Having agreed as usual not to do Valentine's Day I'm getting the distinct impression from OH that he's out-of-sorts. Shame I'm not working from home today - but a quick trip to Thorntons for fudge is possible. We don't like chocolate much anyway.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0

Happy Valentine's Day, one and all :grinheart
Well today started well .. not .. when DH got all grumpy because after telling him he couldn't blue £10 on Valentine's Day, I then produced a home made card for him - which left him sitting there like a lemon with nothing to give. *sigh* I truly didn't mean it to happen that way, honest guv! You see, he'd been helping DS to make a card for his "best love girl" (aww, bless, innit cute and uncomplicated when you're seven!) and I really did think that he had been making one for me at the same time .. which was why I kept out of the way all the time they were busy creating - and why I made one for him! I dunno, you can't do right for doing wrong, hey?
The two of them have just been doing a lot of whispering and have disappeared off down to the town - so either they've left home, or there's some rectifying of the situation about to happen.
So far this morning, I've done the dishes that got left from last night - I just ran out of steam! We've just been to the new big Morrisons in the next town and spent just over £60 for a week's shopping, including acres of fruit and veg, plus DH's cider which takes out about £4.50. Looking at the way the trolley was stacking up, I thought it was going to be way more expensive than that, so I'm quite pleased - even if we were £5 or so over budget.
Goodness only knows how we found room for it all - but it seems to have gone into cupboards, freezer and fridge!
We did the meal plan for the week and today's shopping list last night, so we were able to crack on and get it done before lunch. :heartsmil I reckon I might just go and tackle the ironing pile in a minute, I can do that sitting down - 'cos my feet are singing to me!
B : Mummy bread toast and lime marmalade
L : boys had tomato soup and dipping bread, I had mackerel/avocado/ beetroot salad (in other words, all the leftover salad bits that needed eating up before they went manky - with a tin of mackerel chucked on top!). :happyhear
D : tuna pasta bake with mixed salad.
Fingers crossed for Mrs Math .. all those going away for a few days, hope you have a safe journey and a great time .. hugs to those who need them and lots ofto everyone else!

Back from my friends, she has accepted an offer on her house, so life is going to change for them, for me it goes on as usual.
I cooked mince in the SC overnight for a shepherds pie for DD2 and the GC who are here for lunch tomorrow, have to make up a jelly with oranges in for their sweet and look at toad in the hole for us tonight, Just going to peel and slice the spuds for the top of the pie, will cook and mash them and once the spud is cold will put the pie in the fridge until tomorrow........
Have a load in the washer but its too late to put it on the line today, will leave it on the airer in the living room tonight, should be dry by morning.....another load for the washer tonight and thats the laundry done until we get back from Paris......lots of us seem to have wedding anniversaries in feb.... ours 28th 9 years married but we lived together for 7 years before that.......so the Paris trip is an anniversary celebration in a way although we will be back for the actual day.
OH is doing some clearing up in the front garden, but will be in shortly for Countdown so better go and put the kettle on for a coffee, its clear but cold out there.......

:heart2: :heart2: Afternoon all,
Seem to be spending half-term at the doctor's.Was there yesterday with dd and her allergies, back again with ds2 and his impetigo. He had it 2 weeks ago, took all his antibiotics,it cleared up but now it's back again-v.annoying.
I expect ds1 will go down with something tomorrow
Anyway had to wait 40 mins in doc's then 35 mins at Tesco pharmacy(next to doc's-handy but v. busy).I wisely didn't take my purse so had perfect excuse for not buying kids anything.Kids were still major pain whilst waiting, kicking each other, flicking each other with coats, not wanting to carry coats(warmed up here) generally whinging.Still,we walked there and back so we've had some exercise.
Kids now out in the road(cul-de-sac) with neighbours kids getting more exercise and leaving me in peace........for the time being. It's only a matter of time before dd comes in crying because older girls won't let her play with them.
Have done some baking-2 dozen oatmeal-sultana muffins(sprinkled with flapjack crumbs that I collect when cutting flapjacks for school up and keep in the freezer-waste not).
3 loaves of bread rising and I've also cooked a whole packet of borlotti beans for the freezer.
Discovered leftover goulash in freezer-perfect for OH and my supper later.0 -
Afternoon all! :kisses:
not been around for a few days due to computer problems!
going to have to buy a new one I think. We have an old laptop and an old desktop but both are cr*p! so trying to scrape some cash together for a cheap deal.
Feeling a bit poorly at the moment.Woke up Saturday with a pain in my ribs and my underwired bras are murder to wear! :grinheart still no better, just feel really stiff. Will see how it goes and might go to doctors at end of week if no better.
MATH :happyhear I hope you and Mrs MATH enjoy your meal tonight!
Mr Taplady bought me a teddy!(a bear not the underwear! :blushing: ) :blushing: then later spoiled it by telling me it was £2.99 at Texaco if you bought £30 of petrol! Still its nice and as I usually get nothing I mustn't moan :happyhear
MY 2 boys are doing a radio show on the internet this afternoon, so far they have 4 listeners!! :happyhear
Have a nice valentines day all! :iloveyou:Do what you love :happyhear0 -
:happyhear Hello everyone! Happy Valentines to those of you that do and those that don't!
We do in the chickadee house. I bought DP a new running watch. Not at all OS but he is doing the London Marathon in April so he needs it for his lap times ets. His old one went chips a couple of weeks ago. I did make him a card as I couldn't bring myself to do the Asda 8p card. He came home last night with a bunch of red tulips (if they had been roses I would have told him off for spending too much!) and gave me a lovely card this morning. He also slipped me a tiny envelope and I had no idea what was in it. He had shooed me out of the study last night and was busy with something or other. Anyway, I opened the card and it was a lovely picture he had printed from the pics we took on holiday earlier this year with a message on it saying he had booked me a hot stone back massage! Yay! What a treat. He really is such a sweetie!
Got a call from school asking me to pick up DS at lunchtime as he was feeling unwell. Just had time to get him home, he ran upstairs and was vioently sick. Fortunately he had made it to the bathroom. Phew! He slept for a while then asked for some toast. He is now right as rain watching the skiing on the box. I wish I could recover as fast as him.
I need to wash my car in a minute as I am taking some colleagues out in it and it is like a mobile dustbin at the moment.
I don't think DS will be going to football training so it looks like my running is up the swanny too as I will have to stay home and look after him. (If he goes to footy, DP takes him as he runs on the track at the same facility as DS plays football.)
Had HM leek & potato soup for lunch with HM bread.
Tea will be sweet & sour chicken & rice for me and DP. Will see if DS is up to any tea later.
Have a good evening everyone.
Good luck to Mrs Math too.

happy valentines day all! :happyhear
...i have never previously done valentines day (ex's agreeing with me in the commercial nonsense stand) but, apparently there is a card waiting for at the house of Pete! but he's too ill (proper ill, not just man-flu apparently) to bring it round to me, so i have to wait.....
so, big question.....do i get him one or not??? i don't agree with the whole thing and have only been kinda going out with him for maybe 10 days...but, is it rude to not, seeing as I know he has one for me??! what would you all do? HELP!
so, onto less luuurve-themed things, Im back trying to be as OS as I can...not exactly impressive by most of your standards, but nvm! flat is smelling of vinegar and cleanliness, and i have a meal plan for 2 weeks, with all stuff for those meals in my cupboard except for the fresh stuff.
curently reading endless posts on here and my other pet forums, as I have 3 essays needing to be written, and im still in the 'work denial' phase...once I start typing they'll be ok, but am currently wasting my day quite successfully
Off to comedy night at the Union later, should be a good laugh...if its not I want my money back!

We do, do valentines day in are our house but it is a max budget of £10. Don't tell husband but I did spend £10 on him. Got him a chocolate fondue set, some lindt 85% choccie, some heart shaped hand warmers for when he is out playing robin hood and some King of shaves shaving gel.
But our wedding anniversary is 4th of March and then Husbands birthday is 17 March. So loads of pressies. That is why it is £5-£10 max. And no more. But I have spent a total on pressies for all for all of the above for about £15 so roughly £5 each. Well nearly as todays was nearer £10. Never mind.
Confused the SA in sainsburys by using some Luncheon vouchers. He said he not seen any of those and he had worked in there for 3 years. Pays to keep them on there toes. So tonights tea is:
Tuna Pate
Steak, wedges and salad
And chocolate fondue for dessert with coffee and irish cream after eights.
Husband has a interview tonight at 6.30. Seems they very keen to get him on board which would be great as where he works has dropped his hours by 25% for at least the next few months.
Husband spent 20 mins on the phone to the CSA trying to get it though to them it would be a short payment as he has a mortgage etc to pay and less wages. And the next payment will be late as he will be getting virtually no pay due to two weeks enforced unpaid leave plus reduced hours. He will get the back money backfor the two weeks but he has no choice and has to take the time off. What a way to wreck a day talking to them. Like :wall:
Husband is now in the other bedroom wrapping my presents up. He sent me out the room even though I know what most of them are. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Yours

OOooo Squeaky! I hope you're not going to have us in suspenders for too long with this! Can we have a clue please...?
Today has been OK, boss wasn't in, so that always cheers the place up. She's alright really, but sometimes she goes deaf when you've got a grump about something, she can't be bothered with any hassle.
I remembered to clip my pedometer on this morning. At lunchtime, instead of coming home, I went for a walk. Not an especially long walk, but every little helps. When I got home this evening it only read 870 steps. This CAN'T be right! I definitely did more walking today than yesterday. The pedometer was a freebee from Walkers crisps (oh the irony:rolleyes:!) so maybe I should splash out on a decent one from a sports shop.
At the moment it's horribly wet and windy out. Am I going out for a walk in that? Err no, I'm not! I would rather stay in and do my history homework.
For everyone who does do St Valentine's Day, have a lovely romantic evening, and spoil each other rotten.
