The problem with BMP's going bust is with any issue you may have with your handset.
You would then have to pay for your own repair.

Just to reassure people - I have used them very successfully for the last nearly 18 months on 2 contracts for my teenagers. They have paid out the line rental cashback every time - but I have followed the rules exactly & have had to be very organised! When I've dealt with them on the phone (ringing me back after an e-mail query) they were extremely helpful. Of course there is always the risk they'll go bust, but that's the chance you take for a mega-cheap contract (16/17 months free on an 18 month contract). I'll be using them again for the next contract.0

Is this correct? I thought the liability was with the phone company? We had a problem with a phone on a contract through BMP & took it into the local Tmobile shop & they arranged to send it off for repair.0 -
Yes, this was correct. It is the retailer, i.e. BMP, who supplies the handset, not the network.I'm having a problem with my Mobile Phone. What do I do?
Below are contact details for all the major Mobile Phone Manufacturers.
Their Customer Service departments will be able to provide product specific technical help and warranty information. They should be your first port of call for any such inquiries, as being the manufacturer they have access to a large amount of technical and support information for all products.
After having spoken to your mobile phone's manuafacturer you are still experiencing problems with any product supplied by us, our Technical Support team will be happy to assist you in solving the problem or organising a replacement or repair.0 -

To a degree although your legal comeback is against the retailer, most retailers will replace the phone within one month of purchase, and after that point they repair under the manufacturer's warranty
ie Phones 4 U

Which means that even if BMP were to go bust you could get the phone repaired elsewhere under the manufacturer's warranty during the warranty period.0 -
Yes, my point was that it is the retailer, not the network.
Re manufacturer's warranty, it is worth saying that it is not a contract and is not legally enforceable. It's not that I know any cases of somebody experiencing any problems because of this.0 -

Sending it back to the supplier/retailer should be the first option.
If for example I bought a Zanussi freezer from Comet and it broke after 9 months, I would take it back to Comet for repair/replacement, not send it back to Zanussi.
Sending it back to the manufacturer (Samsung, Nokia etc.) if BMP's went bust may cost more than what it's worth.
Why T-Mobile sent off a phone for repair when it wasn't supplied by them baffles me??
svtg3, I would buy via a CPW company and you can then take a faulty phone into one of their High Street repair centres and get it fixed/replaced under warranty. The price should be the same, as it will be the tariff cost.
