J D Wetherspoons- missing tomatoes!

Hello all
WOULD YOU COMPLAIN?
Feel a bit angered by a recent visit regarding food and service. You may think this is all a bit unnecessary, but we feel let down and I think this just gets overlooked all the time, and I don't want to put up with it anymore.
My husband and I went to our local Wetherspoons on Monday and ordered a 'beer and burger' deal priced at £4.69 each.
We have had this before and in this particular pub it can be a bit hit and miss, but we took the risk.
It is described on the menu as:
All burger meals are served with salad, tomatoes
and red onion in a toasted bun, tomato relish,
chips and include a drinkand red onion in a toasted bun, tomato relish,
Well, it might sound picky but neither of us had any tomato, we had a pitiful ammount of chips and neither bun was toasted and my bun was partly frozen underneath.
We started eating, and noticing there was no tomato, said to the supervisor could we have some tomato please? She asked in the kitchen and apparently there were no tomatoes. This I don't believe and bearing in mind this pub in NEXT TO A SAINSBURYS is even more bizarre. They have loads of things with tomatoes on the menu!
The supervisor went off to chat to people at the bar. At no point did anyone say to us 'is everything ok with your meal?' Begrudginly, we ate the majority of our meal, but when supervisor took away the plates I said to her that I was disappointed. I highlighted that i was unhappy that there was no tomato and we weren't told that when ordering. She laughed and said 'well, I would have said there was no tomato if I had took your order and what could i offer you for 1 slice of tomato....I don't know,....a bit of onion?' and she guffawed at my complaint. She then said there was nothing she could do as we hadn't gone and found her on her 'rounds' of the pub (when she was chatting with others at the bar) and she was now clearing our plates, as though this was all our fault.
We were disappointed that the item did not arrive as described and no effort was made at all to substitute it. Neither did they do anything to check our meal as we ate. We are annoyed more than anything and now we have spent £9.38 and feel just angered by the whole experience.
should i write to them? Any thoughts?
feel better for a rant already!

Go somewhere else and pay £12 for a beer and Burger!0

I wouldn't bother unfortunately and just find somewhere else to eat.
Our local wetherspoons is run by part time students, full time retards. They don't care and I doubt anyone in management would care either regardless of any 'we take your complaints serious' stuff.
I still go occasionally, but have found another, local place that offers homecooked food that is far tastier and just as cheap - you should get scouting!Matched betting profit since 11th June 2006: £613.880 -

Personally, I think the time to complain is AT the time when it comes to food.
You also had two opportunities to speak with the supervisor, first when you mentioned the missing tomato, and second after she'd spoken to the kitchen, returned and told you there wasn't any. Surprised you didn't mention the part frozen bun at the same time?
Possibly didn't "check" your meal was ok, because you had already spoken with the supervisor; twice.
Admittedly the supervisor wasn't the most helpful, so that, rather than the food itself, could be the basis of a letter of complaint I suppose.
Doubt I'd go back, I'd vote with my feet and wallet.0 -

Drop a line to HQ.
While a missing slice of tomato is not the end of the world, you did not deserve to be laughed at."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I think if you do complain you should focus on how the meal wasn't representative of the description, rather than focusing on the tomato part in particular.Herman - MP for all!0

I'd be a bit annoyed too in these circumstances but just to give you some insight into working for the company.
My daughter worked in a Wetherspoons few months. They pay minimum wage, don't pass on tips to staff or allow staff to have any meals there (although initially they had a half price deal). The staff have to put up with all sorts as they don't employ 'bouncers' and it gets very hairy, especially on paydays. They often work until 3 in the morning (it shuts when people go rather than at a set time). Usually the staff are run off their feet: I went in a couple of times midweek early evening and it was incredibly busy with only 3 staff serving (including food).
None of this excuses poor service but may explain why some of the employees aren't that motivated.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

Being treated with contempt by the staff is the biggest issue."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I had a bad meal experience at Wetherspoons once, contacted the head office via the website, and a few weeks later got a voucher to spend in store by means of an apology - so it's definitely worth complaining if you weren't happy!0

Perhaps so, but the title of the thread is Weatherspoons - missing tomatoes. Couple that with the fact the OP gave a passing mention to the rest of the poor meal and the fact he or she mentioned the tomato in particular to the supervisor suggest to me where the OPs focus is lying.
I'm suggesting they use a more balanced approach if they do complain.Herman - MP for all!0 -
My sister used to work at one of their so called 'establishments' in Leicester....needless to say she left as it was a shambles.
One of those rare occasions when you'd have been fed better at McDonalds!0
