whoever said that the profit of £48000 was low on a turnover of £1.4m, remember that the directors would probably take home a lot of the profit, and this is accounted for before the profit is calculated.
also, each connection generates revenue of something like £400+, as these companies are paid in rebates from the network (which they use to subsidise the phone and provide cashback), but with those kind of cashbacks the profits are probably less than £50 per connection

i was speaking to someone who manages call centres in india, who explained how a lot of UK based companies are selling phones. they outsource to a agents based in bigger call centres. for outbound callers, the agents get a commission of between £80-100 per connection. with MSOL companies, they are just following up leads from the website so the cost is probably a lot less.

my experience with them was quite bad, they called me up at 9am, and again every half hour until i woke up, the following morning following my order, to confirm the exact details i had provided online. they then called again the next day to confirm more details which he'd already checked! how keen they were to put the sale through
however when my credit check was declined, they didnt make any effort to contact me

on reading all your experiences, it seems like these guys are just playing the percentages, making it really hard to claim your cashback. if they fulfil every cashback promise they may make a loss, but they probably bank on say only one third of cashbacks being paid out.
as long as the parent company exists and funds available there, and you stick to your end of the contract, then you can - as many of you have - successfully claim/threaten to claim via small claims court, and guarantee to win
you just better hope that they are still in business in 12 months, or you will lose all your entitlements, and the networks will have no sympathy - and you will have to honour your airtime agreement!
  • Interesting to hear about fraudulent activity regarding MSOLS and credit cards.

My card was used fraudulently online in the week after i purchased the phone. (In one case it was used to purchase an O2 contract phone which was very confusing.)

As a further update: MSOLS failed to pay my 9 month cash back after phone calls, e-mails and court threatening letters.

A small claims court case is now proceeding, its now offiicially been served and the 9 month cash back has not been received (good!). I claiming the 9 month cash back and the final twelve month cashback and a £25 admin/hassle charge and the £4.10 for the special delivery letter.

If anyone is thinking of getting a phone from MSOLS LTD (3MOBILESHOP & MOBILE RAINBOW) forget it.
  • PS.

Anyone care to list the names and addresses, e-mail addresses, mobile phone numbers of the directors of MSOLS LTD.
  • got paid £304.10 this morning. 122.50 9m c/back + 122.50 12m c/back (not actually due yet)+ 25 hassle/admin charge + 4.10 special delivey letter + 30 court fee.

Should have mad my hassle charge higher.

Anyway, they were officially served with the court notice on the Tuesday 20th and paid by today Thursday 22. I suspect mobile rainbow has taken over the admin, and they are very concerned about their reputation.

Expect I will receive notice now that they are defending the claim.

Well that's interesting - after over 15 attempts to get my cashback, (they acknowledge receipt as they have phoned to say 'technical problems') including legal letters - I have now filed with the Small Claims Court and been advised they are defending the whole claim. That should be interesting.
I presume they are hoping that I will give up as I have to travel 200 miles to the court nearest them.
I will crawl there rather than let them get away with this scam....
I will post updates on this and on any other site I can find to help others from being scammed.

Well what can I say - further to the above I've just checked my bank account and they have paid in full - including the £30 Court fee!
Despite having stated they are defending the claim.
    What are they playing at?
Needless to say I'll never take out another contract - it is just not right to have to go to court to get your cashback!

I have now been copied the defence which states that the cash back was to be paid in three equal installments. timescale not quoted..... This is despite the Indian call centre painfully describing how you have to submit cashback at 6, 9 and 12 month intervals. I don't recall anything saying 3 repayments. Seems to me the rules change or made up as you go along.

It definitley does say it will be payed in 3 installments. Each payment will be made after each time you are required to send your bills in i.e. 6th, 9th and 12th month. As for timescale, they say it will take 30 days from the time you send your bills in. It never does though. Last claim took me 10 weeks to get back!
  • easy has this anyone that has waited more than 4 weeks and still no cashback then apply online for all your cashback via the online claims, may cosy £30 or £50 dependant on size claim, but make sure you puts the wods in your claim like breech of contract which is exactly what they have done.

Sorry, I meant 3 equal installments not related to the amount of cash being claimed.
    Thanks
  • I perhaps should have reviewed this forum before I took out a cash back contract with Mobile Rainbow. I followed their instructions and sent my 6th airtime bill in (Special Delivery). When I didn't hear from them I chased them (forget ringing their call centre) via email. I had a response asking me to provide proof of delivery, as they didn't have a record of the documents, which I did.

This morning I received an email stating

"This is to inform that 1st cash back claim applied by you has been declined as you have send only your 6th airtime where as you need to send all the six bills with in 15 days of the bill date. So according to the cash back terms and conditions we can not honour you with cash backs."

This does not correspond with the document that I have entitled "Your Cash Back Policy EXPLAINED" under the section "How to make a claim". This states “All the cash backs amounting to more than £100 will be paid in 3 equal installments. To claim it Please send a copy of your 6th 9th & 12th monthly airtime bill along with the Cash Back Voucher 1 2 & 3 respectively securely enclosed”.

I've since contacted Trading Standards and, with their help, drafted a note referring to The Supply of Goods & Services Act, 1982 which states that contracts should be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

The most disappointing aspect of this is that I was extremely sceptical of the deal from the outset and wish I'd followed my instinct. All of my dealings with this business lead me to believe that it is a scam. The small amount of web research that I've done, uncovering voluntary liquidations by similar firms, underlines my mistake.

I'm incredibly disappointed, that in the 21st century, there is no regulation in this industry. Furthermore, don't the mobile operators understand the damage to their brands? Once I've extricated myself from this mess I won't be using or recommending O2 again!

I hope that potential customers of Cash Back or Mobile Rainbow see this post and walk away.
