That's not a bad offer from Vanquis, trouble is, they tend to deal with subprime credit so I guess people may have issues taking them seriously..............
Wonder if they use your cash to make 69,9% interest on their "Gold Card"? If that's the case, then 3.4% looks a bit poor in comparison."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
You're right, the rate is pretty good, market leading in fact, but still, who's gonna invest with them? I wouldn't lend a penny to Scamquis.
I just wouldn't be able to take it seriously. They're a joke. Putting money in term savers with them? Not on your life.
Now, if their savings rates were in line with their lending rates, bonza... I'd give it a puntCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Just had a call from 01249263101 the scam artists are pretending to be vanquis. They were trying to say I could get cashback and free vouchers everytime I use my card. And after 30 days I would have to pay £6.95 a month for the privilege of getting cash back on transactions. No idea how these muppets knew I had a vanquis card. Nor how they knew my name and phone number.0

I had my third statement at the weekend - if I'm getting a credit limit increase when will I hear? It is after third statement, taking effect from fourth statement or after fourth statement, taking effect from fifth statement (given the 30 days notice they have to give for an increase).
Cheers
If your 4th satement is due say on the 12th October, your new increased limit will take affect from around midnight on the 13th or early hours of the 14th.0 -
i didn't get an increase on my 4th statement, but recieved a letter the other day to say that i will get an increase from £250 to £1000 on my 6th statement.0

I am in my 3rd month with Vanquis and a £250 limit. I have used my card 2/3 times each month and repaid in full as soon as I receive my statements. It is nice to know that I have the security of some credit available to me after 6 years of pergatory and something there for unexpected things that have a habit of popping up in life. However £250 isn't a lot these days as a back up and I hope to gradually build it up over time and maybe in the fulness of time get back to a better card with a much lower APR (currently 49.9%)
Can anyone tell me on average what sort of increase can I expect with Vanquis and when they usually look to increase your limit?
Also I have only been using £50 - £60 each month over 2/3 purchases, will I be considered for an increase when only spending this each month and paying it off in full? Or is it better to try and spend a bit more, or carry a small balance over? I would prefer not to carry a balance as I can't stand the thought of 50% APR. (It is a bit steep but I accept I am classed as a high risk and at least they were prepared to give me credit when nobody else would.)
Look forward to reading some replies0 -
Simon7685, how is the rest of your credit history now? Once you've had your Vanquis card for 9 months, perhaps you should apply for the Capital One Progress? It's a realistic APR and they approved me as a discharged bankrupt last yearCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I just cancelled mine after a year - they never raised my limit from 250 maybe because i only ever used it for a !!!!!! once or twiceThe only real security that a man can have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience and ability.0

I have had my card for 5 months and just been advised that they are increasing my limit from £250 to £1000. I was using it to make small purchases and paying straight back but last month made a big purchase and left a balance. It seems to have worked.0

Wow, that is a big jump from £250 - £1000. Someone else a few posts back said they had been increased like that as well. It is a more realistic credit limit but wouldn't like to think I had to use a grand at 49.9%!
If you don't mind me asking how much did you spend as a big purchase and what sort of balance did you carry over Spikescot??0
