Johanne...just wanted to say congratulations and well done on getting the job. That is fantastic news!

I was going to suggest the dry run idea too, but Bargain Rzl beat me to it. When I was getting trains I found that the queue for tickets on a Monday morning was usually about 30-40 people deep. If you get your ticket in advance, on Saturday or Sunday, you'll save yourself lots and lots of time and avoid the stress of having right money, etc etc.

Don't worry too much about the journeys, you'll v.quickly get the hang of it. When you sit down make sure you've got a view out both sides of the carriage so that you can see the station names easily. And leg it to the door as soon as you arrive in the station you are getting off at as train drivers don't really do waiting (or do as I used to do and move to the door when pulling out of the station before the one you're getting off at, then you won't get stuck).

Am at work...have been semi-comatose today with fatigue, people keep asking if I am unwell, and I have done the sum total of blipper all. My car is in the garage atm having its radiator hose looked at. I'm scared of phoning up to find out the verdict...one of my college colleagues reckoned it was my head gaskit (expensive!) - I preferred the leak theory better cos that's cheap.

Edit: Just phoned...it's a leaky thermostat...costs £30. I can afford it!!! I can drive it home tonight!!

I haven't read the thread properly, just a very quick skim through. I hope everyone is well and happy. See ya all later!

hey... havent had a chance to post/read any threads for a few days.. but just thought id tell you all.... i got the job! :j

I start on monday at 9am but not at MY store in liverpool! I have to travel to Chester for the next 3 weeks.. then St helens for few weeks then Wigan for my training!!!

I have NEVER been on a train alone before.. and only travelled with someone on a train ONCE and they had to help me buy my ticket and get on the right platform and where to sit etc etc so should be fun this..... as at 20 years old i dont know how to get a train :o:o and i need to get a train everyday each way after travelling into lpool city centre on a bus (the easy bit)!! Added fun is ive never been to any of the towns i'll be working either.... so i'll be travelling in a way i dont know how to.. to a place i dont know .... to a job i know nothing about!!!! :rotfl:

Anyone wanna take bets on how quickly i end up bursting into tears and having an anxiety attack??? :o

Don't worry sis... you can do it...after all it's not like my first trip ALONE travelling is it? You're not exactly getting on a coach on your own to go to London to meet someone who you've never met in person before, then travel with him to Cumbria in his parents car a couple of days later only to get the train home alone a few days after that :p:rotfl: You can do it...anyway, I'm only a phonecall away if you need anything :grouphug:

Picking up keys today, found out will have no fridge for 2 weeks although thinking about getting one of those Bratz mini fridge thingys for milk, or just use milk powder :(

    Nicola

You could keep milk the genuinely "Old Style" way. Actually I remember some members of previous generations doing this in the house they had which had no electricity and no running water - water came from a well every day! Oh and their milk came from their cow so it wasn't pasteurised or sterlised.

Just fill your sink up with cold water from the tap and keep your bottle of milk in the water (decant into a screw top bottle). OK, it won't be ice cold, but it will be cold enough to keep the milk fresh for a day or two.

You could make a 'camping fridge' - as described, fill sink/bowl with cold water and put your milk in. Thoroughly dampen a tea towel, then drape over the top of the milk, with the ends in the water (like a sort of tent). The water evaporates from the tea towel, drawing it up from the bowl, keeping it all cool. Not ideal but better than nothing!

Just made a brown loaf in the BM and it has turned out perfect! Why o why do the white loaves never turn out like that?

Posted parcel to DD at uni and also filled in form for the parcel which was lost or at least never delivered!

Took library books back, made jelly and spicy pasta for DD - we are having shepherds pie which I made in the slow cooker yesterday.

    Happy birthday Racy red

Well done wishing on a star

Moggins - hope things get better

Where is penny pincher and curry queen?

DD is feeling better and spent nearly all day on the computer - but at least it takes her mind off the operation scar!

Good afternoon fellow OSers, I am posting late today as I have been to work! I am so glad that I managed to make it in today and I am feeling pretty good though I will be having a nap in a little while.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACY RED!!!!!! It seems that birthdays are in the air, its my nephews tomorrow and mine and my neices next week.

Kiwi I am sorry to hear about your test, they are stressful aren't they?? I feel bad saying this now but my OH had his third this morning and finally passed :j He has had two really tough ones before though and has been having lessons for nearly a year, he had 14 minor faults on his first test but only 4 today. I can't drive so I know how you feel, keep trying babe, you will do it I know you will ;) The only bad thing about him passing is the fact that now I have to start lessons (oh yeah and we have to start paying out a fourtune in insurance and petrol and stuff!!!)

We I have been teaching all day, it wasn't too bad but my poor legs are still finding it a bit hard to master all the stairs. I will rest up in a while then make a meal plan for next week. Off to tesco later I think, late enough for the reductions!

Were off to Camden tomorrow to get me a custom made courset to wear for my b day night out and a skirt as my pressie from my OH and mummy! I can't wait, then we are going to MIL's to pick up the car :T

I hope everyone has had a good day, have a nice evening :p

Hi all as you can tell decided not to go to the library put have stocked up on some more tabs so should feel human again shortly lol, I wont say I'll feel normal...I don't think I come under that catagory at the best of times lol tee hee hee.

I have had a productive afternoon along with my very shiny sink, DW has just finished and kitchen worktops look lovely. I have also made two birthday cards, 1 for my sister friends daughter who is 8 and my sister is taking munch to her party on Sunday so we will have a couple of hours peace after Church woo hoo and the other one is for my bessie mate fingers crossed her present will arrive on time. :)

I think I will organise my card marking stuff this evening at the moment it is in a box in munch's bedroom along with other crafty/painting stuff but I've got lots of spare small wicker type boxes so I'll put it all in there, very excited as I've found a really nice birthday card folder/book which I will have to buy soon so that I can get super organised and make a load of cards for specific people a couple of times a year and just put them in the folder ready.

Right I best get off need to go and pick up DH shortly and living room is looking a bit worse for wear so need to give it a quick tidy before I leave.

D - changed my mind, we are going to have a quick and easy use up whats in the fridge omelette (sp?)

Congratulations Johann on the new job. Well done! :j

Good luck with the trains. I used to really enjoy train travel myself, great once you get the hang of it, which I am sure you will.
