It's completely irrelevant whether you buy direct or through a dealer. Nowadays the networks increase their charges within limits during contracts and the dealer is blameless and powerless to do anything about it - as are you.
Of much more relevance is whether the deal involves cashback by redemption; provided you know what you're doing (and most don't even though they think they do) contracts end up a lot cheaper in general through a dealer and increases in network charges are relatively insignificant for several reasons.0 -
thanks guys that insight was very helpful.
ok so the dealer themselves would not be able to put the price of the deal up, this is just passed on from the networks.
so as long as i stay away from additional costs like the added insurance then it should remain cheaper to go through buymobilephones. would prefer to go direct through a network if im honest but the deal is significantly better and there is no cash redemptions as far as i can see0 -
Been a while since this thread was updated!
Buymobilephones.net are now BuyMobiles.net
I was just running into some trouble ordering from them - As soon as I get to the complete order stage to fill in my payment details, I'm met with a 404 error, anyone else having this problem?0 -
I ordered yesterday for someone; no problems in that respect.0
-
I managed to get through and order 2 days ago, with them asking to send them scans for proofs of ID, which I did. Then the next day I got an e-mail saying that my order was declined due to a "caution on my address"?
First I've ever heard of it, and me or my family have never had any issues buying phones or anything else etc.0 -

Very true and if you disagree with this sort of thing happening then you may wish to sign up to the Which? Fixed means fixed campaign http://www.which.co.uk/campaigns/mobile-phone-price-rises/0 -
Hi all, this is just a warning for those of you considering cashback by redemption deals from Buymobilephones.net, now buymobiles.net.
Not considering that they make it as hard as possible for their customers to claim (I.e vouchers that you have to send together with all of your bills for the claim period, you are not allowed to change your bank account, etc) they also find various ways to delay payment as much as possible.
When I took a contract with them, the terms and conditions stated that they will pay any cashback claims in approx. 40 days.
My last cashback claim was accepted beginning of March and I got an email saying money will be paid within 56 days.
I got in touch with them after 56 days and they said the payment was scheduled for a week later. When I complained they said they had now processed the payment. 5 days later I was told, my payment would be processed next week.
It is now another week from the last payment date I was given and they are telling me they have 'system problems' and don't know when my payment will be processed. I am sure their ORDERS systems work fine though...
What are my options except for waiting? I have already sent an email to them last week stating that they are not respecting their contract and I will be seeking compensation. No response to that.
Any thoughts?
PS. On a different note my other cashback contract is with a competitorand they accept email claims, they only need the last bill and pay within 3 days...0 -

I am very aware of this. I know of several late payments for other people and have been having the same problem. Needless to say I've not wasted time in taking the appropriate action (the same advised by Grumbler above). They did this about 18 months ago, but this time round they are making endless excuses and taking longer and longer to pay. Not a good sign, but meanwhile I will ensure they pay me together with the appropriate costs which they require to be added in order to do so.
I would add a further warning; Affordable Mobiles and Phones.co are also the same group - A1 Comms.
The only surprise is that no-one's put this on this thread until now (I had reasons not to).
I've had to issue a LBA to another dealer quite recently; the difference is that they responded immediately and this lot only made a basic stab of a response.0
