Tim I have said it before - advice is brilliant to get.
But without the brands that someone is recommending, it is impossible to take it.
I could be a salesman in coffee, and then tell you that there are better coffee's than Nescafe. If a coffee fanatic asks me what it is, and I wouldn't tell them, they'd be furious.
So while I appreciate your possible "predicament", as someone trying to get advice, it's extremely frustrating to hear there is "better", without know WHAT is better.
I've said all this before though. So I am just wasting my breath I think.
Well if you don't like MSE then go away and stop arguing.
It has nothing to do with coffe salesmen, it's quite simple..........if you want advice on mattresses then go to a general mattress thread where there are loads of recommendations.
You have 40 odd posts on MSE, and they have all been in this thread, but you have said that you won't be buying a STL mattress, so what's the point in still posting in this thread?????????0 -

They are asked why something is "black" and they come back talking about something else, or bypassing the question.
That advice as I have said countless times, is good but fairly empty if a "better" mattress brand is not named. I don't want to dart about from one thread to another when this is the *conversation*. If you are telling me that you have named these brands in other threads, tell me so.
This I agree has gone on too long, and at the end of it, people I think have found that STL is very comfortable, but possibly over priced. Yet they have not found or been advice by those in the trade, what are BETTER.0 -
If a coffee salesman came into any forum site and started saying that their coffee was better than any other, and started advertising it then they would be kicked off the site.
If a consumer who had bought some coffee and liked it so much that they wanted to recommend it to others then they could do, because they wouldn't be doing it for financial gain.0 -
This started as a thread about STL. You then said there are better mattresses without naming them, for whatever "ruled" reason. Much of which has sounded like a politician talking.

I haven't named manufacturers (because I'm not allowed to), but others have (because they are allowed to).
Just go and have a look and stop being a TROLL0 -

However, I do not know (and not sure anyone else does) if you have a shop, and if you do, where it is. So not quite sure how that backs up your point. You are not selling something here.
If I said I am a coffee expert, how would MSE know that I personally work for a particular coffee company? (I don't - but just giving you the scenario)0 -

Please tell me if MSE does.
Because if the answer is, they don't, then I fail to see your point here.0 -
I don't see why a thread about a particular brand should stop that, when the thread has gone that way.
However, I know from the rules I have been directed to, that no thread on MSE will recommend a brand anyway.
This thread, and others 'bed threads' on here about beds are about what to look out for. Not, what brand to buy and not to buy.
It's common sense. The thread is called "Sleep to Live Beds", so only people with an interest in STL would come to the thread. So you aren't going to get loads of recommendations for other brands as you would on a general bed or mattress thread.........It's so simple, why can't you understand that???
Brands can be recommended, but not for personal gain.0 -

If I was to then go to another forum and ask, maybe you would be there, maybe you wouldn't. But doesn't matter, you still wouldn't reveal what that brand would be for reasons you have given here.0 -
I do understand this. But you personally said there are far better beds. And, I as someone looking, then asked about that quote you said - and then reached that brick wall.

Finally we are getting there.0 -
