Now I've just got to persuade my three year old that queuing up in the Post Office is a fun activity!

LOL - my one's scared of the woman in the post office. Goodness knows why as she's really nice and friendly. Really embarrassing as the woman says hello to her and she hides under my coat  or else we get lots of very loud whispers in the queue about how she doesn't want to go to the lady and can we go to the man instead :o

I still can't get my book to list, grrrr. Has anyone managed to list anything this morning?

purplepatch I'm listing on Amazon at the same time as catching up on here, Amazon is fine for me.

A tip for anyone with books to sell: Bumped into a chap today hunting down books on swords and fencing, he said the library has discarded their stock and they can't find out which library they have been sent to for sale, there are no books currently listed on Amazon. If anyone does have any books like this, get them listed as I persuaded him to give Amazon another go this afternoon.

I just got a question from someone on Amazon via the Amazon system, worried me when I first saw the Amazon mail headed 'question from member', I thought I 'd done something wrong!

It was a question about a book I listed a couple of hours ago, fingers crossed I get a sale...

    Soo

EDIT. The man sounds really nice,, he has just emailed me back thanking me for such a fast response to his question..I wonder if that means he is going to buy it?

Further EDIT; Woo Hoo he bought it, my fastest ever sale it's only been listed about 4 hours. What a nice man, wonder if I have time to get to the post office tonight?

  • Well done, what a result. No clogging up the shelf this time. The quickest I have had a sale is 6 hours.

For the great help in these threads . Decided to try to sell some books on amazon and put 2 up on wednesday. Sold my first today!!!! #

    Just a few questions though.

On the despatch note I printed out it has my proper email address(ie:not a web one) - and I am worried about giving that out as it one I have had for years and own the domain on, I would not like to get hassled for no reason etc if I can avoid it. What do you guys do with your details on the despatch note?

Also where is the cheapest place for jiffy bags etc?

  • I wouldn't worry about the email address myself, but that's me. If you live near a Poundland they are good for jiffy bags, if not, then there is eBay for Mail Lites (lighter than Jiffys) or if you are going to be selling 100s there is Viking.

I had a book listed on RISI all week that came out of my boxes of freebies, flicked through it, old book inscribed didn't bother to check it on amazon as it was 1925 copy and had inscription. Decided to have a closer look last night for some reason, was a first edition with a lovely greeting (not personalised) by the author!! Worth £25 not loads but where were all your eagle eyes! Needless to say it is no longer on RISI but taking pride of place on my Amazon bookshelf. Will be checking all my books more carefully in future, no matter how old and decrepid I think they are. Infact I have even pulled some out of the box for the bin and there was another load of books in there that were of value, no good for amazon but am going to invest in a digital camera and try my luck on ebay in the very near future.
On a down side am biting my nails to the bone now I've taken out pro-merchant! Usually have at least 1 sale by time I get home from work and another 1 or 2 usually go by bedtime, 2 late sales last night, none today so far,I hope I don't regret doing it!
