  • Morning all :hello:

(((((hugs))))) to all who need them

Chardonnay - know how you feel - we have been in the same situation although my stepkids have now matured a bit and realise that they can't play one of the other and TBH they now realise how bad their mother is at trying to manipulate situations. I echo what others have said - if you and OH are on good terms with the mother ask her (unfortunately we are not - she doesn't even talk to OH) - I would defo get the "old" XBox back and either keep it to use at your home or sell it towards the new one. I must admit we have always given the kids money for their birthday - usually £20 -and if we have the money we go bowling and for something to eat (their choice). Incidentally DSS called last night - when we where talking he informed me that he bought a Xbox 360 during the week (he is 14) - he had won £200 of vouchers for HMV mind you at Braehead

KC - good luck with your driving lesson

OH just home from nightshift - is having couple of hours sleep then of to collect kids - there if footie on the TV so he will be watching that

House is tidy - DW nearly full - waiting to hang bedding outside - it is a little foggie here today waiting for that to lift.

    B/l - dunno
D - pizza and garlic bread and maybe some potato wedges (off to look for recipe)

    Have a lovely day all

    Take care

    Morning all,
Chardonnay, cant add anymore, but good luck, im sure you will work it all out,
Kiwi - good luck with the driving,
PP - hope you feel better (and the weather gets a bit warmer for you!!!)
Sue - how scary!!!! glad you got out of there safely!!!
Well, hardly slept last night, i had hoped to sleep well as i had had a nice glass of wine with a friend who popped round, but it didnt help. Had a lovely gossipy evening tho, which is nice as i spend most evenings on my own (happy that way, but is nice to see someone every now and again!!!)
Need to get moving this morning tho, still in my pjs, and have to take DS to football for 11, so we get to spend another 2 hours in a cold muddy field!!!
Also need to get the WM on and empty the DW, but might leave that till we get home.
Children found a cat with a bird in the garden this morning, so i went to rescue the bird, it looks like it has a broken wing, so ive put it on a towel outside the back door, dont know of anyway of keeping it safe from the cats, but it made my 2 a lot happier that ive moved it away.
Well, better get showered and dressed, hopefully i will feel a bit more with it once ive done that!!!!
Take care everyone, hugs to all who need one xxxxxxxxxxxx

    Morning All

    Hugs to everyone

Chardonnay: If SS does manage to get the money togerther it might be a good time to introduce MSE principles ie shop round for the best deal etc. I would certainly get back the old XBox. It drives me  the speed computer consoles go out of date. DH is wanting a 360  but he will have to wait. Spolit nephew got a PSP for Xmas and is getting a 360 for his birthday in July  s.

PP: Hope your cold gets better

KC: Good luck with the driving

Elona: Hope your DD feels better soon

Brummiebabe: If you find an easy way to clean a cooker let me know.

Anyway DD slept alot better last night partly i think because she had a good drink of milk before she went to bed. Shes been refussing her bottle at bedtime. Last night I got 2 new cups for her on BOGOFF in Tescos and put her milk in 1 so she had a really good drink before bed. I think this the start of her self weaning off her bottle which I'm pleased about only the morning to go and we will be bottle free :j .

Got to deffinately go to the butcher this morning. Then I'm going to nip round to SIL with 4 loafs of frozen Weight Watchers bread that I found in the bottom of the freezer, now I've tasted HM I wont be going back to WW. This afternoon I'm going to make some of CQ base sauce so we can have Korma tonight and proberbly cook up some mince that I get from the butchers for freezer meals :D .

    Breakie: Tea and Toast
Lunch: Pasta and left over tom sauce
    Tea: CQ curry

    Have a good day everyone

Sorry to hear about problems with your stepson Chardonnay. Me & my DH went through some terrible times with his daughter from his first marriage & although it might not be much comfort at the moment, she's grown up now, completely understands what was going on (mother trying to manipulate her) & is a delightful young woman. She actually finds it difficult to forgive her mum & told DH & me that we are her family now & although she's in touch with her mum, keeps her at arms length & to some extent. It's sad but the ex brought it on herself.
I feel so sorry for those who've had broken nights because of children, illness or whatever. Everything is so hard when you don't get your rest isn't it. I remeber when my boys were little, my husband said 'I can't wait until they're 14 & we can't get them out of bed in the mornings'. When we got there it was all slamming doors & stamping feet & 'it's not fair!' The joys of being a parent eh?
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. I'm just going to shut the cold out & potter. Lovely! :j

Nothing to exciting for me today but have a friend round tonight for an evening of scary movies!!!!!!!!!!!!! WM on and SC on - ironing to do (as always) general tidying and a spot of hoovering. Children have homework and pets to clean out (they will be pleased).

    Morning all,

Huge Hugs Chardonnay, it's so difficult when they want something we can't afford. Just tell him that although the Xboxes sound great they are at the moment a huge liability, not enough time spent on making sure they were reliable before they went out and loads of them having to go back!! I was reliably informed by an assistant in Game yesterday who was completely gutted because he had lost half sales figures in one day by having to refund yet another one that had come back.

Not having a good day here either, I forgot to take my tablets last night, DD had me up 6 times in the night and now I can barely move. I have to dig the raspberry canes up but think I may just retire to the sofa and carry on making my rug.

    Morning all!

Chardonnay - I have a similar gripe as my DS has a PS2, which he is really happy with. We gave the PS1 (that me and XH bought for him jointly years ago) to him to take to his dad's. They used to use it quite a lot but now his Step-mum has bought him a game cube. The games are all different and he can't use any of the ones he already has as they aren't compatible. So now he will have to buy new games for the new platform. Pointless! Still, at least he isn't playing us off against each other. Interestingly, he gets quite a lot of money as gifts at Christmas and birthdays from family who live away and he is soooo tight with it when it is his own money. He wanted a game afte Christmas and asked me to buy it for him from ebay as it would be cheaper!! Obviously an apprentice MSE :money:

A quiet day of sorting out and tidying up today. I need to put BM on as we are at the end of the latest loaf. Also there is plenty for WM to do and I need to sort out my endless piles of paperwork - where does it all come from?

Having a lazy morning here though. My first week back after holidays has been a horrendous one at work! I'm ready for a break  .

I don't know yet what lunch will be but I had HM bread toasted with HM damson jam for breakfast. It is the last jar of jam I have. I need to make some marmalade too as we all love marmalade and I always make my own - from a jar of the prepared seville oranges you can get. I also make plum jam and damson jam in the late summer. Mmmmm... lovely!

Oh well, it won't get done with me on here, see you all later!

    Morning all!

I had a lie in this morning so now im full of energy and have loads to do, but cant because boyf's visiting friend is asleep on the sofa and all I want to do is kick him off, send them both out so I can do my cleaning. I need to vaccuum and air the rooms, mop kitchen/bathroom floors and fancy doing it to some uktv food or music. Its annoying because its my day off and I want my space as Its rare I get chance to enjoy it.

I think ill go take a shower and have a mooch around tesco and do some mental food planning while im there and nip to the Post office to send off my next vouchers to pay off my account (almost there - after the vouchers hit there will only be £65 left!!! One more month and that debt is cleared!). I wish the pair of em would get up and go away.... I want to do my own thing instead of be quiet in my own house!

chardonay sorry about your probs with your step son, hopefully you can sort something out
Kiwichick hope your lesson goes well
pp hope you get better soon.
and hugs to all those who are lacking sleep or ill.

Dp has the lurgy and is quite ill althoug he has trundled off to work this morning with parecetamol and vicks in tow.
We also had a bad nights sleep, but it was something quite scary. We both heared a big truck and for some reason (being half asllep) I thought it was the oil tanker filling the tank , at 3 in the morning  . But it wasn't we woke up to 3 fire engines out side and there has been a really bad fire in the flat opposite us, luckily they are all ok, but it spread into a neighbouring flat so is all I can see when I look out the window is broken glass and black windows where the smoke travelled. So thankful no one got hurt, but it reallt brings home the devistation fire can cause.
Going to sort out my bedroom today as it's a tip and has been neglected for many weeks.
Will also go and see the neighbours and see if there is any thing I can do to help, probably can't offer much, but its nicer to do what I can, even if it just some cooked food and towels.
better go and get some breccie and do the dishes.
Had some unexpected money yesturday and am trying to find a way to make it into more without any risk any ideas? If I can't find a way to make it into more I will decide between driving lessons of womad music festival, its not much just holiday pay from my old job..
    hugs to all

Time for a reminder for everyone to check their smoke alarm batteries and hoover the dust out of them - needs doing monthly, but it's one of those things that can get overlooked.
