  • I went £22 over my limit on my Granite card the other month. I didn't realise until I got my statement, and then just paid it off as normal. They didn't contact me about it, they didn't charge me, and it clearly didn't have any detrimental effect on my internal score, because they've just increased my limit again.

This means either that Vanquis have an unofficial "buffer" that you can go into before they consider you to be "over limit", or else their collections systems only pick up a percentage of delinquent accounts every month.

Either way, now they've incresed my limit to a decent amount I'll be unlikely to do it again

    Oct 16 £17873

    What card are you with?

I've had granite for a year and no increase. It's not guaranteed. Capital One seem to be better with their increases!

Mine is Granite as well, they told me last month my credit limit was under review, when they tried to flog me PPI. Sorry Repayment Plan;).

I only have a £250 limit on it, I don't want or need thousands but a bit more would be good, especially if it was in time for Christmas........

Maybe Santa will deliver me an increase letter soon;);)

I personally would disagree that it's good for Christmas, put more on it, inability to be able to pay it off, 34.9% (my rate, others may vary) interest...:eek: I only put on my card what I can afford to pay off in full by the DD :D

I've still to find someone with more than £500 on a Granite too.

I didn't mean to run up a big bill with it, been there, done that. I always pay it in full but it would be nice to know it was "there", or even use to get the interest free period in the sales. ie, buy in December but pay it in January when things aren't quite as tight financially, well in theory anyway.

Still a big mistake to run up debt on a card like that. You never know what is around the corner and it may not be wise to assume that you will always be able to pay it off in full.
