My telepathic messaging service hasn't worked. 44 hours without a sale! Damn pro merchant!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Good news! I received a cheque today from the Royal Mail for the amount of compensation I asked for only a week ago. I have recovered both the book and postage cost. Yeah!:)I'm sorry but I'm not Mike!0

Sales have been slowing down for me but I have just sold a CD that has been pending twice before. Thank goodness - thought I was never going to get shot of it."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0

My understanding is I can cancel at any time, my subscription started yesterday and if i cancel today my merchant account would revert back to normal account when my months subscription expires. Will have a stroke if it doesn't work like that and I'm stuck with it for a year or something!
Sorry for nearly giving you a strokeand thanks for clearing it up in the post straight afterwards apprentice
I'm not sure why I thought otherwisebut as I've just had to stick my existing stuff on holiday settings, (OH's indisposed), I'm tempted to maybe open an account in his name and opt for the pro-merchant for a month.

becky004 your telepathic abilities are a bit off target..they appear to be working for me instead of you. I've just sold my third book in two days, for me that's amazing. :j

becky004 wrote:I check my prices daily and reduce those that are not the lowest price so that they are the lowest price in relation to their condition. I have found my sales have increased by lots since doing that , I never used to check them when I started.
I check mine every few days but I don't undercut the lowest price, I match it.
When the rival seller looks down his list of open listings he'll still see that he still has the low price banner and unless he looks closer to see where I am he won't be tempted to start an undercutting spiral.0 -

Same here sometimes apprentice. But sometimes I've checked and been able to put the price up0 -

Brilliant idea, I'm going to check my listings today and do the same.

With this price matching strategy as opposed to undercutting you have to make sure that your book sounds better than other lowest priced book. If you can offer a quick turnaround or sell it internationally and be a bit chatty putting some personality into the wording I think it helps, the descriptions that the proper book sellers put in can be so dry and dull with all the measurements etc.0

I recently sold a book about Marianne Faithfull and described it as "This book has got history, just like Marianne herself and very interesting it is too."
Another one about the ocean I recently described as follows "This book is tatty, well read and obviously has some history - pristine it aint! However, if it is the content you are after then that remains and is perfectly readable." I never thought this book would sell.
Some of the books I buy that turn out to be not worth very much, then I aim to at least get my money back on them plus a small profit eg. 50p - mostly I at least double or triple. However unlike some sellers on here I never seem to sell my really expensive books! The most I have made on a book is about £13.00 but I am not complaining (really)!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
