  • Afternoon

Still feeling full of cold and yucky.

Quite a few jobs done and OH has taken DD out to give me some peace and quiet:D Have put 15 auctions on ebay and am just laying on the safa watching some TV.....boring really.

A few jobs will be put off till monday as I really cant be bothered as feeling rough. OH has his list in place for them..poor guy..LOL.

Hopefully SIL will be coming monday and all will be forgotten about argument last week. Have had to take a more business like approach to it, and either she does the job or I get someone else who will!! I know it sounds harsh, but I have jobs that need doing weekly and am paying her very good money to do them. If it was anyone else whom I had employed they would have been spoken to ages ago IYKWIM and probably sacked:eek: I have apologised but not for what I said but the way I said it. I am not a bit*ch really:rotfl:

Staying at home 24/7 is driving me insaine and I NEED to get back to work. My OU course starts this week, so I do have something to focus on. OH started his last week:T and is enjoying it. Have done my first essay already..LOL...and hopefully I will get a good grade. I have so many thoughts running through my head of what my plans are when I get better. I have always been a worker and always earnt good money and am really missing the buzz it all brings. I like challenges and thrive best in these circumstances. I have also contacted an editor about me writing a book on my life. Had a pretty sick and twisted childhood and explained a little to the editor and he thinks it would be a good read....not fully sure on this yet as its so personal, but its another challenge, even if it never gets published.

    Anyways, Id best go.

    Take care everyone.

  • Hello Everyone,

    ((((((((((((((((((((((((((MATH))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Sorry you are a bit down, I hope your finances take an upturn soon.
Hugs to everyone who is miserable today. I'm fighting it myself, one or two work related problems going on at the moment, discussed them with OH the other night and he was very supportive so I felt much better, but as its the weekend Im blanking it all out!

My car would not start again last night, so OH (lovely person - he is not usually as helpful and supportive as this he is just having a good week! :A ) jump started it and took it off to kwik fit for a new battery. I then took it off to Aldi to do the shopping, and it was a bit slow to start so Im keeping my fingers crossed its OK.
OH is off to Germany for a few days next week and is leaving his car at the airport, so I hope mine is working. Luckily I use the bus for work at the mo so thats OK. Only one more week at work then I've got half term week off - hurrah! :j

I've bought some raspberry and tayberry bushes from Aldi, and also lots of fruit. Im not really a fruit eater, although I love veg. However I am going to give up chocolate for lent, in order to lose some weight. (DD1 informed me that I will never stick to it) so I decided to start a bit early as have 3 stone to lose! As OH is away next week Ive altered my meal plan, he is not keen on veggies and likes his meat, where Im the opposite so Im having brocolli/cauliflower cheese one night and hm pizza (OH does not like pizza as he hates cheese) the other night.
Right loads of jobs still to do - beds to make, towels to wash, TD to load, DW to empty, DD2 to chivvy along (she has been back from her dance lesson for an hour and a half and she is still in her leotard standing on her head - my mum told her it will make her hair grow faster :rotfl:
    Take care everyone.

Thanks for all your wonderful posts and pm's. In defence of Mrs MATH she is working very hard at applying for jobs and working full-time as a temp (for crap money) which must be difficult for someone used to being a high flyer, hobnobbing with fellow directors and telling others what to do. I must admit it is a real shock to us that nothing has come along TBH I think we both thought it would be 3 or 4 weeks extended family time at the coast during August before starting another job. Neither of us had banked on the 'over' syndrome kicking in. OVER qualified, OVER experienced, OVER paid (by provincial standards) and OVER 40. Apparently people won't employ you once they see you started work 4 years before they were even born. LOL:D
Mrs MATH is just not a worrier, you could tell her she was on a colision course with a ten ton truck and she would take a quick nap before deciding what to do - absolutely infuriating if you are the worrywart.:o If I'm panicing I want company:D

I had jelly for lunch today. Just couldn't resist it.

Earlier in summer when making rhubarb and strawberry crumble I found that I got lots of liquid produced which made the crumble soggy. So I gently simmered the last lot and lifted the fruit out with a slotted spoon. I froze the juices intending to make a nice syrup out of it sometime, but in fact decided to experiment and got some gelatine.

    Result !! :)

So now I'm thinking of other fruit juices I can make into jellies...

MATH, quite often things turn up when you least expect it. A couple of years ago, i was told that 3 of the 4 children i was looking after would be leaving, giving me 2 weeks notice. I was mortified, there was no way i could afford to live on the money the 1 child left was going to leave me with, and i was getting the full benefits i was entitled to. Anyway, the weekend before i was going to be up the creak, i finally had 2 phone calls, and the spaces i had were filled, perfect timing!!!! I know i only had 2 weeks worry, but i had nothing to fall back on and didnt know what i was going to do. So i hope that its a similar story for you and your family, and everything will work out for you xxxxxx

squeaky - I saw Nigella do that with rhubarb - sounds yummy. Can you do it with gooseberry - or is that one of the fruits that react with gelatine and don't set. I know it includes pineapple and kiwi fruit, but dunno about goose-gogs.

Ok - so, despite my late start, I've done 2 loads of washing, although have a mountain on my bed that needs sorting. Have done liver in SC (for me) and bol sauce in a pan (for them). About to make garlic bread for the hoards. I've vac'd throughout, shampooed bathroom carpet (boys rooms can wait) and got spare mattress out and made up bed for nephew. Need to give bathroom a quick once over cos sink is looking grubby (but would an 11 yo notice? :D) May do ironing tonight in my room, while everyone else watches dvd's downstairs.

Also, I joined my first online dvd rental thingy today :D Get 5 free rentals, plus free Davina McCall workout video + get £7 back cos went through Greasypalm :D:D Have it in my diary to cancel too!

Ok - off to feed the 5000. Spaghetti need cooking and I need to refill my glass (this Aldi port is very moreish :D:D) *hic* Dunno what state I'll be in later.........(sober, knowing me - I can't go to bed drunk cos I'm no good with hangovers :( )

See ya later peeps and special hugs to MATH (cos I'm in that sort of mood. Hope Mrs MATH doesn't mind - tell her it's a sisterly hug :rotfl:)
  • Hi TM,
what is the Aldi port like ?
I'm occasionally tempted by a bottle of port - i normally go for Grahams Port - just because i like the name :)

    Cheers
