easter, which is when Jesus spent 40 days in the desert fasting, before returning and being crucified. Easter is the celebration of his crucifiction and resurrection. This is why Christians fast, or 'give something up' to replicate Jesus's sacrifice!!!! Me, im planning on giving up chocolate and crisps!!!!
So far today i have taken DS and DD to school, swept the kitchen floor, emptied the DW, and had the WM on, and its all now hung up on the airer!!! Im now having a break from playing lego with the two little ones here!!!! Do need to do the dusting (kind of forgot to do it yesterday  ) and clean the bathroom but i think thats it!!!

Pooky, we are also making egg box daffodils for mothers day this year!!!!
PP, Tootles, Elona, Scuzz and Bargain Rzl, hope you all start to feel better soon xxxxxx

Well, off to do the dusting (oh, and make some soup!!!) and then a bit more lego, me thinks!!!! Have a lovely day everyone, take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh, we actually had snow this morning!!!!!! :j Woke up to a very slight covering outside (the type where the children graze their fingers trying to make snowballs!!!!) but it looked very pretty, even though it has all gone now, never mind!!!!

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Photogenic I've been Money Tipped!
Morning all. Not read through the thread properly yet, will save that for lunch time. :grouphug: to all.

Just had a major panic on... I thought I'd lost the credit card while out shopping yesterday :o I just searched my bag, coat pockets, all the papers on the desk and couldn't find it...then I remembered that I wore another coat yesterday and sure enough it was in the inside pocket :o:o:o

Just trying to update Money as I do all my transfers to savings accounts, credit cards etc today and its taking what feels like forever to sort out. I have to keep stopping to try and think clearly so it looks like its going to be one of those days for me

Yesterday I spent over £100 and £45 of that was on the credit card :o BUT the credit card purchase was for two pairs of trainers (both marked down to £10 from £29.99 each), a tracksuit (£9.99 instead of £24.99), tracksuit bottoms (£6.49 instead of £12.99) and a decent pedometer (£9.00 instead of £15.99) so I actually bought £113.95 worth of stuff :D All for me to start my 10,000 steps a day and maybe even jogging  to try and get fit and loose some weight. I'll definetly be starting out with just walking though as I can end up breathless from just going up a shops flight of stairs :o

I also managed to get DD some new school pants (£3.99 each instead of £8.50 for the school ones!) and some new school socks (Ladybird ones like I had for school :p ) for £4.99. I bought other bits and pieces but all in all it was worth it :D

So there I am having a good day, DD is behaving herself and watching Cbeebies for a change while I got on with fixing the oven and making tea when OH rings to tell me he's just run over his watch :wall::doh::mad: I spent £23 on that watch 3 years ago in July and took out a 2 year warranty (the longest I could) so... I'm going to have to see if I can get it fixed BUT he's already ordered a new one from Argos so to get the otherone fixed will be a bonus. He's assuming that the watch fell off his wrist as he was getting in the car :silenced:

Right, WM has just finished so I'll put that out, and then I'm off to Asda to get some bits (mainly cordial and more fruit!) after I've done all my transfers.

This Lent thing thats going on, although I'm not religious, I've decided to give up buying things for meals :rotfl: I'm going to do my best to have a use it up month and not buy anything for the cupboard or freezer as I need the space - it's DD's birthday 5 weeks today and I'll need space for the HM food for her family party on one of the weekends, plus I'll need the money for taking her out for her birthday treat, Pizza for her birthday tea (all 3 of us have that treat - a Pizza take out @ £12 but with enough left for lunches the next day ;) ) Plus we have the cars MOT this month just to top everything off... shouldn't need anything though as it only had £400 worth of work done in September and I'll be doing a maintenance check of it this weekend with (OH's) my Haynes manual ;) You see he does the driving, but I do the maintenance as I'll need to know it all anyway for when I learn to drive, but he can was it this week! I did it last time!!!
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
