Desperately need a job

Ill be honest with you mate, as a 16 yearold most companies will basically shaft you, and not in any good way.
Shops want to pay you a pittance... because legally they can, and McDonalds should be a last option... I mean a deadly deadly last option, been there done that.. and there wages blow too.
B&Q or supermarkets will pay the best rate.
Lowest going rate for B&Q is £5.28, and if your willing to work tills you have a good chance of getting a job as thats where the highest turn over is (tills are boring and repetative but at least you get paid breaks, holidays and a decent discount at b&q)

Check it for your local area, there is a pshychometric test involved though (not really taken that serious by the store)
(if you apply) After applying give it 14 days for a letter to arrive with your pin and phone your local b&q and ask for HR (human resources) and tell them that your phoning about vacancies and you have a pin. If theres nothing at that time they do actually bother to phone you when theres vacancies to see if your still interested.
Good Luck0 -
Tried B&Q but got a letter back saying i have to have left compulsory school. I was told this at the beginning of application but was given a button to press to go on with it anyway but it didnt work.0

Im not sure if this has already been suggested but hair dressers normally have saturday jobs, washing hair and sweeping up. Or if you have a local market, the stall holders may require extra help a couple of my friends at school did this. It helped them with their maths no end but it was an early start, good money though.
Offer to mow peoples lawns when the weather improves a little?

i think he did the course when he was 13. the best way to find out would be through your local county football association. try this link to find out your nearest one http://www.thefa.com/Grassroots/WhoWeAre/Postings/2004/02/12003.htm
good luck

Not too good, going to go around a few more stores today, out of town ones which are really hard to get to but i will just have to rely on lifts, and the occasional bus (when it decides to come, which is very occasionally, once a month)

lisle wrote:My youngest, also Mike, earns his extra money as a referee for junior teams on a saturday & sunday morning. He went on a short course and has qualified and gets £10 - £15 per game. In the summer there are always tournaments going on and he can get upto £50 for the weekend.
A word of warning though - some of the parents think that their little treasure is the next David Beckham and every game is the world cup final, and they can get carried away with their criticism of the ref.
There's always a bit of babysitting as well.0 -
Just went around the shops again
Graden centre said they are recruiting - left my cv and covering letter
Coop said no vacancies but there may be some at other local coop food stores - left cv and covering letter
Staples say someone who does weekends is leaving in 2 weeks - left cv and covering letter
Also left my cv at some more supermarkets/garden centre's but they had no jobs.0 -
