Morning all :hello:
Well, I beat the kids up this morning - by all of 5 minsVery strange night last night. Woke at 4.40 and I'm not sure I went back to sleep again, rather entered that 1/2 sleep state where you know you're awake but not aware of the time. Came to at 7.20.
Me and boys up and breakfasted, nephew and Mr TM still in the land of nod.
Just put SC on - it's a huge leg of lamb. Will be doing roasties, roast veg, steamed veg and gravy and I think I'll make a cherry crumble for pud. What can I put with cherries if I want to add another flavour? I bought a huge jar of morello cherries from Lidl before Xmas so don't know if they will be too strong or overpowering on their own.
Lunch will be veg soup (me) and probably butties or beans etc on toast for the 3 boys. Sister and rest of her brood and mum arriving this afternoon to help me eat this roast dinner.
Other than that - rest of the day will consist of some dusting and polishing (prior to mother's inspection), bathroom and loos need cleaning, ironing (will wait till tonight and watch some tv) and some child entertaining, although 11yo nephew is quite helpful in that department.
Ok - off for a surf. I'm sure I'll think of some earth shattering news in a while, but head still needs more tea. (((hugs))) to everyone

'morning everyone
My goodness, we do have lots of early risers today! Didn't get to sleep until 1.30 am as I was enjoying reading my library book. Finished that one and started the next at 6.30 this morning. Having time to myself is bliss
Turkey carcass has been turning itself into a nice stock overnight in the slow cooker ... will sort that out shortly. We cut our Christmas free range turkey into pieces - this is the last piece to come out of the freezer and there should be enough meat to pull off the carcass to turn into a soup or something.
Yesterday OH and I worked our way through the bag of potatoes in the pantry. Did about half and now have 5 family sized bags of mash and 3 bags of par boiled potatoes (to make roasties with) in the freezer. I also made a batch of apprentice_tycoon's Celery Soup for the freezer (for lunches later in the week). Made a batch of yoghurt yesterday and will do another today - so that we are well stocked up for the week.
I plan to make some quiches and lamb pasties today for the freezer, so that I don't have to worry so much about cooking in the week.
Prudent - I had my first small patch for vegatables last year and found perpetual spinach very easy to grow. I also grew potatoes (in the patch and in buckets) which were to die for. Other things included onions, cougettes (in buckets) and tomatoes (in buckets). I also grew herbs - in pots and hanging baskets. Oh, and I also grew peas (again in buckets). The buckets stretched my garden space.
Have a lovely OS day everyone :wave:Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

Morning all
First of all, an apology to Math for thinking he was female .. ~blush~ I did do a post about it at the time, but either my puter or the site decided to throw a wobbly and nothing would load, so the moment was lost.
Anyway, moving on ...
Good luck with the house move, Aussielass!
PP .. can I come to your house for dinner, please?I love a roast!
Red .. I'm new here, so if I've missed stuff about your wrist and I'm on the wrong track, just ignore me - but I wonder if Lloyds Cream might help? My Mum recommended it to me when I had a soft tissue injury to my knee - and it did help with the pain. Its not exactly cheap - but a little goes a long way and its available from the chemist. I think its aspirin-based, so you would need to watch your painkiller intake, but it might be worth finding out about.
We're off to see the Chinese New Year celebrations this morning - Lion Dancing and Dragon parade. Then its back home for lunch (and put some chicken breasts in the SC to poach for dinner tonight) and off to the in-laws to collect a duvet and some pillows that they've got for us.
We enjoyed "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" on DVD last night - quite amusing and great special effects. Very gothic, too! If Terry Gilliam wasn't involved somewhere along the line, they've been watching his stuff. LOL
'till later!Have a great day all.

Morning!
Math: Sorry to hear you are also having a tough time at the moment, I know how you feel about wanting company whilst panicking, im exactly the same - I at least need acknowledgement that the problem im freaking out about really does exist or it just makes me worse! I hope you feel better soon ((((Hugs))))
I had an interesting evening last night with the boyf - we actually had a conversation about finance, economies and how its all linked (mainly explaining inflation, gordon brown (grrr) BoE, interest etc). Boyf was quite enthused when it had been explained that various things have knock on effects - he liked the fact it was all interlinked. Being me, (clever that I am) managed to 'interlink' this quite subtly with personal finance, then the finishing topic was 'get a job' without me screaming and throwing things. It seems to have all been taken on board so Im going to continue it today and now im not letting up, he will subtly hear 'go get a job' whilst iim serving him roast chicken!
Today's tasks are of the baking variety as I did most of the cleaning yesterday and only have to do a bit of ironing and clean the bathroom, so im going to make Roast Chicken dinner, with the remains a lovely chicken soup for work, ive got some fruit that im going to use to bake muffins (and some lovely chocolate in them), and I might make some lemon & lime marmalade. I could probably do with a loaf too.
I went shopping yesterday as the boys were here so I bought myself some new shoes for work from Next (with cash instead of the account!) and really enjoyed the process of choosing and trying on, went to Ikea and bought storage jars as im sick and tired of bags of stuff (pasta/rice/lentils etc - it drives me crazy!) splitting in drawers etc. I need some more I think so Ill go back today. Im slowly trying to get fully organised, id have bought a filing cabinet if they had an oak one to match the rest of my bedroom/office furniture. I nearly bought one from Tesco but it seemed a little... like it would fall apart anyway (and it was £50!). I then ended up in Tesco doing a basics shop then took myself to lidl for a posh shop as I bought olive oil with pink peppercorns etc in it, 3 types of herbs (basil, chives, parsley - please tell me how to keep them alive as plants are dying on me at the moment - ive repotted them but the basil isnt too happy), a 5 speed hand mixer with dough hooks for the massive price of £4.99
, and some ciabatta bread mix.
anyway, I think I might just go back to bed for an hour first though as im still tired even though I woke up naturally, or maybe have a nice relaxing bath. Hope you all have a good day!

Morning all
Wet and windy here this morning - typical as I fancied going out!
Had some good news yesterday, had lent my parents some money just before they moved, they paid it back yesterday with a bit of added interest!!!! (£200) They said to treat ourselves to something nice.......trouble is we lay there last night trying to decide what something "nice" would entail........and couldn't think of a single thing we want/need. I'm off to transfer the money into a savings account for safe keeping......or it will get frittered.
Brekkie - Fruit and toast
Lunch - Errmmmmmmm
Dinner - Toad in the hole, stuffing, roasties etc etc etc
Charlotte 664...I have problems with yorkies too - I've given up doing individual ones, just make a huge roasting tin sized one - perfect every time.
Have a great day all......and TM --- did you use a whisk on the kids?? :rotfl:"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning all,
Math, I hope you're feeling a little better this morning?
TM don't beat the kids too hard will you?
Even though I didn't get too sleep till 1 this morning and DD had me up at 7 I feel bright and breezy this morning. So I'm not staying on here too long as I want to get loads done if DD will stop following me around the house, you'd think at nearly 5 she would have learnt how to play by herself?
Lack of sleep was entirely my own fault, DH was at work and I had the chance to drool over Brad Pitt with long hair in Interview With The Vampire. Yum yum!! Had a nice lie in as DD was happy to stay in her room now she has her new TV/DVD combi. That was £75 well spent in my opinion
DH will be in bed all day so it's shredded wheat for brekkie, sandwich for lunch and chinese stir fry for tea.
Just off to browse the site and then do the ironing and clean the kitchen and do a little more sorting out and tidying up. The faulty TV is supposedly being picked up tomorrow so hopefully I can sort out the living room then.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
