I have to ask though what is a chatham chav?

Chatham is probably the worst place to live and where the chav was born - chav is just an a**hole in a hoody running about in a beaten up nova smoking lambert and butler.

Chatham is also where Vanquis have their call center. I referred to my Vanquis card when I had it as my "Chatham Chav".

  • Hi

After being turned down from Vanquis in the past ( yes i know... very bad indeed) I have tried again after literally spending the last 6 -12 months paying everything i need to ontime and in full the application now says successfully submitted and they will call me?

Am i more likely to get a card now?

I only want one for petrol and will pay balance in full until my credit rating has increased and i can get "normal" credit improve it.

Also the fact my BF lives with me now and they asked for household income would this have improved my rating with them?

Yes sounds like you have been successful..think they tell everyone they will phone them - they then try to sell you PPI etc over the phone

they will try to tell you their cover is not ppi, but it is!
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Is there anyone with a Granite card who has been given a higher limit than £500?
  • Thanks I got the call today and was accepted didn't take anything else out extra and hopefully should receive card in a week or so. ( which will be locked in a draw and only used for petrol !) I wonder how long it will take to increase my credit rating? I pay everything well on time now so hoping this does help it !

I've had mine for 18 months now and it doesn't seem to have had any positive impact - I applied for a card with my own bank last month and was still turned down.

Thought I would post back with an update about my Vanquis Granite card.

Last month they rang me to try and convince me to take their "repayment plan" aka PPI:eek:. Well they offered me it free for 3 months, so I could try it, I refused it. At that time they said my account was under review for a credit limit increase as I had been with them for 3 months and was operating my account in a good manner. Use the card, get the bill, pay it in full straight away = credit rating improving and no interest @ 49%:D.

I was a bit dubious as to whether my limit increase might have been linked to accepting their kind offer on the PPI, sorry "repayment plan":p. Well I have not received any letters advising me of a credit limit increase to date. I have just had my 4th statement today and paid it in full today, so that is me all up to date with them.

I am now wondering if I will receive an increase or not??? The guy I spoke to a month ago said they would notify me of any increase by post or on my monthly statement. So I was hoping there may have been something on my statement but there was nothing, not sure if getting online instead of paper statements would affect that???

Hopefully I will still get a letter offering me an increase but I am now wondering if indeed it was connected in some way to the "offer" last month, or if paying in full each month is making them not consider me?
  • I was paying in full but received no credit increase. I then started leaving a small balance on the account and a couple of statements later received a letter with a credit limit increase.
