thriftlady wrote:Thanks Elaine but we don't have freeview either. We thought that's what we were getting when the Sky went, but apparently it's not available in our area-anyone in Worcester know any different? We still get all the BBC channels,so CBeebies and CBBC are there. No E4 or More4 though
The whole freeview thing is really bizarre. We bought MIL a freeview box for her birthday, but then (after we bought it of course - no one mentioned that it might not even be available) found instructions in the box  to text & check if the signal was available. Of course the text back said it was not  We were not very happy, but BIL has freeview, & he only lives a short way from her. Apparently the difference between receiving it & not can be just a few yards!!!!
Anyway, having bought the thing, we decided to persevere - and it works fine!
Incidentally, we did the text thing for our postcode, & the answer was that it might or might not work!!!!!! How helpful is that?? :mad:0 -
OH bought me loads of flowers yesterday (2 bunches of roses, and 3 bunches of tulips). Early valentines he said proudly....and that I was worth every petal. Ahhhhh isn't he sweet. (sorry to those who are now running to the nearest bathroom). He's going to be getting a few surprises tomorrow (can't say as I know he reads the boards).
Anyway, tea is pork chops with something...probably pasta...don't know exactly as OH is cooking it.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Penny-Pincher!! wrote:CQ-Thanks for the advice, its much apreciated! DD already has the vivarium from the tortoises she had. She has bought recently a thermostat, lamp and bulb, sand, cricket keeper/feeder, heat mats and some other bits. Still need to get a couple of small bits but the bulk is bought. The dragon will cost around £40:eek: I really dont like anything like this...yuk!! DD & OH have been borrowing books from the library about the reptiles.
Great stuff! ... it sounds as though she has her heart firmly set on getting one then... and £40 is actually pretty cheap for a beardie (I'm assuming you're looking at a juvenile/adult as there won't be any babies around for a few months yet)
She's made an excellent choice for her first lizard as they're very friendly and love lots of interaction and handling, so as long as she's done her homework and knows how to look after him/her properly she'll have a little friend for many, many years to come :T
Mine are currently entering breeding season again so are driving me crazy running around the place, not to mention terrorising the poor cats :rotfl: ... but I wouldn't be without them"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

you do realise she will be mobbed by all the regulars on the Grabbit board :rotfl: Re your financial probs, is there anything you can do personally (p/t work?) to bring in a bit extra? Even just short-term while things are really tight? Or (as I've suggested before) find a way of making a bit of money out of one of your "two places at once"? I've put in a word with "him upstairs" anyway as per your request
It is the on starting with a B (we have high hopes for this interview - maybe cos it's the first one she has got in 7 months) I'm sure if she can get a foot in the door she will easily sell herself as she is a real 'people' person and not known for being a wall-flower:kisses2: (love the new smilies - this one is my fav). Just hope she doesn't scare them off (she seems to scare some men who don't like strong women) hehehehe
I do work PT from home (2-3hrs a day) which is starting to bring me some money in, enough to feed us on a good week anyway. A earn a bit of cash re-touching the roots of a select gathering of clients (don't do too many tho as I have no insurance) Mrs MATH and I have discussed me going back to work full-time but it is against everything we thought was right for us when we started a family and I also the voluntary work in the village and the numerous committees/working parties at church awould have to stop if I worked even a bit more PT than I do now. Living in a small village being invovled in theses things is VERY important. If things don't pick up in the next few months tho we will have no choice.

Your post reminded me of one of the mums at school, whose house is like a reptile house, they have snakes, gekkos (?), spiders and all sorts of other weird things! Needless to say I've never accepted her offer of coffee.
She did make me laugh though, because she too, explained that the crickets need as much looking after as the pets prior to them becoming dinner, and so she keeps them in her boiler cupboard in the kitchen. She said that when she comes down in the morning, her kitchen sounds like "Club Tropicana" :rotfl:
Frizz
Sounds rather like my place ... although I've now got less than half the reptiles I had a year or so ago
It can sound quite exotic listening to the crickets chirp, that is until one gets loose (it's the males that sing the loudest  ) and hides out somewhere in your bedroom keeping you awake all damn night "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Hi All,
:kisses3: to all OSERS who needs em.GOOD LUCK MRS MATH, EVERYTHING X'D FOR YOUHave just finished straining my first batch of HM chook stock :T so am feeling very virtuous. Its in a big bowl in the fridge now waiting for the fat to set before decanting into pints and freezing. Am feeling better about making bits for the kids with that, no nasty salt. I've also started steaming the veg before making gravy (yes, with bisto) and then using the veg water to do the gravy with-extra vitamins??
DD1 and I have just put an enormous chocolate and courgette cake into the oven. Actually it has apple in it too as I didnt have enough courgettes, hope it still works.
Have tried/failed/given up potty training ds today. Hes too ill to attempt it properly. Might wait till we are settled in the new place. Speaking of ill, DH has called from work to complain of 'flu', now considering I coped with awful flu and 3 kids alone for 2 days last week while he was in wales and he called it "man flu" when I had it - NO SYMPATHY FROM ME!!!! Thegood thing is I'm not having to cook for him tonight so have just grabbed some spagbol from the freezer for the kids.
DD1 is doing the washing up so am gonna have to dash before we are flooded out.
Chat later,

On the other hand, I was speaking to one of our regular guest priests a little while ago about the dire financial straits our church has been in for several years; we'd just raised £500 with a benefit concert and I said "What we need here is a general culture of fundraising". He disagreed: "What we need is a prayerful congregation". A month later, we finally got the news we had waited for - the lease on our crypt has finally been signed, giving the go-ahead to a local nursery to set up there and start paying a rental income which will keep us afloat :j :j :j
So these things do turn up, God ain't going to let you starve, and I wish Mrs MATH all the best for her job interview - it must be very frustrating for her at the moment :grouphug:Operation Get in Shape
