Had a breakfast in Morissions the other day and they had run out of tomato ketchup.

I had to go and pay for one from the shop!
  • Have to say out of the last two times i have eaten things have been missing from my meals, I had 1 bit of bacon instead of 2 in the burger. 2 sausages and the egg missing from the grill. Never said anything the first time but the 2nd time they sorted it out and the manager gave me a look like the chef does it a lot, She did give me a free pint which was nice lol.

  • Only had to complain once in a wetherspoons about the food. They had run out of literrally everything that should have gone into a sunday roast. We ended up with literrally meat, potatoes, peas and bread on a plate.

Complained and got free desert and coffees and they kept coming over to apologies.
    Iva started Dec 2018.

I once ordered a pie in the Wetherspoons in Tunbridge Wells, and it came out still frozen in the middle.

When I complained, all I got was "oh. would you like another one"? No actual apology! I felt like saying "no, it's ok, I will eat a frozen pie, get food poisioning....."

On another occassion, I had cause to complain about the food in Wetherspoons in Tonbridge. I complained to head office, and cc'd the pub. The branch came back with 2 free meals, and the head office sent me some vouchers! (This was about 10 years ago I think)

The pies are most likely pre-cooked, although wouldn't taste very nice.

I situations like that I like to respond with "You not even going to apologise?" -- always puts them on the spot and 9 in 10 times will get you your apology -- I don't like to think what happens once they get my food into the kitchen to replace it :o

(although generally with restaurants I think voting with your feet is more effective)

But in response to op.. although the missing tomato is derisory, I would also be annoyed if I was missing items of my food .
If though they made an effort to put extra other items on my plate to make it look full it wouldn't be such an issue. The service given to this guy was ridiculous -- although i've always like whetherspoons pubs.
  • For £4.69 each you could have had your own home-made super gourmet 100% beef burgers - service would have been top notch, food delish and you'd have saved some cash. The old adage of 'too good to be true' really does apply here - what quality of food do you think you'll be getting for that amount of money - a very poor experience - you must have known this befor eyou went in - if you'd paid a higher price you wouldn;t have thought twice about complaining.
The problem with these chain pubs offering such low cost, low quality food is that people feel almost embarrassed to complain; even if you had it would have changed nothing - the service and quality of food will not improve while people remain willing to pay for it.

I disagree. How much you have paid for a meal is irrelevant when you are talking about customer service. It doesn't cost anything to apologise and respond professionally to a complaint.

I would also dispute that you should expect a meal that costs a fiver to be poor quality. Wetherspoons can take advantage of huge bulk buying to be able to sell food and beer at the prices they do, and I have had lots of decent meals there.

If the food was so awful people wouldn't be willing to pay for it, however cheap it was. I have had plenty of decent meals in pubs, bars, cafes for £5, and plenty of very expensive meals which haven't been up to much, so price is not always an indicator of quality in my experience.

Went to weather spoons a couple of weeks ago. When i tried to give the barmaid a tip she refused and said they weren't allowed to take them. They are paid buttons and tips are part of the perks of the job. No wonder the staff change all the time.

But will it make itself, turn up at your table whilst you sit and sup a beer or two?

Its a little more than that for me and more worrying. If the chef fails to read what they are supposed to serve properly means the chef fails to read things properly! Does that mean he fails to read other things like" best before" and "use within x days" a overworked or lazy chef is a dangerous person. Spoons set the menu and the price no more you gets what you pays please, unacceptable at anyprice. Decent service from the management wouldnt go a miss and probably wouldnt have got to post here with a acceptable apology,
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
