hey... havent had a chance to post/read any threads for a few days.. but just thought id tell you all.... i got the job! :j

I start on monday at 9am but not at MY store in liverpool! I have to travel to Chester for the next 3 weeks.. then St helens for few weeks then Wigan for my training!!!

I have NEVER been on a train alone before.. and only travelled with someone on a train ONCE and they had to help me buy my ticket and get on the right platform and where to sit etc etc so should be fun this..... as at 20 years old i dont know how to get a train :o:o and i need to get a train everyday each way after travelling into lpool city centre on a bus (the easy bit)!! Added fun is ive never been to any of the towns i'll be working either.... so i'll be travelling in a way i dont know how to.. to a place i dont know .... to a job i know nothing about!!!! :rotfl:

Anyone wanna take bets on how quickly i end up bursting into tears and having an anxiety attack??? :o

Hi, I never normally post on this thread as I'm hopeless at domesticity and would rather believe that the fairies will come and do all my cleaning for me, but I read it often for inspiration! But I had to reply to this post as it made me laugh so much!
It reminded me of an old housemate of mine who at the age of 20 had never got a train before. We had to role play the whole event with him, right from pretending to be the National Rail Enquiries when he phoned to check the train times, to how to buy a ticket and how to find the platform and how to open/close train doors in all their various guises, ie use the handle, open the window and use the outside handle or press the button. But we were so proud of him when he actually managed the 200 mile journey, it was like sending our son off to school for the first time!
So if he can manage it anyone can, and good luck with the new job!

rchddap1 - Oh no, what a nightmare I hope your new car gets sorted.

Catowen - Hugs what a morning!

Johanne - Well Done!! The travel and unknown cities sound like a big challenge but I'm sure within a week or two of doing it you'll wonder why you were so worried about it. :)

Well the snotty mossy household are all surviving spoke to DH who sounds rough as well. I have moved my job to tomorrow and am hoping that I'll be able to concetrate properly and that we will all be able to enjoy it a bit more. I've got some pork in the fridge that we can have for tea although I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. The blokes cauliflower cheese sounds nice is there a recipe for that on the board??? will have to go and have a look for it.

EDIT - I can't find the recipe for blokes cauliflower cheese, Nikki could you post it as its sound yummy!!!

Well I am now officially a flybaby :) and my kitchen sink is very shiny!! :D I've just read what to do for today so far as I am going to take it a step at a time...baby steps ;) I think I will be pleasantly suprised when I read some of the things to do as I will have already got on top of them as I am so much better now that I'm OS than I was 3 weeks ago. I think with the help of OS and now flylady I might be able to keep on top of everything...in time of course!

Right I best get off I've got a couple of things I need to search for so I will do that via my clicks...might as well search for something useful. ;) and then I've got a couple of sheets I want to print out from organized home to give to my bessie mate, I've brought her the dinner lady cookbook and I'm going to print out the recipes to try sheet and the meal planner (they meal plan for a month in advance already but I thought looking at a different planner might give her some new ideas). Need to get a bath then do crafty things this arvo. I need to pick DH up from work so if we are feeling up to it will leave a little bit earlier and go to the library....not sure yet though.

Have a lovely rest of the day everyone!!! :D

  • Picking up keys today, found out will have no fridge for 2 weeks although thinking about getting one of those Bratz mini fridge thingys for milk, or just use milk powder :(

Sick of doing all the work, OH had practically nothing to do bar get hold of deposit, but I guess that's the price you have to pay for not being able to work for 3 months. Once I graduate I'm working straight away - being a kept woman SUCKS. I hate having to ask for money, I hate having to do every bit of non-work related chores and I hate being unable to contribute financially.

Sorry for the rant - bad morning! :)

    congratulations Johanne.

I used to be like you and have a bit of a fear of using trains. I think Bargainrzl's idea was fantastic, as it will be extra stress you do not need come Monday morning. The key is, arrive early enough before the train to check on the departure board what platform you are on, and then go do it. The train will usually have a sign on the front like a bus, saying where it is going, and if you feel unsure, ask someone for help.

Also, i try to get on one of the driving sites like routefinder, and then i can have a mini map of the place i am going to. Otherwise, i am absolutely petrified of getting lost. I promise i haven't been lost once, so it is a tried and tested method.

The midwife has rang me, and she is coming round for my home visit on sunday. Seems a bit of an odd day to me, but there you go. Cue frantic house tidying. I rang DH and he was a bit upset that he isn't going to be there to show his support. I think he is quite excited. He's going to pull a long shift in so that can also go in the baby fund. I hope he doesn't work every weekend though as i really miss him when he does.

I've got to pick the kittens up soon. I hope they aren't feeling too groggy. I bet they won't be jumping on the sides or climbing the curtains tonight though ;)
