Kittywaa - I think that the supply meter is reading about 42% high against the Owl.0

Just a quick update
After 24 hours
Owl 13.91 kwh
Meter 20.19 kwh
This is low for us as we were out most of the day
Can the owl really be this far out ? I calculate about 45%

I've a Owl meter and its fairly accurate
I tested mine by turning all the power off except a 100 watt bulb then left it on for 10 hours, then compared the two meters owl was about 2% out.
Then using a amp clamp and voltage meter measured the light consumption at various times 100 watt bulb does use 100 watt like it says, slight differance I think to voltage drop.
Also tested the bulb with a plug in meter from aldi that was ~ 3 % over but again close to what I expected.
Would suggest your meter out, contact the supplier they charge but you do get you dosh back if its proved to be incorrect, think they have 10 days to sort it out.0 -

Before you get your meter checked Bev, perhaps you should ask what they will charge you if it proves to be correct. 3 dodgy meters sounds unlikely to me
Fred
I wouldn't ask for meter check unless I was certain, I think it is £90.00.
I agree about the 3 meters ,it's very unlikely that they are all faulty.

I will read through the whole thread again this weekend and hopefully suggest something to try next. At 30 kWh per day it should be relatively easy: when you are down to 10 or lower, savings get a lot more difficult to find.

Just a quick update as I hate it when a story doesn't have an ending lol
Managed to get it down to an average of 19 units a day, still a bit high I think but just cant think of anything else to try.
I am amazed when people say they only use 10/12 a day , I cant see how that is possible , but it obviously is.
OH thinks I am obsessed but at least he has started to turn things off now
so I dont have to nag quite as much
The problem with the owl was sorted with a quick call to the supplier, it turns out that it wasn't tight enough on the meter cable so I pushed it down onto a slight bend and it works fine now, very accurate.
When I started this "campaign" we were putting £44.00 a week in the meter
(economy 7 meter which we didnt know about, soon got it changed )
so with that and being a lot more careful it is now about £16.00 so I am quite proud of myself.
Keep up the good work, and remember, it is the little things that add up to a big bill ( in my experience anyway)
