    Oh. I thought this thread, titled V A N Q U I S, was about Vanquis.

all i was trying to say is if your disciplined with the card then its fine and have the cash in your current account to pay it off or most of it then your in a good place

but lets be realistic here the only reason you could possibly want a vanquis is that you cant get a main stream card as that the person has had financial problems "like me " in the past and you dont have a wad of cash carrying over in your current account

Ive paid my vanquis off and closed it and it was like havin a pay rise and the relief of stress of not having credit cards is fantastic

vanquis is lilke no other credit card not even aqua or capital one classic ...vanquis are there to get you into debt keep you there and make the maximum amount of money ...when your at that magical 3K limit and they promote you to gold status .... the only gold is the amount bling the directors of vanquis are wearing at your expense

That has got to be the most stupiedest statement I have ever read on this or any other forum for that matter, Do Vanquis put a gun to your head and make you apply for their card?.... NO, Do Vanquis put a gun to your head and make you use more funds than you can reasonably manage a month?... NO, granted they may not have the best apr and you may not be able to balance transfer from it, but for what it is designed to do, i,e help people who cant obtain credit for whatever reason, as its not always about bad debt, improve their credit rating, and if used correctly it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Notice those complaining are those who were carrying more than £2k balances? Vanquis must have made them spend all that money, right? The mantra all the way through this thread has been the same:

Don't put on a Vanquis card what you can't afford to pay back in full when your statement is printed!

(no doubt I'll be accused of working for Vanquis now too.....!)

Rabbit, I think what people are saying is, handled correctly, a vanquis card is a benefit and can be useful.

You could say the same about enriched uranium or TNT and that's the problem, put the wrong thing into the wrong hands and you have an explosion.

    Whats so funny?
  • I had my third statement at the weekend - if I'm getting a credit limit increase when will I hear? It is after third statement, taking effect from fourth statement or after fourth statement, taking effect from fifth statement (given the 30 days notice they have to give for an increase).

    Cheers
