Whilst this is a money saving forum, it's utter madness to encourage people to move to Tiscali for the sake of saving £2 a month. A company with the most dire support and communication. Get a problem with them and you'll lose money.

    Their service is slow anyway.

If you are with them (or Pipex or Bulldog), I'd grab your MAC code now. Avoid Orange as well.

This seems wide spread I am in NW Scotland and could not get online for a lot of the time over the weekend. It took lots of attempts to get online today. I don't know what is going on but it is not looking good.
  • I have not been able to access tiscali broadband since 05/04 and still cannot.
Surely outages in London area do not affect Maybole,Ayrshire.
    Technical support u/s.
    Anybody any ideas?

I posted this on the Tiscali Forums this morning:

"Since last Friday (3 April), have been losing Broadband connection about 7.30pm each evening and unable to re-connect until next morning. I can then be online all day, as usual.

Or is it a coincidence that the schools broke up last weekend for Easter ?

Have used Tiscali here for last 15 months with no major problems. I live in Mid-Wales, near Newtown - is there a known issue here? as it's becoming rather a nuisance."

And there are many other similar posts on the Tiscali Broadband Forum. frown.gif

Maybe looking for another ISP myself before too long - and all the hassle that involves ....................

The speed dropping at 4pm is due to the contention ratio, everyone gets that unless they're on a cable service.

Simply not true, my speed never drops any time, day or night, but I don't use any of the cheapskate ISP's.

Does anybody know any other way to get on the internet if Tiscali goes down. I was just wondering so I could get things sorted whilst at the moment still got a connection or would I have to have another separate telephone line?

Just use any PAYG dial up account, no need to register for one of these.

Haven't got much time b4 I rush out the door, otherwise I would have got some info for you....

On the basis of what macman says, maybe its a good idea to have several PAYG dial-up companies on a print-out, regardless of who you are with.

Just a thought, but if you haven't got the interweb how are you going to get this information if it all goes horribly wrong

Tiscali themselves offer a PAYG dial up service, just Google it. It's probably faster than their broadband service...
Having said that, it's a bit unfair that Tiscali is getting all the flak for the major outage at the weekend. This was a fault in the BT network and affected many non-LLU users, myself included, not just Tiscali.
