So my contract apparently expires on 14/06/2013. This is an 18months £25/month - 14 months free by redemption with T-mobile.
However because I had another contract with them, my bill date was the 30th of the month. My 18th bill was issued on the 30th.

I was supposed to send the last 3 bills to Buymobilephones.net after the 30/5.

I have asked T-mobile for my PAC code on 8/5, and because the request was make before 30 days of my contract expiry date I was charged an Early Termination Fee starts on the day of the request up to the end of my contract (14/6) which appears on the last bill and of which I have not been advised during the call. This is also not correct as there is a 30 days notice that I have to give, so they can't charge me for the 30 days, unless I use the PAC code straight away which I didn't do.

I have called my new network and asked for the number transfer to be made on 01/06 which is after the bill date, but obviously within my minimum contract agreement.

    I have three questions:
    1. Will Buymobilephones.net approve my cashback claim considering I have 'finished' my contract 13 days early?
    2. Can Buymobilephones.net ask me to pay back the cash-back money they have already paid me for finishing my contract 13 days early - days for which I have paid anyway.
    3. Is it worth trying to get some kind of a good will gesture from T-mobile, considering they have not advised me that I would be charged an early termination fee and that I was still within my contract date, which made me loose at least £80 in cashback?

    Thanks.

    1) Doubtfull.

    2) Highly unlikely.

    3) Good luck with that!!!
  • Hi I am new to all this so please bare with me.
I recently placed an order with buymobilephones.net and am a little worried. I canceled the order before it was even sent out but they still proceeded to send it out and the contract was set up.

Here is a copy of an email I sent them

    Hi
On the 31/5/13 at approx 16:00 I placed an order with yourselves for a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. However the following day I changed my mind for various reasons and decided not to proceed with taking out the contract or phone. I rang yourselves up at approximately 10:30 on the 1/6/13 to cancel my order. I was told this wouldn't be a problem and that it would be sorted for me, I then asked if there was anything else I needed to do and I was told no.
However on the 03/06/13 I had a delivery from parcel force from yourselves, which I rejected stating that this order was as far as I was concerned cancelled. I then proceeded to ring yourselves to see what was going on. I was then told there was a mix up and the order was sent, however I was then told the order would be cancelled and again I wouldn't have to do anything else.
Today I received a letter from three saying 'thank you for choosing them' etc and a direct debit has been set up in my account.
What I would like to know is if you have gone ahead and cancelled this order like I originally requested or am I going to get letters of demand for money off 3?
I would prefer the correspondence to be in email format as I am working nights this week.
Thank you for your time in this matter.

That outlines what happened and the timeline. Any advice or experiences similar to this would be extremely appreciated.

    Thankyou.

Stop emailing and WRITE to them, asking them to make sure the contract is cancelled. Make sure you include dates etc and send the letter via Recorded delivery.
  • Thankyou for taking the time to reply. That was going to be my next step. I usually hate things like this, like I wont even return an item of clothing if it doesn't fit I am that shy but this has really annoyed me.

In this modern electronic age, I don't see there is much difference, except that it may be easier to prove you sent an email rather than something was posted and/or delivered by post.

If I was in your position, I'd cancel the DD with the bank and contact three (by email if possible, cc'ing in BMP.net) and tell them what has happened.

    Just to add my comments on Buymobilephones.net, both my wife and myself have had phones through them and have had no problems at all. My wife had an 18 month contract which has just ended and all cashback was paid and I started a contract with them in November '12 and my first cashback has come through. Just to clarify a few points;

    1) The first months insurance is free but you can cancel it. You can deselect it from the options if you choose otherwise it is automatically added. I deselected it on my phone because I couldn't be bothered ringing to cancel although my wife cancelled hers without a problem after the first month over the phone.

    2) The vouchers are printed on A4 paper and can be photocopied for safe keeping. Also, they have a unique code on each voucher so I don't think you could share them or help others out or risk losing your own cashback.

    3) I always fully printed my bills, stapled the claims voucher to page 1 and sent them recorded delivery.

Just my own experience but I find their terms reasonable (i.e. 60 days to claim cashback from first possible date to claim) and any queries we have had have been answered quickly and without issue. I would certainly use them again and recommend them but you have to be disciplined and set reminders for when the cashback window opens and which bills to send.

It wasn't always so. Before dealers were forced to allow 60 days they only allowed 14 and didn't tell people until after they ordered - which is why I didn't use them at that time. They also allow themselves an obscene timescale to pay - yet at least two or three times within the last 15 months or so have still been late paying (when they received a LBA from me and anyone else with any sense).

I continue to use them selectively, but they remain a higher risk than CPW simply because they are much smaller, have inferior t&c for claiming and don't allow on-line claims. I have never taken any of the people I watch over to them, but would consider it provided the people concerned accepted an increased risk.

I haven't sent a claim (or LBA for that matter) by recorded delivery in years; but then I watch over things like a hawk and always have a back-up plan. In any case, there aren't many dealers to make a profit from any more (but that could change).
  • Hello,

I too have been sucked in by cheaper deals from buymobilephones and am just wondering how comes they are cheaper and where the hidden costs are? When going to renew on my network 3 I am basically told that they will not negotiate on their advertised upgrades and that these 3 party sites that run cheaper deals on 3's network are scams that increases the price of the deal once you have signed up for it and write this into their contracts. here is what they mention in their contracts...

3.2. However we cannot guarantee the accuracy of information supplied, especially such things as product specifications, network tariffs, call charges and special offers and promotions which may change without prior notice, before or after you have placed your order with us.

3.3. Products, prices, offers, tariffs and promotions are valid only for the period they are displayed on our website (unless otherwise stated) - all of which are subject to availability. If any of these should change to your detriment or become unavailable in the period after you have placed an order with us we will contact you before proceeding with the order.

I am just wondering if anyone has had any issues with being misled by this company or are their rates true.

the deal I am looking at is a galaxy s4 on the 1 deal with unlimited data 2000 mins and 5000 texts which works out at 33pounds per month when you take into account the upfront price of the phone.

3 are offering 1000 mins with 5000 text and utd data for 35 pounds a month with no upfront cost which is ideally more than I want to pay.

IS A COMPANY ALLOWED TO ALTER YOUR CONTRACT AFTER YOU HAVE AGREED TO IT???

is it going to mean extra grief going thru a 3rd party company like buymobilephones??

    please help

'Scam' seems rather libellous to me.

For 3.2, no matter who you bought your phone through, T-mobile (and Vodafone I believe) would have increased your line rental recently. Your line rental contract is with the mobile network, BMP.net aren't the ones increasing it.

3.3 seems standard for most companies, whatever they sell. Here they are saying if the contract price goes up before it is set up, you will have the right to cancel.

I don't see why BMP.net would be any different from any of the other companies selling phones, including phones4u.
