  • I've no idea how much a battery charger takes to run, overnight, on presumably trickle charge. But two seems a peculiar number.

Are these batteries being left on charge all the time and nobody's told you?

No ,they were put on yesterday, there are 2 batteries on our van.
Made sure they are off now though.
Have used another 7 kwh since 11am, cooked roast dinner,( oven 1 hour, hob 15 mins, pressure cooker 10 mins, JML halogen cooker 2 hours, boiled kettle once. May be cheaper to go out and eat lol

Owl monitor seems to show 30" less than meter as much as it is possible to tell.

What do you mean by this?

It does sound like your meter could be faulty!

I meant 30% less ie 3 x 60 watt bulbs switched on and the monitor shows
    120 increase instead of 180

OK well these Owl devices are not very accurate but I would expect it to be better than that! Did you set the voltage to suit your local voltage? see here for details. The Owl specification does not state an accuracy figure for below 1A (230W) but for 1A to 3A (690W) it states up to 10%.

Therefore you should be able to compare your meter with the Owl and for loads between 230W and 690W it should be within 10% of your supply company meter.

Dont understand voltage, I think it is set at 230v, should it be 240v?

I don't have an Owl, but my monitor is pretty accurate, about 5% over the meter.

Even if it was set 10V out, it should not be registering 30% difference to your supply meter.

Could you check your meter using say a 1kW heater e.g. on for one hour should use one unit, half an hour should use half a unit.

Not sure if I have explained properly, when I turn 3 x 60 watt bulbs on ,the owl monitor only goes up by 120w, should it have gone up by 180 w ?

That would only work if nothing else was switched on though and I think I have explained that may be a bit awkward, even more so tonight, its dark lol

    Hi Sue ?
Well ,apologies to the poster who kept mentioning the oxygen, in 10 hours it will have used 4.1 kwh which is a bit more than 1p an hour that the installer said it would be, obviously there is nothing I can do about that.
Shall I start a new thread " Can't get under 26 kwhs per day ? lol
