Morning!
Dont usually do Valentines.. have a history of things going wrong/people dying and spending most the day in tears.... BUT after saying we wouldnt for weeks we both gave in last week after OHs friend dropped him in it that he'd bought me something
So at midnight he gave me this adorable teddy in a gift box with a heart shaped mug and told me the teddy is to cuddle and make me feel safe when he cant be here and the mug is cos i drink soooo much tea.. now whenever i have a cuppa i'll think of him!Soppy sod aint he? hehe. Apparently theres another pressie to come later but he didnt wanna give me it as he hasnt finished MAKING my card yet so he wants to give me that at the same time.
I gave him some choccy hearts and heart shaped "hand warmer hotpacks" for when hes camping etc.. keep his hands warm!! Have also got him a T shirt from Asda with "The Love God" on it.. :rotfl: Also bought a "paint your own" piggybank.. and painted it with hearts and wrote "Jo and Ste Valentines 2006" on it... Gonna tell him we can use it to put all our coppers and stuff in and once a month or something use it to treat ourselves to night out, a bar of choccie or a dvd or something - Decided to do this as we argued on sunday over going the cinema cos i said he couldnt afford the £10 it would have cost cos hes got debts to pay off.... and he said that he wanted to treat me and wished id stop worrying over money so much..... and then afterwards i realised i DO nag him too much about money and we never get to do anything cos of it.So this can be our "treat" money.... then maybe when were both working we can put paper money in the piggy as we plan on maybe getting a mortgage next year instead of renting somewhere together as rents are exortiante here so can use the piggy to help save for a deposit! :grinheart
Anyway last bit of slushy stuff.... cooking him a surprise meal tonight... his favourite of homemade lasagne and homemade apple pie with ice cream for afters!!! Just hope he likes it as it will be the first proper meal ive cooked him!!
Been up since 7:30, cleaned and tidied and washed all the dishes etc.
Think were meant to be going into town today as he has to go pay part a court fineI need to get a few bits from boots too.. Might drag him for a walk along the waterfront afterwards as it looks like a nice day even if it is chilly!
Most OS thing will be cooking the meal i think! But depends on where i can drag him in town...(i.e. Lidl.. the market... garden places.. etc etc!)
Breakfast: Porridge
Lunch: God knows!
Tea: Lasagne and salad with apple pie + icecream!
Have a lovely day everyone!! :happyhear0 -
Morning (just!) all!
Not much happening here today, but I'm glad to say I've got washing drying in the (North-facing) garden for the first time this year!
Breafast; Ready Brek
lunch; cold meat that needs using up, and some soup
Dinner: mini chicken fillets from Asda and oven chips from S'bury's - hmm - not very OS!
Hope everyone who's poorly feels better soonest.

hello again, well I've managed to sort out my gas bill. The reading was wrong!!! by 180 units!!!  So bill is still high but now owe them £126 (up from £40 but this is the most expensive period) instead of £242!!!
Feeling a bit happier now although I'm freezing cold as I've turned the thermostate down again today...brrrr..might just turn it up one. Used to regularly have it on 24-22 turned it down to 21 which I will try to keep it at unless its very windy in which case its freezing in our house.
Have checked my elec readings as well as it was the same guy that took both down but they are fine.
Right need to have lunch, have a bath (I am dressed in house clothes currently not pjs lol) and get ready to walk into town, maybe do that ironing that I didn't do last night while my bath is running. Walk into town and then should be back in time to make the cottage pie, if I've got time I'll make some flap jack for us all as a treat.Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0 -
We don't do Valentine's day in the Aussie household either. Many many years ago I was given an odd rose here and there but alas that has waned.:heart2:
I am just about to hit the sack. Very hot day here again. I'm leaving for my trip tomorrow. So if you don't hear from me, you know I haven't been taken by a shark or a snake or some other creepy crawly.May not get the chance to post often but I hope you all have a lovely week and will catch up with you when I get back.
Take care
:happyhear
PS. Hope the interview goes well for Mrs Math.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Afternoon, everyone :happyhear
We don't do Valentines Day here either - good thing as I've just dropped DH at the airport, so he won't be here tonight. Had enough trauma buying cards with ds1 yesterday. Took him to Tesco and then nearly died at the price of Valentine cards. So I started some big OS hinting - ie don't you think she would like a homemade card better?
Anyway the answer was a firm no and I don't give in to commercialism that often. However we reached a great compromise when we found a forever friends b'day card that said "To a lovely friend" and inside "lots of love" with cute bear etc and it was half the price of the Valentine cards. Success!!
Very busy morning so far as DH decided to work at home before going to the airport so I also had to look super efficient - cleaned bathroom, tidied up, did ironing - and COULDN'T COME ON THE SITE!!!!!
Am making sausage and bacon pie tonight with new potatoes as a friend's 12 yr old son is also staying here tonight. I always panic about feeding other kids - mine eat basically anything and are quite adventurous - but I am aware that other children aren't the same. So I'm defrosting 4 sausage to skin and mix with some of my value bacon, minced and a chopped onion to use as a pie filling. Served with ketchup, potatoes and sweetcorn and carrots, I think I should be safe.
Beavers tonight and we're making - guess what - Valentines cards so I need to spend some of the afternoon preparing for that.
Have a lovely time this evening everyone, wharever you're doing :smileyhea“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Hi Yall and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to all you gorgeous people:happylove
Thank you to everyone who has posted best of luck messages for Mrs MATH's phone interview and all the PM's I have received.:happyhear Mrs MATH has contacted base control and told me the interview went well and she hopes to hear back from them early next week. If successful I think she then gets a 'proper' interview and then 'sycotic testing' LOL that bit will be a doddle cos Mrs MATH is fully trained in creating and carrying out sycometric (sp) testing. Just a long wait now.....
A bright and sunny day here in the emids. Just took the MATHLETTS for a walk into the village to put a free ad on the Co-Op board to sell my hoover which is !!!!!! and took mini MATHLETT for a haircut cos he looks like Little Lord Fauntleroy. £5.75 I'm deffo cutting it myself next time or getting it done at the coast for £3.50.
We havn't 'done' Valentine's Day for a few years now but we didn't do Christmas this year due to being brassic so I've splashed out on a bunch of flowers for Mrs MATH and I notice she left me a Will Young CD on my paid2click ledger this morning so romance is alive and kicking a Castle MATH.:kisses2: LOL
I've scrimped on January Grocery Budget and have managed to save enough to squander some on tonights dinner. The kidz are having something mechanically recovered with oven chips before being packed off to bed early. I've told them to be gone by eight cos if Mrs MATH and I eat after this our bedroom will be non stop action all night and by that I mean we will be up all night chomping rennies.:grinheart
One the Menu:
Seared Salomon steaks (bogof at Sommerfield)
Steamed new potatoes, mini sweetcorn, mangetout and carrot spears. Tropical fruit and whipped cream pastry baskets (coming off the diet for this one)
From the Wine Celler:
Bottle of Blue Nun U like from Aldi.
Enjoy you meal PP. I knew Mr PP would do something special for you. He's a romantic ol fool aint eh!
You are a naughty boy Squeaky, fancy posting that love token on the board for all to see. You should have just Pm'd me. I'd really no idea you were so bessotted. :rotfl:

Hello fellow OSers :hello::happylove
Well, St Valentine came today - Ok, Mr TM went out and bought 3 over-priced cards from him and the boys. I gave him a card and a cd to which he looked at it and said "oh, I'll get you a pressie this weekend then, shall I?" Yes, folks, romance is definitely not Mr TM's style :rotfl:
And I cocked up on the catering front tooFor some reason I thought it was pancake day today as well and have promised the boys pancakes. So, I'll just use it as a practise run for the real pancake day in 2 weeks time  AT least tea will be cheap though!
I've been out and done a mystery shopping job, done mum's ironing and sorted out her council tax, got a few bits 'n' bobs and have come home and eaten some lasagne (cos "it's pancake day so wouldn't be having proper tea"! Only now have I looked in my diary cos I wondered why no-one on the daily thread was mentioning pancakes) So, I have to do some more laundry shuffle cos the stuff on the rads is dry but I have another load waiting to hang out and WM still needs to go on again. DW is on and I need to blitz 2 loos - the 'joys' of having men/boys in the house
Will strip DS1's bed too while I'm up here.
Mr TM is out tonight anyway, so will snuggle up with the iron, as you do :grinheart
Have a great day everyone. Awww - squeaky - was hoping the hearts were for me, but I know better....:smileyhea
Luv 'n' hugs to all :kisses: :kisses2:

Two washing machine loads are on the line and the dishwasher is on. Our bedding is changed and ready to go on a seperate wash at higher temp.
Meal tonight will be pasta with cheese and tomato for DDs - for me and DH it will be salmon steaks and prawn fishcake with baked potatoes and carrots, cauli and green beans.
Made jelly for Dds.
We are exchanging cards later and my father has just brought me some flowers."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
Afternoon all....
I'm all set now, or as much as I can be without a run to the laundrette and post office. But I have hit a major hiccup on my part - I've "lost" my big vase :wall: I have a sneaking suspision that I gave it to Johanne when she moved in her place as I never have flowers in the house except daffodils which just fit/look good in my smaller vase :wall::wall: Oh well, I'm going to check the local shops to see if they have any big ones, if not it's a trip down to ASDA while the washing is in the laundrette  Also just thought that it might be nice if I had some fresh parsley to garnish the soup etc tonight so I'll see if the fruit shop has any, if not I will skip buying the vase from the local shop and just go to ASDA. Thank goodness it is only 10 minutes walk away at the most!
Just waiting on the last load of washing to finish - it's teatowels and I only have 2 left in the drawer so they need to go the laundrette  Thank goodness I have a 30 minute wash option :rotfl:
This is probably the last time I'll be on here today (I'm banning the computer and I'd ban the TV, but I'm on orders and I quote "At 8:00pm, you will sit down and enjoy one of your programmes on Channel 4, "You Are What You Eat"") so have a good one all :grinheart:kisses3:
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
