  • I have been trying to get a HTC Hero (G2 Touch) from buymobilephones.net but have been rejected by T-Mobile twice. I'm starting to wonder if their really good deals (£20/month, 18 months, phone £25 after cash-back via Quidco) are just a scam to get you interested.

My credit rating should be good. I have been at my address for 20+ years, bank account open for 5+ years, credit card not due to expire for 2 more years etc. I had no trouble opening an A&L account last year and have never been rejected for anything else. I don't even have any outstanding debts.

I bet if I went to T-Mobile direct and paid £10 more a month they would be more than happy to sign me up. The deal on buymobilephones.net seems too good to be true, which is why I'm starting to think that it is... :(

I have a very similar issue. T-Mobile ARE happy to give me several more contracts and have absolutely NO record of this dealer having done a credit check with them (as they claim). T-Mobiles also have a dealership enquiry number which bmp could easily call to get the authorisation for a contract; they have ignored that totally and appear to be lying about ever putting the order through. I would bet the network would give you the contract direct - though no on the same offer. I therefore think your suspicions are totally vindicated and this dealer is not to be trusted (like a few others!).
  • I'll call them tomorrow and try to wrangle a better deal on the phone. If I could get the cost of the phone down from £170 then it would still be a pretty good deal - £18.50/month with 100 mins 100 texts and unlimited data for 18 months.

    Hi all

I recently ordered a new phone (orange upgrade) through buymobilephones.net. They promised next day delivery, however got an email the following day stating there would be a 24 hour delay. This was thursday last week. I tried ringing customer services, but was placed 24th in a queue (I assume this is how they make money!) and also tried emailing, which I have done twice without reply. I have heard nothing since.

Has anyone got any advice on what I can do / or had a similar experience?

    Many thanks

  • I got a HTC Hero on T-Mobile with £25 cash-back via Quidco. It all went though without any issue at all.

Buymobilephones.net were blatantly lying about failed credit checks. I looked at my credit report and it's clean. They said T-Mobile refused after the check but I used the same bank account and credit card for the same phone on the same sort of deal with the same cashback direct with T-Mobile and they accepted right away.

I think basically their scam is to offer ridiculous prices and just make offers to the carrier (in this case T-Mobile) which tend to be refused. It's a classic bait-and-switch ploy - try to appear really cheap but actually only really offer more expensive contracts where you can slap on a high margin.

payvpac: Forget them. Make sure they have not charged your card, send them a cancellation (as is your statutory right under distance selling regs.) and get yourself a deal elsewhere.
  • how many deals can u have with bmp or t.mob at any time.

Hi, I think it depends on the offer. BMP terms and conditions says you can only have 2x 12 free line rental deals at one time. In the past I have had up to 4 t-mobile contracts at the same time. I think that once you have proved you are a good payer they will trust you so you may have to have had a contract running with them for severals payments before they will consider more contracts.
  • Hi,

Im looking at some of the deals on buymobilephones.net as they seem the only one with good cashback deals at the moment. Reading this thread, people have mixed reviews about the company especially recently. Has anyone got any good experiences with them recently? The cashback deals look good and the t&c's look ok and quite simple to follow after some of the ones I have done in the past!

    Many thanks
  • will the 12 month free deals end on 31st with tmobile. what will be offered will it be 24 month free deals any1 know.
  • Ok, I signed up for this, to get a Wii. I got my phone the next day, all fine. I've called them a few times now since last Friday when they got my ID and OK'd the claim, and I was told they were out of stock. Some chap I talked told me he'd email me when he knew when they might arrive (he never bothered which greatly surprised me, not), and another chap I talked to told me they wouldn't be in stock until early next week (I'm quite persistent about getting the correct info after reading through this thread). I've just received an email saying that it's now been dispatched for next day delivery, so I should have it tomorrow, and then my £35 cash-back in 40 days time. I've no reason to doubt that it's been sent, so I'll let you know :)
