Can't get under 30 kwh electric per day.
As above, have been reading meter daily for 2 months and it varies from 26 kwh to 39 kwh and I know that some of you get down to about 10-12.
Have got an owl monitor and a plug in but can't work out why usage is so high. Owl monitor seems to show 30" less than meter as much as it is possible to tell.
We seem to use 5 kwh overnight from 11pm till 8am with nearly everything unplugged.
I just wrote out a list of appliances and usage , it took me ages,( slow typer)
pressed submit and lost it lol
If anyone has got any ideas I will be around most of tonight to answer any replies.
Am beginning to think there is an electrical fault, is that a possibility ?

Turn off at the wall EVERYTHING bar the fridge/ freezer overnight and check again. No landline phones or alarm clocks (use your mobile) or Sky box on at all. During the day turn everything off at the circuit breaker for an hour or so (fridge/ freezer will be fine if left shut) and see what the meter does. If you still have strange readings you need to get the supplier to check the meter: this will cost you only if they don't find a fault.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Electric heating, by any chance?0

Hi
Will do that tonight, can't really turn everything of in the day for an hour because of poorly MIL has to have central heating on ( electric pump ) also she needs oxygen but I will have a word and see if we can sort something.
Would 30 minutes be ok do you think.

No electric heating, we have oil.
Would be happy with that usage for heating as well.
Oil is costing a fortune but that is another story ( MIL )
No immersion or heaters.

Well, turn everything off and see what your meter does for half an hour. If it stops dead, well, that's one thing checked. If it moves, it obviously needs checking. Don't stop MIL from having oxygen! Can you use plug in monitor with that for 24 hours and work out how much it uses?0

It is supposed to use 1p an hour.
Dont thing she would be impressed if I checked it
She is very touchy and may think I didnt want her to have it lol
Have only had it in a month and our usage has been high as long as we have been here.

Well, read the meter when you go to bed and when you get up - you shouldn't have used many units in that time. Keep your mitts off the oxygen.0

Using 5kWh from 11pm to 8am is quite high.
Assuming you are not using electricity for heating, immersion heater(you are sure that this is turned off??) and various appliances then I suggest you have a problem.
30kWh a day(11,000kWh pa) is huge without using heating.
The most likely culprit is a faulty fridge/freezer(seal or thermostat gone)0 -
Hi Cardew
We have checked fridge and freezers with the plug in over a few days and they were about 1kwh a day each, I have been reading these threads for a few weeks so have tried most things.
Hubby says I am getting a bit obsessed, he is probably right lol

I think I'd be a bit obsessed if my meter was spinning round like yours. Does your Owl monitor tell you anything. For example, when you turn most things off (leave that oxygen alone) so that you have just the fridge, freezer, phone etc, what does it say? If you start turning things on one at a time, when does it jump up alarmingly? See what a fun game this could be?
Also, does the Owl monitor agree with your electricity meter, give or take a kwh?0
